Objective:To investigate the acid resistance of tooth hard tissues irradiated by different power outputs of Er,Cr∶YSGG laser.Methods:Samples in laser groups were irradiated using Er,Cr∶ YSGG laser with the power outputs of 2.5,3.5 and 5 W for enamel and 2 W,3 W and 4 W for dentin,respectively.The calcium and phosphate ion dissolved was measured after decalcification in lactate buffer solution for 24 h.The atomic percentage of calcium and phosphate on the surface of samples was examined by X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy and the morphological changes were investigated by SEM.Results:In all laser groups of enamel samples except 2.5 W group calcium and phosphate ion dissolved less than in control group and block group (P＜0.05).There's no statistic difference between different power groups.Compared with control group and block group,Ca/P ratio increased(P＜0.05).There's no statistic difference of the atomic percentage of Ca and P on the surface of dentin samples between each 2 groups.SEM observation showed that the surface of the laser irradiated samples was rouph,the space among enamel fibers was increased,the dentin around dentinal tuble orifice was protruded and looked like collar flange.Conclusion:Er,Cr∶YSGG laser irradiation with a range of power is effective in increasing acquired acid resistance of dental hard tissue.There was no relationship between laser power outputs and acid resistance.

Objective To evaluate the feasibility and safety of video-assisted rigid bronchoscopy in the treatment of benign tumors of tracheobronchus.Methods Seven patients with benign tumors of tracheobronchus were managed with video-assisted rigid bronchoscopic surgery in this hospital from September 2002 to April 2005.The endoscopic procedure was performed under general transvenous anesthesia and jet ventilation.The tumor was firstly frozen or electocoagulated for better bleeding control,and then was removed with a biopsy clamp by parts,with the pedicle treated with freezing,coagulation or argon plasma coagulation(APC).For tumors with a broad pedicle,after the bulk of tumor was ablated under bronchoscope,a conversion to open local resection was carried out.Results All the 7 operations was accomplished smoothly without mortality or severe morbidity.Except one patient with broad pedicle leiomyoma which was resected through thoracotomy after airway clean-up and intubation,all 6 patients with narrow pedicle tumors underwent a complete tumor removal endoscopically.Postoperative pathological reports confirmed the benign diagnosis as 2 cases of hamartoma,3 cases of leiomyoma,1 case of acidophilus granuloma,and 1 case of inflammation.Follow-up observations in the 7 patients for 3~36 months(mean,17.3 months) showed no recurrence.Conclusions Video-assisted rigid bronchoscopy in the treatment of benign tumors of tracheobronchus is safe and reliable.

Objective To analyze diagnostic experience of children with anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) and assess its surgical results.Methods Six children with ALCAPA had been diagnosed in our hospital from Mar. 2006 to Oct.2007 aged from 6 months to 10 years old(median 43.5 months).The medical data included common clinical presentations,the findings of electrocardiogram(ECG),the echocardiogram,ECG-gated 64-slice computed tomography,the digital subtraction angiogram (DSA),surgical records and the outcome.Results Diaphoresis,fantod,breathlessness and difficult feeding were commonly presented in 5 cases ALCAPA and the 5 children presented with left ventricular failure in infancy.The predominant ECG findings were Q waves and ST segment changes in the anterolateral chest leads in 4 cases,ST changes in 1 case,and normal ECG in 1 case.Cross-sectional echocardiography showed dilated left ventricles with poor contractility in 4 cases,medium mitral regurgitation in 2 cases and severe mitral regurgitation in 2 cases,aneurysmal dilatation of the right coronary artery(RCA) in 2 cases.CT and DSA examinations showed characteristic changes in these children.The surgical reestablishment of a two-coronary system was performed in 5 cases,direct reimplantation in 2 cases and creation of an autologous extrapulmonary tunnel in 3 cases.Simultaneous mitral annuloplasty was performed in 2 cases.After operation,the symptoms of 5 cases were all improved and none died.Conclusions Understanding the clinical manifestations and lab findings of ALCAPA is helpful to making an early diagnosis of ALCAPA.Early surgical treatment can improve the patients′ outcome.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule therapy on upper respiratory infection.Methods 120 cases of acute upper respiratory infection were randomly separated into an experiment group and a control group.The experiment group was treated by Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule;while the control group was treated by Yin-Huang pills.Results There was significant difference of cure rate between the experiment group(75%)and the control group(51.6%),with P＜0.01.There was no significant difference of total effective rate between the experiment group(96.6%)and the control group(88.3%),with P＞0.05.Conclusion Yin-Huang pills combined with Banlangen granule therapy was more effective in controlling acute upper respiratory infection,and this therapy caused few adverse effects.

Objective To investigate neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of adult rat following conditioned fear stimulus.Methods 24 adult male rats were randomly divided into conditioned fear stimulus group and control group,and all rats were intraperitoneally injected bromodeoxyuridine(BrdU)3 days before conditioned fear stimuli.Animals in conditioned fear stimulus group were given monotone matching foot shock and made conditioned fear stimulus model,animals in control group only give monotone.Freezing time was detected before stimuli and 7th,14th days after stimuli,then rats were sacrificed 7th or 14th day after fear conditioned stimulus,and immunohistochemistry for Brdu was detected.Results Behavioral assessment showed that the percents of freezing time in conditioned fear stimulus group 7th,14th days after conditioned fear stimulus were significantly high(88.68%,91.33%)than those in control group(11.18%,14.23%,P<0.01)and before stimulus(24.11%,16.11%,P<0.01).Compared to control group(1567±28,580±5),Brdu positive cells in dentate gyrus of rat in conditioned fear stimulus group(1364±21,296±22)were decreased,and it reached to a statistical significance on 14th day (P<0.05).Conclusion The decreased neurogenesis in the dentate gyrus of adult rat following conditioned fear stimuli may have relation to fear and other emotion memory.

Objective To explore the methods and effects of specialty training for wound care. Methods Fourteen nurses working and studying in the wound care center received specialty training of wound care. Their current knowledge and train-ing needs were assessed through writing test and symposium before the training. Then,the training contents and plan were de-signed. The training duration was identified as 3-6 months. The open teaching method was applied in the training directed by the entrostomal therapists(ET). According to the evaluation index,the nurses were asked to finish a reading report in the first month,a case report in the second month,and group discussion on a case of complicated wound care the third month. In ad-dition,they needed to finish the exam of wound care theory and skills every three months. The correlations between perfor-mance in the examination and the nurses' age,years of working experlence,educational level,professional title,duration and times of training by correlation analysis. Results The times of training was significantly correlated with the performance in the examination(r=-0.49,P<0.05),especially with the performance of case report,reading report,and group discussion on compli-cated wound care(r=0.51,-0.60,P<0.05). There was no correlation between the performance with nurses' age,years of working experience,educational level,professional title and duration of training. Conclusion One time of specialty training at least 3 months can achieve good effect. The times of training is correlated with the training effect,especially in case report,reading report and group discussion on complicated wound care.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of sinusitis in poorly controlled asthma children.Methods Asthmatic children from the Asthma Specialist Department of Hunan Provincial People's Hospital were selected as the study cases,of which 107 children coughing for more than 4 weeks after treatment were allocated to the research group and 105 newly diagnosed asthmatic children were selected as the control group.Results 1.The CT confirmed sinusitis prevalence was 81.3％ (87/107 cases) in research group and 51.4％ (54/105 cases) in the control group,respectively.The 2 groups were significantly different (x2 ＝ 21.242,P ＜ 0.05).2.The patient complained nasal obstruction in sinusitis group was 80.5％ (70/87 cases) compared to 50.0％ (10/20 cases) in non sinusitis group,and the difference between 2 groups was statistically significant (x2 =7.997,P ＜ 0.05).3.In the research group,69.2％ (74/107 cases) suffered from maxillary sinusitis,61.7％ (66/107 cases) ethmoid sinusitis,14.0％ (15/107 cases) frontal sinusitis,and 30.8％ (33/107 cases) sphenoid sinusitis.All the 4 nasosinus involved was 10.3％ (11/107 cases).The frequency of allergic rhinitis symptoms in 4 groups of sinuses had no significant difference (P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Chronic cough in poorly controlled asthma children is related to sinusitis and upper airway cough syndrome.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Compound Ezhu Powder (CEP) on serum levels of CA125 and CA19-9, and the expression of cyclin D protein in endometriosis patients, thus providing theoretical evidence for clinical application of CEP.

METHODSTotally 69 all endometriosis patients underwent surgical treatment at Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Tianjin Nankai Hospital from January 2011 to January 2013 were randomly assigned to group A (35 cases) and group B (34 cases). Meanwhile, 30 patients with uterine fibroids who prepared for surgical treatment during the same period were recruited as the control group. Patients in group A took EZP 3 months before surgery. No treatment was given to patients in group B and the control group. The serum CA125 level and the expression of cyclin D in the ectopic endometrium and the eutopic endometrium were detected in the 3 groups before surgery.

RESULTSThe expression of cyclin D was higher in group A and group B than in the control group (P < 0.05). The serum levels of CA125 and CA19-9 were significantly lower in group A than in group B (P < 0.05). The expression of cyclin D in the ectopic endometrium was lower in group A than in group B, but with no statistical difference (P > 0.05). The expression of cyclin D in the eutopic endometrium was significantly lower in group A than in group B with statistical difference (P < 0.05). Meanwhile, the serum CA125 level was positively correlated with the serum CA19-9 level (r = 0.45, P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSThe expression of cyclin D obviously increased in endometriosis patients, which was associated with the occurrence of endometriosis. CEP could lower serum levels of CA125 and CA19-9, and down-regulate the expression level of cyclin D, indicating its roles in inhibiting the cell cycle.
