Objective To investigate the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii infection and awareness of toxoplasmosis?related knowledge among women with poor pregnant outcomes in Wuxi City. Methods A total of 217 women with poor pregnant out?comes from Wuxi City during the period of January 2011 to December 2015 were randomly selected as the study subjects( a study group),while 250 women with normal pregnancy were served as controls(a control group). The sero?prevalence of T. gon?dii infection was detected by using ELISA and compared between the study and control groups. The awareness of toxoplasmosis?related knowledge was investigated by using a self?designed questionnaire and compared between the study and control groups. Results The positive rate of anti?Toxoplasma antibody was 30.88%in the study group, which was significantly higher than that (8.8%)in the control group(χ2 =36.7,P<0.01). The positive rates of anti?Toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibodies were 20.74%and 10.14% in the study group respectively, which were significantly higher than those(6% and 2.8%)in the control group (χ2=22.53 and 10.74,both P values<0.01). In addition, the positive rates of anti?Toxoplasma, anti?Toxoplasma IgG and IgM antibodies were significantly higher in the women with missed miscarriage, natural abortion, stillbirth and birth defect than those in the women with normal pregnancy(all P values<0.05). The awareness rates of“Do you hear about Toxoplasma or toxo?plasmosis?”(P<0.01),“Do you know that breeding pet cats or dogs may cause Toxoplasma infection?”(P<0.05)and“Do you know that pregnancy women require the detection of Toxoplasma infection?”(P<0.01)were significantly lower in the study group than those in the control group, while no significant differences were seen in the awareness rates of“Do you know that eat?ing hot pot may cause Toxoplasma infection?”,“Do you know that the use of chopping block in regardless of cooked and un?cooked food may cause Toxoplasma infection?”,“Do you know that Toxoplasma infection may transfer from mother to fetus?”,“Do you know that Toxoplasma infection may cause adverse pregnant outcomes like abortion, stillbirth or fetal abnormalities ?”, and“Do you know that the women infected with T. gondii during pregnancy require treatment?”between the two groups(all P values>0.05). Conclusions This study demonstrates higher prevalence of T. gondii infection in women with poor pregnant out?comes than in those with normal pregnancy in Wuxi City. Considering the harm of T. gondii infection during pregnancy and the low awareness of toxoplasmosis?related knowledge in pregnant women, the health education of toxoplasmosis?related knowledge should be strengthened, especially for pregnant women,so as to reduce the prevalence of T. gondii infection among pregnant women to improve the better child?bearing and rearing level.
5.Superior mesenteric veinous thrombosis with Bacteroides fragilis infection: a case report
China Tropical Medicine 2023;23(5):560-
Abstract: Superior mesenteric veinous thrombosis (SMVT) is a rare complication that often occurs in conjunction with intra-abdominal diseases such as diverticulitis, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, etc. Its clinical symptoms are non-specific and include fevers, abdominal pain; it has no specific symptoms, and the diagnosis depends on clinical laboratory tests and imaging studies. The occurrence of superior mesenteric veinous thrombophlebitis is related to septic phlebitis caused by the sloughing of the embolus containing bacteria into the portal vein with blood flow. Due to the nonspecific clinical features of this disease, diagnosing it based on clinical characteristics and microbiological aspects is a challenge. A case of superior mesenteric veinous septic thrombophlebitis caused by Bacteroides fragilis infection is reported and to provide a reference for the diagnosis and treatment of such diseases. The patient was a 34-year-old man who was admitted the hospital with intermittent abdominal pain and fever. Computed tomography (CT) showed partial thrombosis of the superior mesenteric vein, colonoscopy revealed diverticulitis in the ileoceca, and the blood culture grew Bacteroides fragilis. The patient was treated with anti-infection (ceftazidime 2.0 g q12h intravenous infusion for 11 days; metronidazole 0.5 g, q8h intravenous infusion for 3 days) and anticoagulation (rivaroxaban 20 mg qd orally for 8 days. On the 11th day of hospitalization, the patient's condition improved, and he was discharged. In this case, for patients with fever and abdominal pain, superior mesenteric venous thrombophlebitis should be included in the differential diagnosis. Through auxiliary examination, blood sample culture and other technologies, clear diagnosis should be made in time to improve patient outcomes.

Objective To explore the effects of microwave irradiation on the proliferation of keloid-derived fibroblasts so as to analyze the expression of collagen-1 and the activation of the signaling pathway involved. Methods Cells from a human keloid scar were cultured in vitro and randomly divided into a control group withont any intervention,a 10 mW/cm2 microwave irradiation (10-MI) group and a 20 mW/cm2 microwave irradiation (20-MI) group.Aliquots of the latter 2 groups were irradiated at their corresponding intensities for 5 min,15 min and 30 min.The growth of fibroblasts was evaluated using MTT assay. The expression of collagen-1 and changes in the phosphorylation of protein JNK were detected using western blotting. Results Compared with the control group,no significant differences in the average growth of the keloid-derived fibroblasts were observed in the 10-MI group, but significant differences were observed in the 20-MI group and among the three sub-groups irradiated for different durations. The expression of type 1 collagen was significantly down-regulated after irradiation in a time-dependent manner. After microwave radiation at 20 mW/cm2,JNK was significantly activated compared to the control group at the different time points. Conclusions Microwave irradiation at 20 mW/cm2 can significantly inhibit the proliferation of keloid-derived fibroblasts and the down-regulalion is correlated with the irradiation's duration. It can also significantly inhibit collagen-1 expression and relieve scar formation through activating the JNK signal pathway.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2017;35(7):488-490
Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) in children. Methods The clinical data of 67 children with PSVT were analyzed retrospectively, and the therapeutic effects of different treatments were compared. Results The clinical manifestations of infants were paleness, shortness of breath, irritability and sweating, and children showed chest tightness, palpitations, abdominal discomfort and fatigue. The curative effect of electric cardioversion, transesophageal atrial pacing, physical therapy, and drug therapy was statistically different (P<0.05), The different cardioversion rates of them were observed for the treatment of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. The cardioversion rate of transesophageal atrial pacing, was the highest, and the rate of physical therapy was the lowest. There was no significant difference in the cardioversion rate between propafenone, digoxin and amiodarone. Conclusion The clinical manifestations of PSVT in infants are atypical and easily to be ignored. There are many methods for treatment of PSVT. The vagus nerve can be stimulated first, and, if no response, either drugs or electric cardioversion and transesophageal atrial pacing can be used. The cardioversion rate of transesophageal atrial pacing is higher. The drug effectiveness for the treatment of PSVT depends on many factors, and our choice of medication varies from person to person.
