ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of early electro-acupuncture treatment on prevention of post-operative adhesions.Methods40 rabbits were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal control group, model group 1, model group 2, early electro-acupuncture group and later electro-acupuncture group with 8 animals in each group. Muscle adhesion model was established by operation. The early electro-acupuncture group was received the treatment from the 11th to 20th day after the operation; later electro-acupuncture group was from the 21st to 30th day after the operation. The weight, gait and range of motion (ROM) of animals were observed and analyzed.ResultsThe standing, walking and ROM of animals of the early electro-acupuncture group improved; but only few gait indexes improved and ROM not changed in the later electro-acupuncture group.ConclusionThe early electro-acupuncture treatment can prevent the post-operative adhesion of muscles, but not having effect on formed adhesion.

Wide- angle viewing system as an important auxiliary device can clearly observe the whole fundus field of vision in vitreous surgery, which enable vitreoretinal surgery more efficient, safer and more effective. So it has very high application value in ophthalmologic operation. In this paper, we studied the development and application of wide - angle viewing system in vitreoretinal surgery in recent years, from which we summed up the advantage of non - contact wide - angle viewing system in clinical field, and pointed out the shortcomings. The ultimate goal is to make the non -contact wide - angle viewing system better applied in vitreous surgery.

Objective To establish the murine animal model for acute graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Methods T cell-depleted (TCD) BM cells from allogeneic C57BL/6 mice were harvested and prepared from the marrow of the femurs and tibias. Age of 4 to 6 weeks’ BALB/c mice received 900 cGy total body irradiation ( TBI) from a 137Cs source. Two to four hours later,the mice were injected intravenously ( i. v. ) 5 × 106 TCD-BM cells with 1. 25 × 106 or 2. 5 × 106 or 5 × 106 splenic cells from allogeneic C57BL/6 mice,and respectively divided them into experimental group 1,experimental group 2 and experimental group 3. TCD-BM only was used as the negative control group of GVHD. Ten mice were used for each group. The establishment of aGVHD model was evaluated with a clinical GVHD scoring system,survival rate and target-organ damage. Results On 7 to 14 days after transplanta-tion,the typical clinical GVHD manifestation of severe diarrhea,hogback,activity reduced and ruffling were observed in experimental group 2. Furthermore,the aGVHD target organs of colon,lung and liver were harvested and made histological paraffin sections,then the obviously path-ological tissue damages of GVHD were detected under microscope. And the survival rate was lowed down to 0 on 45 days after transplantation in experimental group 2. On the contrary,no obviously clinical manifestation of aGVHD were observed in the control group,experimental group 1 and group 3. On 60 days later, the survival rate was 80% in experimental group 1 and 100% in control group. However,no mice was sur-vived on 10 days later in group 3. Conclusion BALB/c mice aGVHD model after allogeneic HSCT is successfully established by injecting i. v. 5 × 106 TCD-BM cells with 2. 5 × 106 splenic cells from allogeneic C57BL/6 mice.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the exon 4 gene polymorphism of TIM-1 and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Han population from Hubei province.Methods Polymerase chain reaction was used to detect the ins/del polymorphism of the exon 4 of TIM-1 from RA population and the normal con- trols.Rheumatoid factor (RF),anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide (CCP) antibody and anti-keratin antibody (AKA) were also detected.Results Two alleles,a wild type del and a variant allele ins were identified in the TIM-1 exon 4.The genotype frequencies of del/del,ins/del and ins/ins were 0.650,0.280 and 0.070 respec- tively in the normal controls and 0.616,0.302,0.082 respectively in RA population.There was a significant correlation between the positive ratio of AKA and the genotypes of the exon 4.Conclusion The polymorphism of the exon 4 of TIM-1 is not associated with rheumatoid arthritis in Han population from Hubei Province of China.The genotypes of the exon 4 may have an effect on the expression of AKA.

Objective patients with pSS and 30 cases of healthv contrels.The streptavidin immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect the expression and distribution of MMP-9 and CD147 in labial salivary glands.Quantitative analysis was performed by image analysis software-image plus 5.0 at the site of positive expression of MMP-9 and CD147.The correlation between their expression and the infiltrating lymphocyte foci per 4 mm2 of labial gland was analyzed by SPSS software as well as the correlation between the expression of MMP-9 and CD 147 in the salivary glands of patients with pSS.Results MMP-9 was hiKhly expressed in labial salivary glands from 52 patients with pSS and 30 healthy controls,but the expression of MMP-9 in pSS was stronger compared with that of healthy controls(P<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between lymphocyte foci score and up-regulated expression of MMP-9 in labial salivary glands from 52 patients with pSS(P<0.01).CD147 was highly expressed in labial salivary glands from 52 patients with pSS and 23 healthy controls，but over-expression of CD147 in PSS was more Drominent compared with that of controls(P<0.01).There was a significant positive correlation between lymphocyte foci score and up-regulated expression of CD147 in labial salivary glands from 52 patients with pSS(P<0.01).The expression of MMP-9 and CDl47 was detected in ductal and acinar epithelial cells,lymphocyte foci in pSS.There was linear correlation between the expression of MMP-9 and CDl47 in the salivary glands of patients with pSS(P<0.01).Conclusion The results of this study suggest that the abnormal expression of MMP-9 and CD 147 is involved in the pathogenesis of pSS and play a crucial role.The interaction of MMP-9 and CD147 may be one of theimportant mechanisms leading to labial salivary glands destruction found in pSS.

Objective To understand the support effect of the resources and services provided by the library on the scientific research of medical postgraduates. Methods Taking 150 graduate stu-dents in Chongqing Medical University as the research object, through questionnaire survey and inter-view method, the characteristics of medical graduate students' selection of document resources, as well as their application of the resources and services provided by the library were investigated. Results 65% (98/150) of students chose Chinese literature as the preferred source of information, 6% (9/150) of graduate students did not borrow books at the library, 54% (81/150) of graduate students chose library website as the data retrieval entrance at the time of obtaining the preferred document, 9% (14/150) of students did not participate in the library reader training. Conclusion Library resources are still the first choice for the graduate students to obtain the literature, and the library should be improved in the aspects of resource allocation, service mode, in order to meet the needs of graduate students' scientific research.

AIM: To investigate the potential role of 14-3-3 tau in trophoblast cells on invasiveness. METHODS: 14-3-3 tau expression was detected in first-trimester villi, deciduas and human trophoblastic cell line (BeWo) by immunohistochemistry. Small interference RNA (siRNA) targeting 14-3-3 tau was transfected into BeWo cells. The effects of down-regulated 14-3-3 tau on invasion of human trophoblasts cell line BeWo were examined by matrigel invasion assay, and the transcription, translation of E-cadherin and snail were estimated by RT-PCR or Western blotting. U0126 was used to detect the extracellular-signal related kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) function on down-regulation of 14-3-3 tau induced cell invasion. RESULTS: 14-3-3 tau was detected in the invasive trophoblastic cells in the first trimester villi and that invaded to the deciduas. BeWo cells also expressed 14-3-3 tau. Down-regulation of 14-3-3 tau increased the invasive cell-number of BeWo, as well as the expression of snail, and inhibited E-cadherin. U0126 inhibited the enhanced invasiveness in these cells induced by the down-regulation of 14-3-3 tau. CONCLUSION: 14-3-3 tau may regulate the invasiveness of human trophoblastic cells through ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

Objective To evaluate the effect of peer educatio n program by the application of the peer education on human immunodeficiency vir us/aeguired immune deficiency syndrome(HIV/AIDS) prevention and the analysis of the change on knowledge, attitude and behavior about HIV/AIDS among technical sc hool students in Shanghai. Methods Three technical schools in Shanghai were selected randomly. Two classes of each school were selected randomly as education group and the students added up to 284.Two hundred and sixty-one students of another 2 classes in each school were selected as the interior control group. Some freshmen came from medical un iversity were carefully trained as peer educators to conduct the education inclu ding 6 models. The same questionnaires were carried before and after the educati on in both groups. Results After peer education the score of average knowledge abo ut reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, STD was significantly higher than before (P 0.05). Conclusions The conduction of the peer education on HIV/AIDS pr evention among technical school students is effective in promoting the knowledge level,but the change of attitude and behavior is a long term. So we highly adv ocate that not only the health education for HIV/AIDS especially safe sex shall be given and strengthened among technical school students in order to promote t he notion of self-protection but also the conception of care others especially t he HIV/AIDS. OBJECTIVE:To eualuate the situation and the tondency of antihyperlipidemics used in Guangdong Province.METHODS:The sales volume,DDDs and daily expense of antihyperlipidemics in Guangdong Province from2000to2003were investigated and analyzed.RESULTS:The sales volumes of cardiovascular agents from2000to2003had been increasing.The proportion of antihyperlipidemics to cardiovascular agents in respect of sales volume assumed a decreasing tendency from2001.Simvastatin dominated over all other drugs in respect of sales volume and DDDs.CONCLUSION:HMG-CoA reductase in-hibitor and natural drugs dominate in the antihyperlipidemics market of Guangdong Province.
