Stem cells exist not only in the developing mammalian embryo but also in certain areas of various adult tissues. In embryo, they can take part in the development of tissues and the whole organism while in adult, they are thought to be involved in cell metabolism. With the development of research in embryo and nervous system, the field of stem cells has become a hot point in scientific world. A brief summary is made on stem cell biology and its potential medical importance.

Objective To explore the siqnificance of event related potential(ERP) N400 on stroke patients with aphasia and provide theoretical basis for clinical operations.Methods 29 stroke patients with aphasia(aphasia group) and 58 stroke patients without aphasia(control group) were selected,which were examined with N400.The latency and amplitude of N400 were compared between the two groups.Results The difference waves' latency and amplitude of aphasia group were longer and higher than those of control group.The difference had statistical significance (all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion N400 is a significant marker for the language disturbance of aphasia patients.

OBJECTIVE To strengthen the management of medical refuse in order to control the onset of hospital(infection.) METHODS It has been done including setting up special tissue,formulating supervising system,strengthening training,carrying out supervising measures and strengthening examination and inspection.(RESULTS) It could prevent hospital infection effectively to regulate the whole course of the medical refuses(collection,) storage,dealing with and registration.CONCLUSIONS It is very important to strengthen the management of medical refuse in order to prevent hospital infection.

Objective To evaluate the result of radiotherapy for primary cardiac neoplasm.Methods A patients with primary malignant mucinous Schwannoma in th left ventriclular wall had been treated by conservative surgery. He,then,received fast neutron radiotherapy one year after wards. Radiotherapy was given through opposing anterior and posterior fields of 7.8 cm?7.8 cm. The total radiation dose was 1?004.95 ncGy with 11 fractions of 100 ncGy in 48 days.Results The function of the patient's heart recovered after treatment. The patients has been followed for 5 years without evidence of recurrence or distance metastased. Conclusion Fast neutron radiotherapy is effective in the treatment of primary cardiac neoplasms by surgery combined with postoperative radiotherapy. It could improve the prognosis of patients with primary cardiac neoplasms.

Objective To investigate the signaling transduction mechanisms of inhibiting effect of radiation on vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMC).Methods Cell culture in vitro and semi quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT PCR) were used to observe the dynamic change of VSMC focal adhesion kinase(FAK) on the mRNA expression level and result of the control group as compared to those of the irradiation ones at 2.5,10,15,20 Gy.Results Dose of 2～20?Gy irradiation down regulated the expression of FAK mRNA. At hour 48 after 2～20?Gy irradiation,the FAK mRNA expressions were all less than the control ones(F=364.21,P

Purpose:To study the effect of single lung ventilation for pneumoresection on blood gas. Methods:20 patients with lung cancer whose lung function were normal or reduced slightly before the operation were divided into 2 groups (A and B),of 10 cases each.The patients in group A underwent single lung ventilation with an endobronchial tube during the operation ,and two lung ventilation with an endotracheal in group B.Blood gas analysis was measured in every patient before, during and after the operation.Results:The values of blood gas analysis during the operation in all patients were normal and no significant difference was found between the two groups during the same time. Conclusions:The patients with lung cancer whose lung function were normal or reduced slightly before the operation can receive single lung ventilation safely for pneumoresection.[

Objective To establish a serological diagnostic method about NSCLC by investigating the expres-sion of 3 tumor markers of the sulfate glycosaminoglyean fragments(SGF), TSGF and CEA in NSCLC patients' serum. Methods To assay the level of SGF,TSGF and CEA in 50 NSCLC patients with latex particleagglutiation test,colori-metry of biochemistry and CLIA, respectively. Compared the clinical value of different examination combination way in NSCLC diagnosis value. Results There was high difference value between the Ⅰ - Ⅱ stage and the Ⅲ time,the Ⅲ time and the Ⅳ time about the level of SGF(P <0.05) in NSCLC patients. The specificity between SGF,TSGF and CEA each single item and the SGF and TSGF combination examination were not significant(P > 0.05). The semitivity between the SGF and TSGF combination and the SGF,TSGF and CEA combination was not significant(P >0.05), its specificity had significant difference(P <0.05). Conclusions There are higher expression about the 3 tumor mark-ers in NSCLC patients' serum. In the different combination examination, SGF and TSGF combined has great clinical value than other combinations to diagnosis NSCLC.

Objective To explore the relationship between self-efficacy and health behavior among stroke survivors.Methods Self-efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease 6-item Scale and Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II were used to measure 96 stroke survivors’ self-efficacy and health behaviors.Pearson correlation analysis was used for the analysis of correlation.Results The mean score of overall health behaviors was (2.41±0.33).Pearson’s correlation coefficient between self-efficacy and health behavior was 0.36 (P<0.05).Conclusions The health behaviors of stroke survivors were at the intermediate or lower level and their self-efficacy was at the intermediate level.In order to help stroke survivors to improve their health behaviors,self-efficacy should be enhanced by specific health education.

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of five infection markers in bloodstream infection.Methods Randomly selected 110 bloodstream infection patients with positive blood cultures and 30 bacterial infection patients with negative blood cultures.Blood was simultaneously drawn with blood cultures;the complete blood count and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were measured.The white blood cell count (WBC),neutrophil count (NEU),lymphocyte count (LMY),CRP level and neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR) were compared between the two groups.Results The levels of WBC,NEU,NLCR and CRP in bloodstream infection group were significantly higher than those in control group (P＜0.05),while LYM was significantly lower than that in control group (P＜ 0.05).Among these five infection markers,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC-AUC) was the highest for NLCR (0.808) and LMY (0.756);when the cutoff value for NLCR was ＞9.33,sensitivity was 63.6％,specificity was 93.3％;and the cutoff value for LYM was ≤0.97,sensitivity was 58.2％,specificity was 86.7％.Furthermore,the NLCR of patients with gram-negative bloodstream infection was higher than those in patients with gram-positive bloodstream infection.NLCR showed important clinical significance in distinguishing strains of different bloodstream infections.Conclusions NLCR is the better predictors than routine parameters in diagnosing bloodstream infection.

Objective To explore the influence of family function on health behaviors of stroke patients and the mediating effects of depression.Methods From September 2011 to April 2012,101 stroke survivors from a certain hospital in Guangzhou were investigated with Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile Ⅱ (HPLP Ⅱ),Family Assessment Device (FAD) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS).Results The mean score of overall health behavior was (2.27±0.36).The mean score of overall family function was (2.18±0.25).The score of overall depression was (37.39±7.94),which was higher than normal people.And the incidence of the stroke survivors' depression state was 29.5％.There was a correlation between family function,depression and health behavior.The depression totally mediated the influence of problem solving on health behaviors.The depression partially mediated the influence of communication,affective responsiveness,behavior control on health behaviors,and their mediating effects were 32.1％,37.4％,26.1％.Conclusions The promotion of family function and the reducing of depression can be regarded as the in-tervention to improve their health behavior.
