Objective To test the reliability and validity of the self-assessed questionnaire of the elderly health care needs.Methods Based on the Zuluaga-Raysmith model, the initial questionnaire was formulated by literature reviewing and interviews.Through Delphi experts consultation, a questionnaire containing 12 factors, 61 items was constructed.A total of 750 elderly residents were investigated to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Results The effective rate of questionnaires was 88.67％ (665/750).The total Cronbach α was 0.871.The test-retest reliability of all the items were all greater than 0.75.The item-level content validity index were all greater than 0.80.The scale-level content validity index was 0.95.14 factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis, explaining 66.653％ of the total variance.Conclusions The elderly health care needs self-assessed questionnaire is comprehensive with good stability, which can be used in a multi-center, large sample research.The research may help to get a deep understanding of health care needs of the elderly as well as influencing factors.

Objective To discuss the prognostic impact of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF).Methods From January,2005 through December,2006 we studied 461 patients with a discharge diagnosis of CHF.Patients were divided by baseline rhythm in sinus rhythm(SR) or AF groups.The main endpoints were all cause death within 3 years and readmission to the hospital for heart failure.Results AF group were more likely to be older and female and to have a history of valvular disease and have a higher left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF).However,SR group were more likely to have a history of ischemic heart disease.During 3 year follow-up,the main endpoints was higher in AF group than in those with SR group (P ＜0.01).After adjusting for other covariables,AF and age were related to increased the risk of main endpoints during 3 years follow-up (RR =1.311,95％ CI:1.002-1.715,P ＜0.05 ; RR =1.014,95％ CI:1.004-1.024,P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion AF and age were the main risk factors of increased adverse forward prognosis in patients with CHF.

Objective To study the gender differences in echocardiography in essential hypertensives. Methods Echocardiography measurement was performed in 108 subjects with Grade 1-2 essential hypertension (52 in female patient group, PGf, and 56 in male patient group, PGm). Forty two normotensive subjects (20 in female control group, CGf, and 22 in male control group, CGm) were as controls.Data were obtained by averaging measurements of the traced heart chambers and velocity curves in 5 cardiac cycles. Results Compared with PGm, the following echocardiographic features in PGf were showed:LAID (37.24±5.88 vs 32.14±3.80)mm,P＜0.01] and MVa[(84.18±12.13 vs 81.71±12.30)cm/s, P＜0. 05] were greater; LVMI [ ( 119.26 ± 22.33 vs 128.17 ± 27.00 ) g/m2 , P＜0. 05], EF ( 75.13 % ±6.69% vs 83.00% ±3.68%,P＜0. 01), FS (41.67% ±7.99%0 vs 49.03% ± 7.35%, P＜0.01), MVe[(68. 28±8.66 vs 73. 73±11.46)cm/s, P＜0. 05] and MVe/a(0.83±0. 08 vs 0. 93±0.11, P＜0.01)were lower. The differences between CGf and CGm were not significant. Conclusion There are echocardiographic differences between sexes in hypertensives including cardiac structural and functional changes. Hypertensive woman is more susceptible to both cardiac structure damage and cardiac dysfunction.

Objective: To study the health effects of selenium tea on cardiovascular system. Methods : Four groups of Wistar rats were fed standard diet and water, standard diet and selenium tea , high fat diet and water ,high fat diet and selenium tea respectively. Twelve weeks later, the plasma apoA , apoB, body weight, whole blood viscosity , plasma viscosity , and hematorcrit were determined while plasma fibrinogen and inhibition of erythrocyte aggregation were calculated. Results: At the end of the experiment ,the plasma apoA level of selenium tea groups was significantly higher than that of control group, while the ratio of apoB/apoA was significantly lower than that of control group. Selenium tea decreased the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity and inhibited erythrocyte aggregation and body weight. Conclusion: Selenium tea could significantly improve the lipoprotein metabolism and hermorrheology and decrease body weight of the rats fed high fat diet.

Objective To detect levels of serum platelet activating factor(PAF),thrombomodulin(TM) and white blood cell(WBC),platelet count(PLT) in neonates with meconium aspiration syndrome(MAS),and observe changes of mediators of inflammation and function of endotheliocute.Methods All cases were taken vein blood in 24 h and 72-96 h after birth.Surm PAF and TM were detected by EILSA technique,at the same time,blood cell counts were determined.Results PAF and WBC in neonates with MAS increased,which were relevant to the patients′ condition.TM of neonates with MAS increased significantly,especially in 72-96 h after birth and(aggrava)-ted with the patients′ condition.Conclusion Neonates with MAS have inflammatory reaction and injured endotheliocyte,which are(inte)-raction.

Objective:To study the effects of Astragalus Root Injection(a traditional Chinese herb medicine) on oxaliplatin-induced apoptosis of hippocampal neurons. OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical efficacy of incising spinal pia mater to relieve pressure and unilateral open-door laminoplasty with internal screw fixation for treatment of the dated spinal cord injury.

METHODSFrom March, 2009 to July, 2010, 16 cases with chronic cervical cord injury underwent spinal dura mater incision and unilateral open-door laminoplasty with internal screw fixation. Nerve functions of pre- and postoperation were evaluated by Frankel classification and the Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) scale.The improvement rate of JOA score at the indicated time was recorded.

RESULTSPostoperative Frankel classification rating of 16 patients improved obviously.JOA scores at the 1st month, 3rd month, 6th month, and 12th month after surgery were 7.9 ± 2.3, 8.5 ± 1.6, 8.9 ± 2.1, and 12.4 ± 2.5, respectively, and significantly increased compared with that prior to surgery (5.5 ± 0.6). At the end of follow-up period, JOA score was significantly higher than that of pre-treatment (P<0.05). The recovery was relatively rapid during the first 3 months following the surgery, then entered a platform period.

CONCLUSIONIt is effective for patients with dated spinal cord injury to undergo spinal decompression and laminoplasty.
