Objective To discuss the value of color Doppler ultrasonography in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC).Methods Color Doppler ultrasonography exam was practiced in 84 UTUC patients preoperatively.According to ultrasound characteristics, lesions was classified into nodular type, wall thickening type and solid mass type, which were confirmed by pathology in all cases postoperatively. Results In the total of 84 cases (76 transitional-cell carcinoma,5 adenocarcinoma and 3 epidermoid carcinoma),lesions infiltrated laminae propria and surrounding tissue in 65 cases. In the nodular type of UTUC,there were nodules raising into lumen.Wall thickening type of UTUC was characterized by irregularly wall thickening, lumen narrowing, truncating and breaking.Similarly, obstruction broke off the ureteral lumen suddenly in solid mass type of UTUC.A clear demarcation could be found between the pipe wall and surrounding tissue in nodular type. However, such clear demarcation could not be found in wall thickening type and solid mass type. The accordance rate of ultrasonographic located diagnosis were 92.9 % (78/84),with 6 missed diagnosis cases. The accordance rate of qualitative diagnosis were 89.7% (70/78).Conclusions As result of color Doppler ultrasonography, there were different relationship between lesion and the peripheral tissue in different types of UTUC.In types of wall thickening and solid mass, the demarcation was unclear and it is easier to violate the surrounding tissue.Color Doppler ultrasonography can provide more effective information for diagnosis and therapy UTUC.

Aim To study the effect of oxymatrine (OMT)on protecting human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs)from toxicity induced by high glucose in vitro. Methods The HUVECs were cultured with medium containing different concentrations of glucose or OMT. The cells were randomly divided into 6 groups:5.5 mmol·L -1 control group(Control),22.2 mmol·L -1 high glucose (22.2 mmol·L -1 ),44.4 mmol·L -1 high glucose (44.4 mmol·L -1 ),control+OMT(control +OMT),22.2 mmol·L -1 high glu-cose +OMT(22.2 mmol·L -1 +OMT),44.4 mmol ·L -1 high glucose +OMT (44.4 mmol · L -1 +OMT).The protective effect of oxymatrine was as-sessed by MTS assays. The expression of A2B in HU-VECs was detected by Real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR)and Western Blot methods. Results The glucose was shown to have caused cytotoxicity in HU-VECs.Oxymatrine (3 μmol·L -1 )was found to have protected HUVECs from glucose toxicity effectively, and reduced the expression of A2B significantly.Con-clusion Oxymatrine can obviously protect HUVECs from cytotoxicity induced by high glucose and the effect is performed partly by decreasing A2B expression.

OBJECTIVETo investigate diagnosis and therapeutic effects of knee joint synovial chondromatosis with arthroscopic.
METHODSFrom March 1995 to July 2011, 28 patients with knee joint synovial chondromatosis were treated. Among them, 18 males and 10 females ranging age from 25 to 81 (mean 55.2) years, the course of disease ranged from 0.5 to 15 (mean 5.6) years. Clinical manifestation mainly included pain, swell and functional limitation of knee joint. Knee open surgery (17 cases) and laparoscopic surgery (10 cases) were respectively used. Clinical symptom, image data, pathological manifestation and effects under arthroscopy were observed, Lysholm scoring was used to evaluate effects.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up except one lost, the duration ranging from 6 to 24 months. Lysholm score in knee open surgery was increased from (41.89 +/- 6.81) preoperatively to (67.73 +/- 7.62) postoperatively;while in laparoscopic surgery it was increased from (40.78 +/- 7.54) preoperatively to (77.46 +/- 8.43) postoperatively.
CONCLUSIONArthroscopic surgery, which has no risk of rupture of incision, nonunion, earlier to exercise, is a good method to diagnosis and treat knee joint synovial chondromatosis.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(8):725-730
The potential biodegradation of crude oil was assessed based on the development of a fermentative process with a strain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa which produced 15.4 g/L rhamnolipids when cultured in a basal mineral medium using glycerol as a sole carbon source. However, neither cell growth nor rhamnolipid production was observed in the comparative culture system using crude oil as the sole carbon source instead. As rhamnolipid, an effective biosurfactant, has been reported to stimulate the biodegradation of hydrocarbons, 1 g/L glycerol or 0.22 g/L rhamnolipid was initially added into the medium to facilitate the biodegradation of crude oil. In both situations, more than 58% of crude oil was degraded and further converted into accumulated cell biomass and rhamnolipids. These results suggest that Pseudomonas aeruginosa could degrade most of crude oil with direct or indirect addition of rhamnolipid. And this conclusion was further supported by another adsorption experiment, where the adsorption capacity of crude oil by killed cell biomass was negligible in comparison with the biologic activities of live cell biomass.

Objective To explore the value of color Doppler ultrasonography(CDU)as preoperative diagnosing and postoperative monitoring in patients with stenosis of subclavian or innominate artery(SIA)before and after percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stent(PTAS).Methods A total of 45 patients with stenosis of SIA were selected.Their extracranial vertebral artery and subclavian artery were observed with CDU.In 36 patients with one-sided stenosis of SIA.blood flow direction and spectrum of extracranial vertebraI artery were analyzed.Subclavian steal grade confirmed by spectrum change of vertebral artery was compared with the stenosis grade on quantitative angiography(QA).Among 45 patients with stenosis of SIA,PTAS was performed successfully in 36 patients(36 stents implanted). After stents implanted, hemodynamie parameters such as peak systolic velocity(PSV)in stent, follow-up velocity ratio in stem(VR)were measured.Restenosis in stent were observed. Results In 36 patients with one-sided stenosis of SIA,the ultrasonographic steal grade correlated with the QA stenosis grade significantly(r=0.752,P<0.01).Among 36 patients with stent implanted, follow up 8-12 months, 4 patients with restenosis in stent were found.Compared with the patients without restenosis in stent,PSV and VR in stent increased significantly(P<0.01).Conclusions As a fast and non-invasive imaging technique,CDU could allow diagnosis of stenosis of SIA before PTAS,and detection of restenosis after PTAS.

Aim ToexploretheeffectsofnewdrugT-006 on improving learning and memory abilities in scopolamine-induced dementia mice and its possible mechanism. Methods 72maleKunmingmicewere randomly divided into six groups:normal control group, model group, donepezil treatment group,T -006 treatment group with different doses(1,3 and 10 mg·kg-1 ).All mice were treated by intragastric ad-ministration for 14 consecutive days. Learning and memory abilities were tested by a five-day Morris water maze trial from the 1 1 th day.the first 4 days of the five-day Morris water maze, the navigation test was performed, the last day of Morris water maze is the spatial probe test.During the navigation test, mice were intraperitoneally given 2 mg · kg-1 scopolamine 20 minutes before entering the water, while normal control group mice administrated with sterile saline in-stead.Mice were not given T-006 nor scopolamine in spatial probe test. After Morris water maze, all mice were sacrificed for hippocampus and cortex. The activi-ties of AchE and SOD and the levels of GSH and MDA in hippocampus and cortex were measured after tissue harvesting. Results Comparedwithmodelgroup,T-006 could obviously improve learning and memory abil-ities in scopolamine-induced mice, significantly in-crease the levels of SOD and GSH and decrease the levelsofMDAandAchE.Conclusion T-006can significantly improve cognitive abilities in scopolamine-induced dementia mice, and its relevant mechanism may be closely related to its antioxidative effect and the ability to decrease AchE level.
