[Objective]To evaluate curative effects of Osteoset~ synthetic bone transplants and internel fixations on calcaneus fracture.[Method]Twenty-three patients with calcaneus fracture,who were treated by Osteoset~ synthetic bone transplants and internel fixation,were followed up by plain X-Rays and JOA functional questionnaires.Fracture patterns were based on Sanders methods.[Result]A series of 23 patients,7 of which were sanders Ⅱ,15 were sanders Ⅲ,3 were sanders Ⅳ,were treated with ORIF and Osteoset~ implants.The preoperative Blher's angle was 4.8 degrees(standard deviation 6.6 degrees).Blher's angle increased to a mean of 26.8 degrees(SD 8.6 degrees) postoperatively.In the first 3 months after surgery,a mean decrease in the Blher's angle of 0.4 degrees(SD 2.27 degrees) occurred.One month after surgery osteoset synthetic bone transplants,which was replaced by new bone,were gradually absorbed and degraded.JOA questionnaires suggested that the whole effective rate was 92 percent.[Conclusion]Osteoset synthetic bone transplants and internel fixations has good therapeutic effects on patients with comminuted calcaneus fracture.Osteoset~ synthetic bone has the same effects as autogenous bone.

An intercostal nerve-spinal cord implantation and semitransection of the spinalcord at the point between the origin and insertion of the intercostal nerve was madeon ten adult dogs and two monkeys.One to two weeks after this operation,paraly-tic legs following semitransection of the spinal cord recoverded from the paralysis.The implanted nerves were cut during the different period from 124 to 366 days.The function of the legs of four animals which had recovered paralysed again aftersurgical section of implanted nerve.Histologically,the inserted nerves in the spinalcord were recognized in these animals.Many of the growing fibers extended fromdistal end of the inserted intercostal nerve into the gray and white matter ofthe distal segment of the spinal cord.It is considered that the efficacy of the inter-costal nerve-spinal cord implantation depends upon the choice of the symptomaticindications and the success of the implantation procedure.

The postnatal development of the efferent projections to the lumbosacral spinal cord from the brain stem of rats were studied with HRP retrograde transport method. Fifty per cent solution of HRP was slowly injected into the intumescentia lumbalis on its right side in 18 albino rats from postnatal 1-35 days. The HRP labelled cells were found in the following nuclei:1. Of the midbrain: the nucleus ruber, substantia nigra and nucleus raphe dorsalis.2. Of the pons: the nucleus reticularis pontis oralis, nucleus reticularis pontis caudalis, locus coeruleus, nucleus subcoeruleus, nucleus raphe magnus, nucleus vestibularis lateralis, and nucleus vestibularis medialis.3. Of the medulla oblongata: the nucleus raphe obscurus, nucleus raphe pallidus, nucleus reticularis ventralis, nucleus reticularis gigantocellularis, nucleus reticularis lateralis, nucleus tractus spinalis nervi trigemini, nucleus commissuralis (Cajal), nucleus prepositus hypoglossi, and nucleus gracilis.The number of the labelled cells in the above nuclei increased steadily with age. The results of present study showed that there was a postnatal developmental process in the efferent projections from the brain stem to the lumbosacral cord. The maturity of the projections from ruber nucleus and locus coeruleus were later than those of the vestibulospinal and reticulospinal tracts. The postnatal developmental process of the brain stem projections to the lumbosacral spinal cord were completed by one month after birth.

Objective To investigate the neuroprotective effect of cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin injection on the rat model of traumatic brain injury (TBI).Methods Three hundred and six SD rats were randomly divided into sham group,TBI group,high dose group,middle dose group and low dose group according to the random number table.Rats received 1.8,0.6 and 0.2 ml/kg of cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin injection for 28 days in high,middle and low dose groups,respectively.TBI was induced by the modified Feeney' s weight-drop method.Rat mortality,neurological function score and learning and memory ability were recorded.Brain morphological changes were evaluated with 7.0 T small animal nuclear magnetic resonance and HE staining.Evans blue was applied to assess blood brain barrier (BBB) permeability and hydrocephalus was evaluated by the brain water content.Results Mortality in high dose group decreased significantly compared to that in TBI group (22.40％ vs.28.14％,P ＜ 0.05).Defects in neurological function and learning and memory induced by TBI were significantly mitigated in middle and high dose groups (P ＜ 0.05).Pathological damage and contralateral hippocampal atrophy in middle and high dose groups were reduced significantly compared to TBI group (P ＜ 0.05).Hippocampus neuroapoptosis in middle and high dose groups was significantly improved compared to TBI group (P ＜ 0.05).BBB damage was less severe in middle and high dose groups than in TBI group (P ＜ 0.05).The treatment was preventive against secondary hydrocephalus.Conclusion Middle or high dose cattle encephalon glycoside and ignotin injection over a 28-day period has significant neuroprotective effect on the TBI rats.

It is held by some of the researches that the "16 collaterals" is composed of the "15 collaterals" and "the major collateral of stomach". And it is included into the textbook that Xuli, the major collateral of stomach, is the pulsation point at the cardiac region. Xuli is often explained as the empty portion of the human body by many researches. Through analysis and summarization of the related theory of the major collateral of stomach, the above mentioned opinion is discussed. And the understanding on the major collateral of stomach is deepened. As a result, it is concluded that count the major collateral of stomach into the 16 collaterals together with the 15 collaterals is inadvisable. The real pulsation point at the cardiac region locates under the left breast. And the real meaning of Xuli is "extending in all directions".
