Objective To explore the applied values of ultra-pulse CO2 laser in blepharoplasty by shortening procedure time, improving the surgical satisfactory result and alleviating the operative and postoperative hemorrhage. Methods 238 patients with bulging, redundant skin in the upper and lower eye lids, including brow lift (26 cases), double eye lid surgery (48 cases), and lower lash line incision (159 cases). Laser incision was implemented with the ultra-pulse CO2 laser system. Results Bleeding was scant in 238 cases and hence local swelling subsided quickly with excellent healing. No eetropion, he-matoma and diplopia ever occurred. 3 months to 3 years follow-up showed satisfactory for all the patients. The result was quite satisfied in clinical observation and postoperative follow-up. Conclusion Utilizing the ultra-pulse CO2 laser in blepharoplasty has confirmed the satifisfatory surgical results, decreasing the surgical time, and reducing the intraoperative and postoperative bleeding.

Objective Our purpose is to investigate the expression of natriuretic peptide receptor A (NPR-A) in the retina and to understand the NPR-A’ s functions during the mouse development .Methods Mice eyes were harvested from E16 ( embryonic day 16 ) to P90 ( postnatal day 90 ) . Total of 127 eyes were used in the study . Immunohistochemistries of NPR-A were carried out .Results During development , NPR-A was widely expressed in the retinal neurons .In the outer nuclear layer , NPR-A began to appear in the inner and outer projections of cone and rod cells at P7, but decreased at P14.From P30 afterward, it continued to express weakly .In the inner nuclear layer , NPR-A expressed in the dendrites of bipolar cells weakly from P 7 to adulthood , whereas no expression in horizontal cells .In the ganglion cell layer, NPR-A started highly to express in the ganglion cell bodies at E 16, and in the meantime, in the nerve fiber layer , ganglion cell axons , NPR-A was expressed highly from embryonic to adult .In the inner and outer plexiform layers, NPR-A was highly expressed at P14, but decreased gradually after P30.In addition, NPR-A also widely expressed in the inner protrusions of Müller cells. Conclusion NPR-A participates in the development of the retina , and may be the key molecule in the developing retinal neurons .Moreover, it plays an important regulatory role in the functional activity of Müller cells .

Objective To investigate the neural proliferation , differentiation and apoptosis of the developing spinal cord of the mouse and to discuss the mechanism of spinal cord ’ s development .Methods 5-Bromodeoxyuridine ( BrdU) assay was used to mark the proliferative neural stem cells , and the immunofluorescent stainings ( DCX, NeuN and Caspase8) were carried out to visualize the newborn neurons , mature cells and apoptotic cells in the spinal cord with 173 mice arrange from E18 to P90.Results BrdU positive neural stem cells appeared evenly in the spinal cord at early days . With age increasing , the neural stem cells differentiated into neuroglial cells and neurons .The newborn neurons in the subventricular zone migrated toward the intermediate zone ( putative gray matter ) and differentiated into mature neurons gradually .With neurons ’ concentrating towards the center , the gray matter formed an “H” shape .In the meantime , with neural differentiation , some apoptotic neurons appeared among the newborn neurons and mature neurons . Double immunostaining showed that most apoptotic neurons were newborn neurons , suggesting the neuroapoptosis more likely occurred in newborn neurons .The statistical data showed that the number of DCX , NeuN and Caspase-8 positive cells reduced with age increasing , suggesting neural differentiation and neuroapoptosis decreased during spinal cord ’ s development .Conclusion Neural proliferation , neural differentiation and neuroapoptosis occur in developing spinal cord . They work together to regulate the formation and development of the spinal cord .

Objective:To investigate the effects of maternal malnutrition on the expression of the insulin signal transduction proteins in the liver of perinatal rats.Methods:(1)The dams were semi-starvation from the first day during pregnancy to build the animal model of intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).On days 15,17,19,21(E15,E17,E19,E21)of gestation, the fetuses were delivered by cesarean section. The fetal rats, placenta, fetal liver and the fetal brain were weighed respectively. And the placenta weight to the body weight ratio(PWR),the liver weight to the body weight ratio(LWR),the brain weight to the body weight ratio(BWR)were calculated; The expressions of the hepatic insulin receptor(IR),insulin receptor substrate-1(IRS-1),insulin receptor subtrate-2(IRS-2),phosphatidyl inositol 3-kinse(PI3K)mRNA in the rats during perinatal period were detected by RT-PCR.Results:(1)The PWR of the IUGR fetus on E15 was lower than that in the control(P0.05).Conclusion:(1)In order to protect the development of brain, the fetus that suffered maternal malnutrition throughout the pregnancy had liver weight and body weight reduced much more than brain weight, which was known as "brain spare effects".(2)The expressions of hepatic IR mRNA and PI3K mRNA of the fetus were in normal ranges; But the expressions of the hepatic IRS-1 mRNA and IRS-2 mRNA of the IUGR fetus were decreased during the perinatal period. These may be related to the growth retardation and insulin resistance of the adult IUGR rats.

AIM: To study the neuroprotective effect and possible mechanism of ganglioside GM 1 on neonatal hypoxic-ischemic-encephalopathy(HIE). METHODS: A rat model of neonatal HIE was established, then the pathological changes and expressions of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in the brain tissues were investigated in different periods after hypoxia-ischemia (HI) and the subseqent changes of the above results after GM 1 administrated. RESULTS: The damage of the brain exposed to HI were alleviated significantly after GM 1 administrated. The levels of NOS expressions in the brain tissue increased after HI. GM 1 could inhibit NOS expressions induced by HI. CONCLUSION: GM 1 may have some protective effects on neonatal HIE, and the possible mechanism is related to the partial inhibition of NOS expression.

Objective To assess the relationship between auditory evoked potential (AAI) index and plasma concentration of propofol administered by target-controlled infusion (TCI) in Chinese. Methods Ten ASA Ⅰ~Ⅱ tumor patients (5 males,5 females) scheduled for elective abdominal surgery under general anesthesia was enrolled in this study.Age ranged from 34 to 61 years, body weight from 52 to 79 kg and height from 155 to 178 cm.Radial artery was cannulated for blood sampling. The patients were premeditated with intravenous injection Midazolam 0.06 mg/L.Anesthesia was induced by fentanyl 2μg/kg,vecuronium 0.1 mg/kg and TCI of propofol which the target plasm concentration was set at 3 mg/L.After intubation, the target plasma concentration of propofol was adjusted at 1.7~2.5 mg/L.Vecuronium was continuous infusions at 2~3mg/h.Anesthesia was maintained with fentanyl-TCI of propofol-vecuronium and inhalation of 0.5 MAC isoflurane. The TCI system was composed of Base Primea company orchestra infusion pump using, the schnider pharmacokinetics model.ECG,Bp,HR,PETCO2,SpO2 and TETISO were monitored during anesthesia.Danmeter company A-line depth of anesthesia monitor recorded AAI index.Blood samples were taken at induction of anesthesia (To baseline),1,3,5,10,15,30,60 min (T1-7) and after cessation of infusion 10 and 20 min (T9-10).Plasma propofol concentration were determinated by fluorescence photometry. Results Compared with target concentrations, the measured concentrations of propofol were significantly lower during TCI(P<0.05).There was negative correlation between AAI and plasma propofol concentrations(r=-0.818,P<0.01).Conclusion On base of the Schnider pharmacokinetics model, the target propofol concentrations are not paralleled to plasma propofol concentrations which is descending with time prolongation. From negative correlation between AAI index and plasma propofol concentrations,AAI index will reflect indirectly plasma propofol concentrations.
