At Bach Mai Hospital from January 2001 to October 2003, the study was carried out on 97 HIV(+) patients aged >15 years, including 65 patients injected by candida albicans and 32 patients by penicillium marneffei, aged mainly <30 years, male was higher than female gender with statistical significance (p<0.01). The culture of throat lession samples showed a very high rate of (+) results in candida albicans detection (96.9%). The results were analogous in the skin and blood sample culture. There was an enhance of LDH activity and there was a negative relation TCD4 cell count in peripheral blood of HIV/AIDS patients infected by candida albicans and penicillium marneffei fungi.

Two groups of subjects: control group composes of 39 healthy persons, aged 22-26 (26 males, 13 females) with HIV negative; patient group: 245 HIV patients living in community of 6 districts in Hanoi. Infected patients are mainly in adult 16-50 years old, the most common are in 21-30 (65.3%) years old, 90.6% are male. Lympho cell count decreased, TCD4 count and its percent also decreased. In 21.6% patients, the count of TCD4 < 200/mm3. TCD8 count and its ratio increased. Ratio of TCD4/TCD8 decreased. Occasional infected patients occupied 7.8%, the most commonly infected is tuberculosis 57.9% then zona 15.8%, syndrome of asthenia 10.5%

39 cases of HIV/AIDS infection with opportunistic infections in lung were treated in the Institute of Clinical Tropical Diseases at Bach Mai Hospital during 2001-2002 period. The investigation showed the most acquired group was very young from 15 to 30 years old, male was more than female. The wat od transimission was mainly intravenous drug injection, then the prostitution. Among opportunistic infections, tuberculosis account for 30.8%, other causes 69.2%, number of T CD4 <200 cells/mm3 in 89.7% of studied cases. Serum activity LDH increased in 92.3% of cases, including 12.8% of cases with serum LDH activity > 2000 UI/l at 37oC. There is a negative correlation of the T CD4 number and serum LDH activity in HIV?AIDS infected subjects with opportunistic lung infections

Research on 39 patients with acute virus hepatitis and 33 patients with chronic virus hepatitis, 9 patients have clinical cirrhosis symptoms. All of them suffer HbsAg (+) and liver function disorderly. Results: in lower 40 ages group, the incidence of acute virus hepatitis higher than chronic virus hepatitis and cirrhosis. Man with hepatitis and cirrhosis higher than woman byfar (80,2% vs 19,8%). Reducing aglobulia, pigment blood ……….. in man patients with acute virus hepatitis, chronic virus hepatitis are higher than healthy people. Number of Glomerule in chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis group and man with acute hepatitis reduce significantly compare health people. In suffer acute virus hepatitis, there are different significantly between nomal acute virus hepatitis and severe acute virus hepatitis

A retrospective study on 11 adult patients with HIV/AIDS in the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Disease during 1998 - 2000 has shown that average ages of patients was 26.486.68, patients with ages of 16-30 accounted for highest rate (72.5%), male patients accounted for 94.6%. HIV transmission among drug addicts was highest rate (62.2%). Rate of unemployment patients was 47.7%. The average duration of treatment within 15 days found in 73.9% of patients. The clinical feature included fever (65.8%), big nodules, cough and breathing difficulty (42.3%), weight loss (30.6%), skin and mucosal lesion (27%), diarrhea (25.2%), hepatomegaly (20.7%), throat fungus (19.8%), splenomegaly (10.8%), headache (10.8%), the opportunistic infections such as herpes zoster, dermatitis, tuberculosis.

An investigation were carried out on 42 patients of acute hepatitis B (male: 34; female: 8; age: 17-50) at Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Diseases from May to Dec, 1997. Hematology biochemistry tests are determined. The results: the increased concentration of AFP in serum of acute hepatitis B patients (87,95 +/_ 12,89 ng/ml) in compared with normal person. The high level of AFP of 10ng/ml on 20/42 patients (47, 6%). There is a correlation of AFP level, transaminase with AST in the phases I and III and ALT in the phases III. AFP correlates with bilirubin TP during acute hepatitis.

A study on 105 patients in the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Diseases from 12/1997-1/1999 has shown that the lymphocyte TCD 3, TCD4 and TCD8 increased in patients with acute hepatitis B, these cells remained at normal level in patients with the chronic hepatitis B, there was an increase of lymphocyte TCD4 in patients with cirrhosis. The amount of lymphocyte was significantly reduced. The lymphocyte T in the patients with acute hepatitis B was higher than these in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

Hepatitis B is a common disease in Vietnam; 15-20% of population carries HbsAg. The investigation of etiology and prognosis should consider the circulate immunal complex (CIC). A study on 65 patients with ages of 17-60 in the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Diseases during 1997-1998 has shown that the CIC in patients with acute hepatitis B was significantly increased comparing with this normal people. 63% of patients with acute hepatitis B experienced the increase of CIC 250. There was a relation between CIC and some hepatic functional tests in the same time.

19 patients (male: 17) with ages of 16-56 in the Institute of Clinical Medicine and Tropical Diseases participated to a study whose blood samples were measured the concentration of tumor necrosis factor - alpha (TNF-alpha), biochemical and hematological, immunological parameters. The results have shown that there was a high increase of TNF-alpha in patients with acute hepatitis B comparing with this in normal people. There was a correlation between the TNF-alpha and SGOT within the first 2-3 months of disease. There was a correlation between TNF-alpha and SGPT in the second months of disease. There was indirect proportional between the TNF-alpha and serum total bilirubine in the second months of disease.
