Objective To study the relationship of two variants( -871A/G and -336A/G) polymorphisms of the DC-SIGN gene with the susceptibility to pulmonary tuberculosis in Chinese population. Methods Two hundred and thirty-seven tuberculosis cases and 244 controls were genotyped by pyrosequencing in this case-control study. The analysis of the relationship of the -871A/G and -336A/G polymorphisms with their susceptibility of pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) and the relationship of the two variants with their clinical correlation of tuberculosis was performed by chi-square test. Results The genotypic frequencies of A/G + G/G and A/A of - 871, 37.6%, 62.4% respectively in cases, and 43.4%, 56. 6%respectively in controls, had no significant difference in statistics. And the genotypic frequencies of A/G + G/G and A/A of -336, 12. 2% ,87.8% respectively in cases, and 14.3% ,85.7% respectively in controls, had also no statistical difference between two groups. Interestingly, a significant association is disclosed between the promoter variant - 336G allele and fever in patients ( P = 0. 037, OR = 0. 191, 95 % CI:0. 040-0. 907 ). Conclusion The single nucleotide polymorphism of -871A/G and -336A/G in DCSIGN gene promoter might not be associated with the susceptibility to tuberculosis in Chinese. Tuberculosis patients with -336G allele are significantly protected fever.

Several barriers such as gastric pH, enzymatic degradation and rapid transit should be overcome to orally deliver antigens for taking up by epithelial microfold cells in Peyer's patches of small intestine. To solve the above mentioned problems, we designed pH-sensitive and mucoadhesive polymeric microparticles (MPs) prepared by double emulsion technique using cellulose acetate phthalate (CAP) to enhance immune response of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) virus (FMDV) subunit vaccine. Thiolation of CAP improved mucoadhesive property of CAP to prolong the MPs transit time through the gastrointestinal tract. Thiolated CAP (T-CAP) also slowed down antigen release in acidic pH of stomach but released more antigens in neutral pH of small intestine due to the pH-sensitivity of the T-CAP. Oral immunization of a chimerical multi-epitope recombinant protein as the FMD subunit vaccine via T-CAP MPs effectively delivered the vaccine to Peyer's patches eliciting mucosal IgA response. It will make a step forward into a promising oral subunit vaccine development in livestock industry.

Objective To investigate the distribution and changing resistance proifle ofSalmonella isolates in hospitals across China during the period from January 2005 to December 2014.Methods Seventeen general hospitals and two children’s hospitals were involved in this program. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was carried out by means of a unified protocol using Kirby-Bauer method or MIC determination. The results were analyzed according to CLSI 2014 breakpoints. Results The proportion ofSalmonella isolates increased with time from 0.2% in 2005 to 0.7% in 2014. A total of 3 478Salmonella strains were collected from 19 hospitals. The proportion ofSalmonella typhimurium andSalmonella enteritidis was 27.4% and 24.4%, respectively. During the 10-year period, theSalmonella strains showed highest resistance rate to ampicillin (33.3%-64.8%), but low resistance to cefoperazone-sulbactam (0-5.3%) and ciprofloxacin (2.4%-14.3%).S. typhimurium showed higher resistance rate thanS. typhi,S. paratyphi andS. enteritidis. About 76.8% and 50.5% ofS. typhimurium were resistant to ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. The average prevalence of multi-drug resistantSalmonellawas 3.9% in the ten-year period, the highest (7.5%) was in 2005, the lowest (1.5%) in 2013.Conclusions During the period from 2004 to 2015, majority of theSalmonella isolates in hospitals across China wasS. typhimurium andS. enteritidis. Ampicillin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole are no longer appropriate for empirical treatment ofS. typhimurium infection due to high resistance rate.Salmonella isolates are relatively more susceptible to third-generation cephalosporins and quinolones. Ongoing monitoring is necessary to identify multi-drug resistant strains ofSalmonella.

Surgery is currently the most appropriate treatment for early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Increasing unilateral or bilateral multiple primary lung cancer being found, segmentectomy has attracted wide attention for its unique advantages in the treatment for such tumors. Ground glass opacity dominant early-stage NSCLC is associated with a good prognosis and can be cured by segmentectomy, however, the treatment of solid-dominant NSCLC remains controversial owing to the invasive nature. With the in-depth study on the lymph node metastasis pathway, radiological characteristics and molecular biology of NSCLC, a large part of solid nodules with certain characteristics can also be cured by segmentectomy. This paper reviews the research status and progress about the indication of segmentectomy.
