OBJECTIVE: To discuss the biosafety and biocompatibility of biomaterials. METHODS: A computer-based online search of CNKI, CBM and VIP as well as manual search were performed to collect articles about random cell control experiments and animal experiments of biological material biocompatibility published between 1990 and 2008. A total of 28 Chinese literatures were collected, and 7 were included mainly involving the cytotoxicity test methods and blood compatibility of the experimental medium, experimental grouping, experimental materials, methods of observation, experimental results, and experimental conclusion. In addition, biocompatibility of the biological material was analyzed to summarize the biocompatibility of the biological safety. RESULTS: Based on experiments of biosafety and biocompatibility of biomaterials, the cytotoxicity test and blood compatibility of various biomaterials, such as collagen, chitosan, magnetic nanoparticle, metal vascular stent, sulphurated siliastic medical grade silicon rubber, polyurethane, ceramic coatings by micro-arc oxidation, are essential for the biological safety. The experimental results have shown that the biomaterials have good biocompatibility. CONCLUSION: A variety of biological materials present good biocompatibility, including collagen, chitosan, magnetic nanoparticle, metal vascular stent, sulphurated siliastic medical grade silicon rubber, polyurethane, ceramic coatings by micro-arc oxidation, based on the evaluation criteria.

Objective · To observe the changes in peripheral blood CD14dimCD16+ monocyte count and serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level in elderly patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and analyze the relationship between these changes and the cardiac function of patients. Methods · 42 elderly patients with CHF (the CHF group, consisting of 18 cases of NYHA cardiac function grade Ⅱ , 18 cases of NYHA cardiac function grade Ⅲ , and 6 cases of NYHA cardiac function grade Ⅳ) and 25 healthy elderly people (the control group) were enrolled. Peripheral blood CD14dimCD16+ monocyte count, serum CRP level, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) were measured and statistical analysis was performed. Results · CD14dimCD16+ monocyte count and serum CRP level were significantly higher in the CHF group than in the control group (P<0.05). In the CHF group, the CD14dimCD16+ monocyte count, serum CRP level, and LVEDD of NYHA grade Ⅳ patients were significantly higher than those of NYHA grade Ⅱ patients, while their LVEF was remarkably lower than that of NYHA grade Ⅱ patients. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Correlation analysis results showed that peripheral blood CD14dim CD16+ monocyte count and serum CRP level were positively correlated with LVEDD (r =0.37, r =0.45, P<0.05) and negatively correlated with LVEF (r =-0.56, r =-0.33, P<0.05) in the CHF group. Conclusion · The deterioration of elderly patients with CHF is associated with inflammation and the monocyte dysfunction may exist in the heart failure process. Peripheral blood CD14dim CD16+ monocyte count and serum CRP level are expected to be novel biomarkers that can reflect the severity of heart failure.

Objective:To establish a method for the determination of salicylic acid in the compound sulfur ointments by ultra-per-formance liquid chromatography (UPLC). Methods:An Agilent ZORBAX SB-C18(250 mm ×4.6 mm,5 μm)column was used, the mobile phase was methanol-0. 1 mol·L-1 sodium dihydrogen phosphate (30∶70), the detection wavelength was 231nm, the column temperature was 35℃, the flow rate was 1. 0 ml·min-1 and the injection volume was 10μl. Results:The linear range of salicylic acid was 11. 96-59. 80 μg·ml-1(r=0. 999 9), and the average recovery was 99. 72%(RSD=1. 28%,n=9). Conclusion:The method is accurate, stable and specific, and suitable for the determination of salicylic acid in the compound sulfur ointments.

Topographical Projections of cingulate cortex to the central lateral nucleus (CL) of thalamus in the cat was observed by means of retrograte HRP technique. After injection of HRP into rostral part of the CL, labeled cells were mainly distributed in ipsilateral anterior cingulate cortex. A few cells were also labeled in the corresponding location of the contralateral cingulate cortex. Following injections of HRP into caudal part of CL, the HRP-positive neurons were found in both anterior and posterior parts of the cingulate cortex ipsilaterally, the labeled cells were considerable sparser than in rostral injection cases. Labeled cell in all cases were located in inferior part of lamina Ⅴ and lamina Ⅵ. They are small to middle sized pyramidal neurons. These results suggest that the cingulate- CL projection are topographically organized.

Objective To investigate the complications of laparoscopic exploration of the common bile duct,and its prevention.Methods From June 2003 to June 2007,a total of 124 patients received laparoscopic exploration of the common bile duct in our department,13 of them developed complications.The data of these 13 patient were analyzed retrospectively.Results Among the 13 cases,3 had intraoperative perforation of the common bile duct(one of them was complicated with perforation of the duodenum),2 had intraoperative hemorrhage;1 had postoperative perforation of the duodenum,2 had biliary leakage(treated by primary suture),1 had postoperative intra-abdominal hemorrhage,and 4 had residual stones in the bile duct.All the complications were cured.Conclusions Strict indications and high-level techniques are important factors for laparoscopic exploration of the common bile duct.The prognosis of the patients can be good as long as open surgery is carried out at proper time and the complications are treated appropriately.

Objective To study the relationships between serum interleukin-6, 8, 18 and the development, metastasis, curative effect and prognosis of lung cancer. Methods The serum interleukin-6, 8, 18 in 56 cases patients with lung cancer,18 cases patients with phthisis were determined by ELISA method before and after treatment, and 40 cases health people were control. Results The serum interleukin-6, 8, 18 level of patients with lung cancer was significantly higher than that in control groups and the patients with phthisis(P 0.05). Conclusion The serum interleukin-6, 8, 18 levels could reflected occurrence, development, metastasis and curative effect of the lung cancer in a certain extent, so it was importance for diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of lung cancer to combine examination IL-6, 8, 18.

ObjectiveTo investigate the therapeutic effects of advanced lung adenocarcinoma treated with TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation combined with Gefitinib.MethodsAll cases were recruited from adenocarcinoma of lung patients in Hunan Province Cancer Hospital from February 2008 to February 2010.These 56 adenocarcinoma of lung patients were randomly divided into a treatment group (30cases) and a control group (26 cases).The control group was treated with Gefitinib,250 mg/d,until the disease getting progress or the patient showing intolerable untoward reaction; while the treatment group was treated with TCM syndrome differentiation based on the control group.ResultsAfter the treatment,the total therapeutic effects was 90.00％ in the treatment group than 65.38％ in the control group (x2=5.40,P＜0.05); symptoms score in both group decreased after the treatment,comparing with the same group before the treatment,with the difference was statistical significance (tthe treatment group=9.2446,tthe control group=2.7778,both P＜0.01) ;non-progressive survival rate of half year,1year and 2year was 66.67％,50.00％ and 30.00％ respectively,and survival rate of lyear and 2yenr was 73.33％ and 46.67％ respectively,in the treatment group,while non-progressive survival rate of half year,lyear and 2year was 38.46％,23.08％ and 7.69％ respectively,and survival rate of 1year and 2year was 46.15％ and 19.23％ respectively,in the control group,showing statistical difference between the two groups (x2 value was 4.46、4.31、5.44、4.31、5.27,P value was 0.03、0.04、0.02、0.04、0.02,all P＜0.05 ) ; the effective power of KPS was 76.67％ and 46.15％ in the treatment and the control group respectively,showing statistical difference(x2=6.24,P＜0.05) ; both groups were absent of such side effects of hematology,heart,liver and kidney toxicity,and interstitial pneumonia,but the incidence rate of Ⅱ ～ Ⅲ degree rash and diarrhea was significantly decreased in the treatment group,comparing with the control group(x2=4.49、4.37,P＜0.05 ).ConclusionThe therapy of TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation combined with Gefitinib can improve living quality,control aggravation of disease,prolong life span and enhance survival rate of the patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma.

Objective To study the diagnostic value of the golgi protein 73 (GP73) combined with alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP) ,α‐L‐fucosidase (AFU) andα‐antitrypsin(α‐AT) detection in primary hepatic carcinoma(PHC) .Methods 100 patients with PHC ,100 patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis ,and 100 healthy people hospitalized in the hospital from October 2011 to May 2013 were en‐rolled in the study .Serum AFP levels were detected by using Beckman DxI800 chemiluminescent analyzer ,serum AFU ,α‐AT levels were detected by using Beckman DxC800 automatic biochemical analyzer ,and GP73 levels were measured by using enzyme‐linked immunosorbent GP73 quantitative detection kits .Results In patients with PHC and patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis ,serum GP73 ,AFP ,AFU ,α‐AT levels were significantly higher than healthy people(P<0 .05) .In patients with PHC ,GP73 ,AFP ,AFU ,α‐AT levels were significantly higher than those in patients with hepatitis and cirrhosis(P<0 .05) .The sensitivities of single serum GP73 ,AFP ,AFU ,α‐AT detection were 75% ,72% ,23% ,67% respectively and specificity were 95% ,95% ,100% ,97% respective‐ly .The sensitivity and specificity of the 4 tumor markers′combined detection were 99% and 100% .The sensitivity of combined de‐tection was significantly different from single detection(P<0 .05) .Conclusion GP73 ,AFP ,AFU ,α‐AT may improve the diagnostic efficiency of primary liver cancer .

Objective To investigate the relationship between adhesion molecule CD44v6,intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and lymph node metastasis in early stage of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.Methods Seventy-four specimens of cervical cancer stage Ⅰ b1,20 specimens of normal cervical tissue and 20 specimens of cervical squamous cell in situ carcinoma were collected from Jiangxi Provincial Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital.The expression of CD44v6 and ICAM-1 in cervical tissue was detected by real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry.The lymphatic vessel density (LVD) labeled by D2-40 was detected by immunohistochemistry.The relationship of CD44v6,ICAM-1 and LVD with the differentiation degree and lymph mode metastasis was investigated.Results The positive expression rate of CD44v6 and ICAM-1 in normal cervix,cervical squamous cell carcinoma in situ,and cervical carcinoma tissues was gradually increased,which were 0,75.00％,87.84％ and 10.00％,45.00％,81.08％ respectively.Their mRNA expression amount was gradually increased,which were 0,0.24±0.02,1.02±0.11 and 0.10 ± 0.00,0.19±0.02,1.03 ± 0.10 respectively,the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.01).LVD was gradually increased in normal cervix,cervical squamous cell carcinoma in situ,and cervical carcinoma (P＜0.01).The expression of CD44v6,ICAM-1 and LVD in low differentiated cervical carcinoma tissue was higher than that in high and middle differentiated cervical carcinoma (P＜0.01).The expression of CD44v6,ICAM-1and LVD in lymph node metastasis was higher than that in non-lymph node metastasis (P＜0.01).The expression of CD44v6,ICAM-1 and LVD in cervical cancer tissue had each two positive correlation (P＜0.01).Conclusion CD44v6 plays a promoting role in the progression of cervical cancer,which with ICAM-1 and LVD synergically promote the cervical cancer development,and could be used as an effective indicator for judging lymph node metastasis and diagnosis of cervical cancer.
