Intervening animals by pathogen of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to establish animal model is the most common and easiest method to determine syndrome attribute of an animal model. However, the underlying prob-lem of this modeling method is that the concept of wind, cold and dampness in the nature are confused with the syn-drome of wind-cold-dampness summarized by abnormal appearance of clinical patients. The typical animal model establishment are through the methods of wind blowing, low temperature freezing, cold water immersion, environmen-tal humidity increasing. Modern medical modeling methods, such as chemicals, organ resections, are also used in the establishment of animal models. Then, the syndrome-attribution of modeling animal is evaluated by physicochemical indexes of modern medicine which is one of modeling methods that have been used by academia in early times. But animal model established by this method is a kind of disease model which is lack of sufficient theoretical and clini-cal evidences. Therefore, the syndrome-attribution should be reappraised among this kind of animal models.

Objective To explore the effects and mechanism of ursolic acid ( UA) on cholesterol metabolism in human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 and mouse hepatocyte AML-12. Methods HepG2 and AML-12 cells were treated with different concentrations of UA (0,10,20,40 μmol·L-1)for 24 h, then the mRNA and protein expression of cholesterol 7alpha-hydroxylase (CYP7A1) and intracellular cholesterol level was detected by RT-PCR、Western blotting and enzymatic method, respectively. Results Compared with 0 μmol·L-1 UA, 20 μmol·L-1 and 40 μmol·L-1 UA significantly increased the expressions of CYP7A1 mRNA and protein(P<0. 05), and decreased intracellular cholesterol level in HepG2 and AML-12 cells (P<0. 05). Conclusion A certain concentration of UA can reduce the level of cholesterol in HepG2 and AML-12 cells. CYP7A1 may be involved in the regulation process.

Galectins can recognize and specifically bind to β-galactosidase,and regulate the transformation and survival of tumor cells,and promote the migration and metastasis of tumor cells,etc.Galectins correlate with tumor diagnosis,progression and prognosis.Galectias also can serve as immunoregulatory molecules to regulate the survival,activation,proliferation and differentiation of immune cells,and are components of tumor immune microenvironment.

Recent researches of the association between helicobacter pylori (Hp) and colorectal adenocarcinoma have found that Hp infection rate is higher in the patients with colorectal cancer and other related colorectal adenoma,which suggest that Hp probably influence on local and distant intestinal mucosa epithelial cells achieve carcinogenesis by its own virulence and the role of elevated serum gastrin levels.Hp infection may be a potential risk factor of colorectal cancer.

Objective To establish the method for simultaneous determination of epimedium glycoside and other 4 kinds of active ingredients in Xianling Gubao Capsules by three wavelength switching method. Methods An Waters Atlantis T3 C18 column (4.6 mm × 250 mm, 5 μm) was used with the mixture of acetonitrile-0.05％ formic acid solution as the mobile phase in gradient elution (0–5 min, 12％–20％ A; 5–15 min, 20％–55％ A; 15–35 min, 55％ A;35–55 min, 55％–76％ A; 55.1 min, 12％ A; 55.1–60 min, 12％ A). Detection wavelength was as follow: 0–30 min, 212 nm; 30–42 min, 246 nm; 42–60 min, 270 nm. The flow rate was 1.0 mL/min. The column temperature was 30 ℃. Results The calibration curves of asperosaponin Ⅵ, psoralen, angelicin, epimedin C, and icariin were in good linearity among the ranges of 101.6–3048 ng, 8.7–261 ng, 7.9–237 ng, 117.2–3516 ng, 78–2340 ng, respectively. In the instrument precision test, stability test, repeatability test, the RSD was less than 3％. The average recoveries were 99.83％, 100.35％, 100.59％, 100.60％, 99.72％, respectively, and all the RSD were less than 3％. Conclusion The method is sensitive, accurate, and separation effect is good, which can provide a basis for quality evaluation standard of Xianling Gubao Capsules.

Objective To evaluate and analyze the postoperative complications induced from the procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids(PPH).Methods The data of the third or fourth degree hemorrhoids operated by pro- cedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids were analyzed.Results Total 224 patients with hemorrhoids were operated on by PPH,and the mean operative time was 25 minutes and mean postoperative hospital stay were 3.5 days.Postoper- ative bleeding requiring haemostatic procedures occurred in two patients.Urine retention rate was 30.36%,there were 56 eases pain scores＞5,there of re-prolapse,16 cases of residual skin tags.One case of mucocele.Conclusion The rule of PPH is individual management.

Objective:This study aimed to observe the curative effect and adverse reaction of docetaxel combined with intraperitoneal cisplatin chemotherapy and hyperthermia treatment of advanced ovarian cancer. Methods:A total of 83 patients with inoperable and recurrent advanced ovarian cancer were randomly divided into two groups:hyperthermia group and control group. The hyperthermia group consisted of 42 cases of docetaxel chemotherapy immediately treated with intraperitoneal cisplatin chemotherapy combined with abdominal local hyperthermia. The control group included 41 cases of docetaxel chemotherapy and intraperitoneal cisplatin chemotherapy treatment only. Results:The total efficiencies of the hyperthermia treatment group and the control group were 81%and 58.1%, respectively, which showed that the total efficiency significantly improved (P<0.05). The ascite control rates were 78.3%and 66.7%and CA125 decreased by 84.2%and 61.5%for the hyperthermia and control groups, respectively. The main adverse reactions were gastrointestinal reaction and bone marrow suppression. However, differences were not statistically significant. Conclusion:Docetaxel combined with cisplatin intraperitoneal perfusion hyperthermia significantly improved the curative effect on advanced ovarian cancer without increasing toxicity, which indicates that it is a treatment worth popularizing.

Objective To evaluate if expression of serum retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) concentrations in cholesterol gallstone disease.Methods Serum RBP4 levels of 100 cholesterol gallstone disease patients (cholesterol gallstone disease group) and 147 healthy controls (healthy control group) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and further correlated with clinical and biochemical characteristics,including insulin resistance and renal function.The chemical composition of gallstones was determined by postoperative pathology.Results The level of RBP4 in cholesterol gallstone disease group was significantly lower than that in healthy control group [(30.57 ± 13.64 ) mg/L vs.(41.52 ± 20.25 ) mg/L](P＜ 0.01 ).The level of RBP4 was also associated with gallstone occurrence (OR =0.93,95％ CI:0.88 -0.96,P =0.004).Serum RBP4 levels of all subjects were positively correlated with total cholesterol,triglyceride,creatinine,insulin resistance and albumin ( P ＜ 0.05 or ＜ 0.01 ),and negatively correlated with aspartate aminotransferase (P ＜0.01).In multivariate analysis,cholesterol gallstone formation was significantly associated with a lower serum RBP4 level (OR =2.97,95％ CI:1.15 -7.68,P =0.025 ).Both gallstone patients and controls were subdivided into two groups according to ceatinine:≥ 88.40 μ mol/L group and ＜ 88.40 μ mol/L group.Patients with gallstones were found to have significantly lower serum RBP4 levels than controls in both subgroups (P =0.012,0.045 ).According to GFR,both gallstone patients and controls were subdivided into ≥ 90 ml/(min· 1.73 m2) group,60 - 89 ml/(min· 1.73 m2) group and ＜60 ml/ (min· 1.73 m2) group.It showed that a lower GFR was associated with greater serum RBP4 level in healthy control group.This trend was not noted in cholesterol gallstone disease group.Conclusions Serum RBP4 decreases in cholesterol gallstone disease independent of renal function.The relationship between liver function and RBP4 level in these patients deserves further investigation.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility, safety, and clinical outcome in patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy underwent cervical nerve root decompression using the anterior percutaneous endoscopic surgery.Methods Eleven subjects consisting of 6 men and 5 women treated from July 2012 to December 2013 were enrolled in the study.Mean age was 42.1 years (range, 27 to 63 years).All were diagnosed to be unilateral single-segment injury involving C3/4 in 1 case, C4/5 in 2 cases, C5/6 in 6 cases and C6/7 in 2 cases.Because of unsatisfactory results 6 week following the non-operative treatment, the patients were operated on using the anterior percutaneous endoscopic osteophyte removal and nerve root decompression.Operation time, postoperative complications, visual analogue scale (VAS) and modified Macnab scale were recorded.Results Operation time was (102.5 ± 21.3) min (range, 80-140 min).Nine patients were followed up for 12 months and no complications were noted.VAS improved significantly at postoperative 3 days and 1, 3, 6, as well as 12 months compared to the preoperative value (P ＜ 0.01).Modified Macnab scale presented great improvement at postoperative 3 and 12 months compared to the preoperative value (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The technique is reliable and effective in treatment of cervical spondylotic radiculopathy.
