Objective To study the function of liver stem cells during at liver regeneration(LR) at transcriptional level.Methods The liver stem cell growth-and differentiation-related genes were obtained by data collection and literature review,and the gene expressions in rat regenerating liver were checked by Rat Genome 230 2.0 array.The relativity of the LR-associated genes was identified by comparing the discrepancy of gene expression changes between partial hepatectomy(PH) group and sham operation(SO) group.Results Fifty genes were found to be related with liver regeneration.The initial and total expressing gene numbers occurring in the initiation phase of liver regeneration(0.5-4 hours after PH),G_0/G_1 transition(4-6 hours after PH),cell proliferation(6-66 hours after PH),cell differentiation and structure-function reconstruction(72-168 hours after PH) were 24,10,21,2 and 24,23,46,26 respectively,indicating that the related genes were mainly triggered during the initiation phase,and worked at different phases.The total frequencies of their up-and down-regulation expression were 153 and 123 respectively,demonstrating that the expression of the major genes increased,and the minority decreased.Their expression profiles were classified into 6 types,indicating that the activities mentioned above were diverse and complicated during liver regeneration.Conclusion The growth and differentiation of liver stem cells are enhanced during liver regeneration.

Objective To know the indoor air pollution status in the newly decorated residential houses in Jiaozuo and to study the effect of decoration materials on the pollution. Methods To monitor formaldehyde, ammonia and benzene levels in the indoor air of 39 newly decorated rooms in Jiaozuo. Results The exceed standard rates of formaldehyde, ammonia and benzene in the indoor air were 73.6%, 84.7% and 25.8% respectively. Exceed standard rate of formaldehyde in the room which held the new furniture was the highest, 88.8%. Conclusion Decoration may cause indoor air pollution, the most part of the pollutants are formaldehyde and benzene. The level of the pollution depends on the different usages of the rooms.

Objective To investigate the effects of Lipo-PGE1 on the expression of T-bet and Gata-3,and its potential mechanisms causing the shift of T cells from Th1 to Th2 on Acute lung injury(ALI)induced by Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)in mice.Methods Sixty male BALB-C mice were randomly divided into three groups(n =20 in each group):(1)control group,mice were treated with intravenous injection of NS in dose of 10 ml/kg,(2)LPS group,mice were exposed to LPS with dosage of 5 mg/kg(0.5 g/ml diluted in saline),and(3)LPS + PGE1 group,mice were treated with Lipo-PGE1 in dose of 15μg/kg.Sixhours after injection,the lungs were removed for observing the histopathological changes and determination of wet/dry lung weight(W/D)ratio.The levels of Th1 and Th2 were determined by flow cytometry,and the expressions of T-bet and Gata-3 mRNA were detected by using RT-PCR.One-way ANOVA was used for comparing differences between groups,and all data were presented in((x)± s).Results The histological changes of lung injury were lessened by PGEC ompared with the W/D ratio(5.74 ± 0.31)in LPS group,the one(4.92 ±0.27)in LPS +PGE1 group was lower significantly(P ＜0.01).The levels of Th1 and Th2 and their ratio Were higher in LPS +PGE1 group[(20.31 ±2.20)％,(10.50±0.80)％,(1.93±0.05)]than in LPS group[(16.65 ±1.70)％,(9.40 ±1.25)％,(1.73 ±0.03)](P＜0.01).Compared with control group,the expressions ofT-bet mRNA(1.183 ±0.495),and Gata-3 mRNA(0.693±0.285),and their ratio(1.713 ± 0.131)were lower(P ＜0.01); compared with LPS group,PGE1 significantly increased the expressions of T-bet mRNA(1.827 ± 0.705)and the ratio of T-bet/Gata-3 (2.502 ±0.352)(P ＜0.01),while didn(t)increased the expressions of Gata-3 mRNA(0.7191 ±0.186)significantly(P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Lipo-PGE1 may up-regulate transcription factor T-bet which participates in the Th1 differentiation ratio,and then improve the inflammatorv svmntom.

Objective To investigate the cause and treatment for ischemic ophthalmopathy after cataract phacoemulsification.Methods A total of 3000 patients with cataract underwent phacoemulsification were retrospectively analyzed,and 13 patients with ischemic ophthalmopathy.The ischemic optic neuropathy (ION) were in 8 cases,7 cases occurred in age related cataract,1 cases occurred in the dislocation of lens;The central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) were occurred in 5 cases,1 cases of age-related cataract,2 cases of congenital cataract,2 cases of traumatic cataract.The patients were diagnosed with fundus,visual field and fundus fluorescein angiography respectively,and then were treated with dilation of blood vessels,nutrition nerves and symptomatic treatment.Results The visual acuity in 6 cases with ION after the treatment were improved in different degrees;The visual acuity in 2 cases with CRAO after treatment were improved,3 cases was not recovered.Conclusion Ischemic ophthalmopathy caused by phacoemulsification cataract surgery may be related to the main vascular disease or optic nerve ischemia and hypoxia during operation,and with early detection and treatment,visual acuity can be improved to some extent.

Objective To study the effect of laparoscopic neoplasty and changes of procalcitonin (PCT) and cell-mediated immunity in elderly patients with duodenal ulcer perforation. Methods Forty-four elderly patients with duodenal ulcer perforation were divided into laparoscopic neoplasty group (n=20) and open neoplasty group (n=24).The level of PCT was assayed by colloid immunization. Blood levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+and natural killer (NK) cells were detected by flow cytometry before operation and at 0.5 h, 24 h, 48 h and the 7th day after operation.Surgical complications and postoperative hospital stay were observed in two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the activity of PCT before operation between two groups. There were no significant differences in CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and NK cells 0.5 h before operation between two groups. The level of PCT was significantly lower at 24 h and 48 h after operation in laparoscopic group than that in open operation group (P<0.05). There were significant differences in the serum levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+and NK cells with time changes in two groups (P<0.05). There were significant decreases in CD3+, CD4+and CD8+at 24 h after operation than those before operation in two groups, which were significantly lower in open operation group than those of laparoscopic group except for CD8+. The levels of CD3+, CD4+and CD8+recovered to the levels before operation at 48 h after operation in laparoscopic group. In open operation group CD3+did not return to the level before operation at 7 d after operation. The levels of NK cells were decreased at 24 h after operation in two groups, but there was no significant difference in the level of NK cells between two groups. The level of NK cells returned to preoperative levels at 48 h after operation in laparoscopic group, while there was no significant difference in the level of NK cells before and after operation in open neoplasty group. Compared with the open neoplasty group, there were fewer complications and shorter hospital stay in laparoscopic group. Conclusion The laparoscopic repair operation for gastric and duodenal ulcer perforation has a fewer effects on the stress response and immune function in elderly patients, and has the advantages in the protection of immune function.

Objective Mongolian gerbil can make themself urine concentration for saving water and adapt to the harsh desert environment, due to their very unique moisture control system in the body.Methods Mongolian gerbil is resistant to drought on account of their special kidney. Histology of the kidney, ureter and bladder in Meriones Unguiculataus were observed by light microscopy using HE staining.Results The results showed that compared with rats and mice, the Mongolian gerbils have more developed distal tubules, and well developed inner renal medulla.Conclusions We hope that the findings of this study enrich our understanding of the histology of urinary system in Mongolian gerbils and provide support for the laboratory animalization of this animal.

Objective To explore the efficacy of tepronone and folic acid in the treatment of chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) evaluated by the marking targeting biopsy (MTB).Methods A total of 224 H.pylori negative CAG patients were selected and divided into group A (n 96,tepronone 50 mg/time,folic acid 10 mg/time,three times/day),group B (n=23,tepronone 50 mg/time,three times/day),group C (n=74,unspecific treatment) and group D (n=31,no treatment).The treatment course lasted for one year.The clinical symptoms improvement of each group was observed before and after treatment.The pathological improvement of gastric mucosa by MTB was inspected before and after treatment.The chi square test was performed for the comparison between groups.Results The total efficacy rates of group A,B,C and D were 43.8％ (42/96),39.1％ (9/23),33.8％(25/74) and 32.3％ (10/31) respectively,there was no significant difference between groups (x2 =2.328,P =0.507).For the significant efficacy rate of gastric mucosa pathological improvement,group A was compared with group D,group A was compared with group C and group B was comparedwith group D,the differences were significant (x2 =14.520,14.628 and 8.995,all P＜0.01).In the total efficacy rate of gastric mucosa pathological improvement,group A (49.8％,131/263) was compared with group D (24.2％,16/66),group A was compared with group C (35.9％,66/184)and group B (44.7％,21/47) was compared with group D,the differences were significant (x2 =13.953,8.535 and 5.207,all P＜0.05).Conclusion Teprenone alone or teprenone and folic acid combination can obviously improve pathological changes of CAG patients.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of hyperbaric oxygen combining conventional therapy on persistent vegetative state ( PVS).Methods Sixty-two cases of PVS patients were treated with hyperbaric oxygen ( HBO ) combinting with conventional therapy.( 1 ) Hyperbaric oxygen therapy:hyperbaric oxygen chamber was adopted and the air pressure was 0,18 -0.20 MPa.The patients breathed pure oxygen for 30 min,2 times per day with a 10 min interval,and continued for 10 days as a course with an average of 4 to 6 courses.(2)Conventional therapy:All patients received drug treatment in hyperbaric oxygen therapy at the same time,including hemostasis,dehydration,anti-infection,nerve cell nutrition agents,wake promoting agents and supportive therapy.All patients were divided to three groups according to the course of disease:26 - 59 days in A group,60-119 days in B group,120 -268 days in C group,and the relationship between disease course and HBO treatment efficacy was analyzed.Results Afer HBO combining conventional therapy,27 cases (43.5％) were recovered,18 cases(29.0％ ) had obvious effect,8 cases( 12.9％ ) had effect,9 cases( 14.5％ )were inefficacy.The efficiency related to the course of disease.The total efficiency rate was 85.5％.The efficacy of HBO treatment had significant difference in A,B and C group ( 96.2％,62.5％ and 41.7％ in A,B and C group respectively,x2 =24.83,P ＜ 0.01 ).The shorter course indicated the better efficacy.Conclusion Hyperbaric oxygen combining conven.

AIM: To study the electrophysiological effects of nitric oxide (NO) on the pacemaker cells in guinea-pig left ventricular outflow tract under the condition of ischemia/reperfusion ( I/R) .METHODS:The spontaneous slow action potentials of guinea-pig left ventricular outflow tract were recorded by conventional intracellular microelectrode technique.The effects of NO donor sodium nitroprusside ( SNP) on the spontaneous slow action potentials under normal or I/R condition were investigated.RESULTS:SNP at concentrations of 1, 10 and 100μmol/L but not 1000μmol/L signif-icantly increased velocity of diastolic depolarization ( VDD) and rate of pacemaker firing ( RPF) , SNP at concentrations of 1, 10, 100 and 1 000μmol/L notably increased maximal diastolic potential (MDP), amplitude of action potential (APA) and maximal rate of depolarization ( Vmax ) , shortened 50%and 90%of the duration ( APD50 and APD90 ) .In ischemia 10 min group, VDD and RPF were significantly decreased, APA and Vmax were notably increased, and APD50 and APD90 were markedly lengthened compared with control group.In reperfusion 10 min group, VDD and RPF were significantly in-creased, MDP and APA were notably decreased, and APD50 and APD90 were markedly shortened compared with I 10 min group.In reperfusin 10 min group, the pacemaker activity was always irregular.In reperfusion 10 min group, the parame-ters of spontaneous slow action potentials restored to the levels of control group except for VDD and Vmax .In 1, 10 and 100 μmol/L SNP+R groups, VDD and RPF were significantly increased than in ischemia 10 min group .In 1, 10, 100 and 1 000 μmol/L SNP+R groups, APA, APD50 and APD90 were restored to the levels of control group.CONCLUSION:SNP significantly increases the spontaneous activity of left ventricular outflow tract, and relieves the effects of I/R on the sponta-neous slow action potential markedly.

OBJECTIVE To study the effect of subchronic exposure to aluminum(Al)on learning, memory,and immediate early gene expression in rats,and to explore the toxic mechanism of Al on cognitive impairment of rats. METHODS Wistar offspring rats were administered with 2.0,4.0 and 8.0 g?L-1 AlCl3 in milk and drinking water in sequence from the postnatal day 1 to 3 months. Then,learning and memory of offspring rats were measured by Morris water maze, the hippocampal Al concentration was quantitated by the atomic absorption spectrophotometer, the CA1 area of the hippocampus was collected for HE observation, and the c-fos gene and c-Fos protein expression in CA1 area of the hippo?campus in offspring rats were detected by RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS Learning and memory of offspring rats in AlCl3 groups were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.01,P<0.05). The hippocampal Al concentrations of offspring rats in AlCl3 groups were higher than those in control group(P<0.01). The morphology in CA1 area of offspring rats′ hippocampus in AlCl3 groups exhibited sparse nerve fibers, depigmentation and even vacuolar degeneration in neurons and other pathological changes after Al treatment;c-fos mRNA expression in the hippocampus in 4.0 and 8.0 g?L-1 AlCl3 group rats was significantly lower than in control and 2.0 g?L-1 AlCl3 group, respectively(P<0.01). c-Fos protein expression in offspring rats′ hippocampus in AlCl3 exposed groups was significantly lower compared with control group(P<0.01). CONCLUSION Al can injure learning and memory of rats,which is related to hippocampal neuronal dysfunction in CA1 area induced by pathological changes,low levels of c-fos gene and c-Fos protein expression subsequently.
