1.MECHANISM OF STIMULATING EFFECT OF 1,25-DIHYDROXYVITAMIN D_3 ON INDUCTION OF NEOVASCULARIZATION DURING GASTRIC CARCINOGENESIS INDUCED BY N-METHYL- N′-NITRO-N-NITROSOGUANIDINE IN RATS
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2001;0(08):-
To study the mechanism ofstimulating effect of 1,25 dihydroxyvitamin D 3 on induction of neovascularization during gastric carcinogenesis induced by N methyl N′ nitro N nitrosoguanidine in rats, gastric carcinogenesis in rats was induced by administration of MNNG (150mg/L) in drinking water. Four weeks after MNNG exposure, rats were fed with diet containing 1,25(OH) 2 D 3 (2.5?g/kg, 5.0?g/kg) . Animals were killed at week 16, and 32 for the study of neovascularization by cardiovascular perfusion with carbon ink and immunohistochemical staining of vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF). Expression of VEGF and microvessel density in glandular stomach of rats receiving 1,25(OH) 2 D 3 ( 5.0?g/kg) in the diet dramatically increased when compared with the rats receiving MNNG alone at week 16, and the differences were more significant at week 32. Expression of VEGF was closely correlated with microvessel density. We propose that certain dose of 1,25(OH) 2 D 3 stimulated neovascularization during gastric carcinogenesis in rats induced by MNNG partly through increasing VEGF expression.
2.Combined therapy on chronic nasal-sinusitis
Chinese Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2006;0(01):-
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of combined therapy on chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS). METHODS Thirty cases with CRS in stage Ⅱ-2 were treated by FESS. At 1,3,6-month after operation, endoscopy and nasal mucosa biopsy were performed and the clinic symptoms were reassessed. RESULTS Although fine mucosal epithelization was found in all cases at 6 month after operation, mild edema of mucosa and muciform secretion still existed in 10 cases. Mucociliary transport rate (MTR) was 3.63?1.74 mm/min before operation, and was 6.27?1.31 mm/min at 6-month after operation. Compared with that before operation, the MTR was significantly improved whereas it had not rehabilitated to normal status. The decrease of inflammatory cells and alleviation of submucosal edema were observed in the mucosa of maxillary sinus. Nevertheless, the number of goblet cells and submucosa glands did not improve significantly. The ultrastructure of the mucosa was not recovered completely at 6 month after operation. CONCLUSION With combined therapy on CRS for 6 months, clinical cure can be achieved, but mucosal inflammatory reaction is still existed.

4.Animal models of Peyronie's disease: An update.
National Journal of Andrology 2016;22(5):446-449
Peyronie's disease is characterized by local fibrosis of the tunica albuginea and relatively rare clinically. Few relevant basic researches could be retrieved, which might be attributed to the absence of a robust animal model of the disease as well as to its rareness. At present, some animal models available for Peyronie's disease have their own merits and demerits. TGF-β1-induced and Fibrin-induced models are lack of penile curvature and calcification/ossification. A surgical model might be established for the acute phase of the disease. The characteristic of a widespread fibrotic process involving many organs in the spontaneous model is quite different from that of human Peyronie's disease. Therefore, choosing the right model is essential for researches. This paper presents an overview of the animal models of Peyronie's disease, meant to provide some reference for the basic research of the disease.

AIM: To investigate the effects and mechanisms of renin-angiotensin system (RAS) blockade on pancreatic islet β-cell function in rats with injection of streptozotocin (STZ) and long-term high-fat diet. METHODS: Normal male Wistar rats fed with 16 weeks-long high calorie, and high-fat diet were treated with telmisartan (TI, n=15), and injected with STZ after 24 weeks. One week later, islet function was evaluated by intravenous insulin releasing test (IVIRT). The immunoglobulin binding protein (BIP)/glucose-regulated protein (GRP78), C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP)/growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible gene 153 (GADD153) mRNA expression levels in the islets were detected by RT-PCR. The expression levels of insulin and Bax protein in the islets were examined by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: The incidence of diabetes was 80%(12/15)in the high-fat diet+STZ group (HS) and 33% (5/15) in the high-fat diet+STZ+ telmisartan group (TS). Compared to HS group, maximum of insulin secretion in TS group was increased 56.9%. Early insulin secretion index (EISI) and acute insulin response (AIR) were increased by 1.98 times and 0.88 times, respectively. The expression of insulin and insulin positive cell density (PCD) were increased obviously in β-cells. The expression levels of BIP, CHOP and Bax in the islets were decreased significantly. CONCLUSION: Blockade of RAS increases the resistance to streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats with long-term high-fat diet, and the expression of apoptosis-related molecules is downregulated in endoplasmic reticulum. The mechanism that RAS blockade improves pancreatic islets function and reduces diabetes incidence to some extent may be via attenuating endoplasmic reticulum stress.
