Ovarian neoplasms,composed predominantly or exclusively of small round cells with scant cytoplasm,is relatively rare.However,there is a wide range of differentiation,and pathologists often struggle to make a correct diagnosis because of its overlapping histological features.Perhaps the best known neoplasm of this kind is ovarian small cell carcinoma of the hypercalcemic type,which may be confused with a wide range of neoplasm from sex cord-stromal tumor to neoplasm in the family of small round blue cell tumor to various undifferentiated malignancies.Small cell carcinoma of the pulmonary type may also arise from the ovary,and this may be a component of a typical ovarian surface epithelial-stromal tumor.Other small cell neoplasm that may arise within the ovary or involve the ovary includes intra-abdominal desmoplastic small round cell tumor,metastatic small cell carcinoma,peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor,and endometrial stromal sarcoma.In this review,the morphologic features of some of these neoplasms are described,as well the value of immunohistochemistry and other ancillary techniques in establishing a diagnosis.

OBJECTIVE To investigate infection of Chlamydia trachomatis(CT) and Ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu) in patients with nongonococcal urethritis(NGU). METHODS C.trachomatis was determined by fast immune method of antigen-antibody.U.urealyticum was detected by liquid culture medium. RESULTS Among 320 cases the positive rate of C.trachomatis,and U.urealyticum was 36.25% and 43.75%,respectively.and that of complicated infection was 20.00%.There were significant differences between men and women in C.trachomatis and U.urealyticum infection(P

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the significance of transnasal endoscopic optic decompression in traumatic optic neuropathy. METHODS Four patients with blindness from traumatic optic neuropathy were treated with transnasal endoscopic optic decompression. RESULTS Two patients improved in visual acuity to CF/50 cm and light perception. Two patients didn’t improve after surgery. CONCLUSION Transnasal endoscopic optic decompression is significant in the management of traumatic optic neuropathy due its effectiveness and minimal invasiveness. It’s implications can be enlarged under some circumstances.

The present study is designed to investigate the histochemical changes of cholinesterase, norepinephrine in nuc. Supraopticus and locus coeruleus of rats following electo-acupuncture and their possible relation to pain threshold. The preliminary results indicated that the elevation of pain threshold following electro-acupuncture concomittantly with increase in histochemical reaction of cholinesterase, and norepinephrine both in nuc. Supraopticus and locus coeruleus of electro-acupunctured rats. The increase in intensity was shown to be correlated with the elevation of pain threshold. The intensity of increased cholinesterase activity was more obvious in the animals with pain threshold elevated for above two folds than those elevated only one fold. On the other hand, the higher intensity of norepinephrine was obser ed in locus coeruleus with one fold of elevation of pain threshold. The significance of the changes in these two nuclei and their possibld function were briefly discussed.

Objective To compare the efficacy of minimally invasive pereutaneous nephrosomy for complicated renal calculi between holimium laser hthotfipsy and ultrasonic lithotripsy.Methods 120 patients with renal calculi according to the different treatment methods,were divided into holimium laser lithotfipsy group 60 cases(group A)and tdtrasonic lithotripsy group 60 cases(group B).The index of operative time、hemoglobin drop blood transfusion rate、postoperative hospital stay、stone clearance rate were observed.Results Operative time(60.8±16.4)min,postoperative hospital stay(7.5±2.0)d in group A were shorter than[(80.5±18.5)min,(9.5±2.5)d]in group B (t=2.328,2.240,all P＜O.05);Hemoglobin decline(5.0%)in group A was lower than the(9.0%)in group B (x2=3.89,P＜0.05);Calculi clearance rate(81.7%)in the B group was highter than that(61.6%)in group B (x2=3.98,P＜0.05);Complication incidence of postoperative 10.O%in group A compared with group B 13.3%had no significant difference(x2=1.56,P＞0.05).Conclusion Percutaneous nephrostomy with ultrasonic lithotripter for complicated renal calculi had the advantages of mini-invasion,less operative time,less bleeding,and faster clearance calculi efficiency compared with laser lithotripsy.

Investigation of simvastatin and its related substances was carried out using a reversed phase ultra performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry method. The identification of impurities in simvastatin was performed with a triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer, with an electrospray ionization (ESI) source in the negative/positive ion mode. A total of 12 compounds were characterized in commercial samples, among which 2 impurities had never been reported. All the impurities were deduced based on the MS fragment pathways of simvastatin and the biosynthetic pathway of lovastatin. This work provides very useful information for quality control of simvastatin.

Objective To analyze the endoscopic and pathologic characters of acute graft versus host disease(aGVHD) after aUogeneie bone marrow transplantation.Methods The endoscopic and pathologic findings of 4 patients with acute aGVHD were retrospectively analyzed.Results The clinical manifestations of 4 patients were abdominal pain and diarrhea occurred 21～57 days after bone marrow transplantation.The eolonoseopy detected mucosa edema,erosion and multiple ulcers.The pathological findings included epithelial necrosis accompanied with infiltration of lympbocytes and plasmacytes,no cytomegalovirus was found in biopsies,and aGVHD was diagnosed.Three patients recovered after the treatment with corticosteroids,while the other one died.Conclusion The intestine is involved in aGVHD after allogeneie bone marrow transplantation,and the diagnosis depends on eolonoscopy and biopsy.
