Objective To investigate the expression of vascular endothial growth faetor(VEGF) proliferating cell nudear antigen(PCNA) and their biological significance was studied in papillary thyroid carcinoma and normal thyroid tissues. Methods Immuohistochemismy S-P technique was used to examine the expression of VEGF and PCNA in specimens of 58 papillary thyroid carcinoma and 19 normal thyroid tissues. Results The positive rates of VEGF and PCNA in papillary thyroid were higher than those in normal thyroid tissues( P＜0.01 ), and a positive correlation between these two expressions existed in papillary thyroid carcinoma. Conclusion VEGF and PCNA could be regarded as parameters to evaluate the biological behavior and they might be the indices for juvant diagnosis and evaluation of papillary thyroid cancer.

AIM: To compare the visual effects of optimized aspheric transition zone Laser in situ keratomileusis (OAT z-LASIK )versus conventional Laser in situ keratomileusis (con. LASIK).METHODS: In a prospective study 44 patients (88 eyes)underwent OAT z -LASIK and 50 patients (92 eyes) received conventional LASIK surgery. Visual acuity,refractions、contrast sensitivity (CS),glare sensitivity (GS), and increment of Q-value after surgery were studied.RESULTS: All of operations on 94 cases were successful without severe complication after 3 months' follow-up. There was no significant difference in term of postoperative refractions between the two groups (t-test,P＞0.05). The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA), CS, GS, and increment of Q-value of OAT z group were significantly better compared to the tradition group 3 months after the surgery (P＜0.05).CONCLUSION: OAT z - LASIK is a more effective procedure to improve visual quality compared to conventional LASIK.

Objective To investigate the expression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α)gene in rat cerebral cortex neurons under hypoxia conditions,and provide more experimental basis for clinical treatment of hypoxic brain disease.Methods The rat cerebral cortical neurons in primary culture and hypoxia model were prepared and identified by immunocytochemistry analysis.The expression of HIF-1α in normal and hypoxic neurons was detected at 4 time points (12 h,24 h,48 h and 72 h) by immunohistochemical analysis.Results The expression of HIF-1α positive cells in normal control (NC) group was less at each time point,and it showed no statistically significant within groups.The weak expression of HIF-1α was found at 12 h in hypoxic group,and the expression augmented along with the time extended,it increased obviously at 24 h,reached the peak at 48 h(IOD＝0.27±0.02,F＝35.703,t＝11.795,P＜0.01),and declined until 72 h,it showed statistical significance between two groups at each time point.Conclusions The expression of HIF-1α is increased after hypoxia.HIF-1α has a protective effect on neurons after hypoxia.

Objective:To study quality of life and life satisfaction among the elderly population dwelling in Ji'nan. Method:1386 elderly people were interviewed with“the Short-Form 36 Health Survey Scale”by the investigators who were trained in advance.Results:The prevalence rate of chronic diseases was 65.1%. The main influencing factors of life satisfaction were mental health condition, family harmony, marriage condition, chronic diseases, and income. The main influencing factors of life quality are life satisfaction, chronic diseases, mental health condition, activities of daily life, family harmony, and income.Conclusion:Life satisfaction is closely associated with life quality of elderly people. The physical, psychological, social and economic conditions have significant effect on life quality of elderly people.

Objective To study the biologic characteristics of the new qnr gene subtype and multi-drug resistant mechanism in a clinical isolate of Klebsiella oxytoca.Methods We cloned and expressed the qnr gene,?-lactamase and integrase genes were detected by PCR.Results Susceptibility of transformant containing qnr gene against common fluoroquinolones was 3~25 times lower than recipient stain,but drug-resistance was 4~256 times lower than the clinical isolate.KLUC-1,TEM-1 and OXA-30 genes were also found in the isolate.Conclusions qnr gene can raise the drug-resistance to fluoroquinolones slightly. There are multiple drug-resistant genes in the strain containing the qnr gene.

Objective To observe the effect of Yinhuang freeze-dried powder injection on nervous system of rats and mice,and to probe its safety.Methods After injected Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection nerve system and general behavior of rat or mouse were observed.Results Yinghuang freeze-dried powder didn’t affect rat’s or mouse’s general behavior,but had certain central nevous system suppression function in rats and mice.Conclusion Yinghuang freeze-dried powder have certain central nevous system suppression function in rats and mice.

Objective To observe the rat chronic toxicity induced by Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection. Methods The rats were given Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection for 35 days with the doses of 166.5, 82.25, 41.12 mg/kg and for 15 days of stopping administration. The index sign of hematology and biochemistry were determined, and the pathological examination were carried out. Results The rat were given Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection for 35 days and for 15 days of stopping administration. Mostly index sign of hematology and biochemistry had no significant difference by comparing with the control. There exceptional index sign of exceptional dosage group have significant difference by comparing with the control. But these exceptional index sign fluctuated in normal range in the laboratory. The pathological examination did not discover significant pathological changes related to drug toxicity. Conclusion Yinghuang freeze-dried powder injection has no significant toxicity for long-term administration on rats. It infers that the drawing up doses in clinic will be safe.
