1.FHIT gene and tumor
Journal of International Oncology 2013;40(8):563-566
The human fragile histidine triad (FHIT) gene is a tumor suppressor gene, which is located at chromosome region 3p14.2.The fragile site FRA3B of the FHIT gene is the most unstable site.FHIT can promote apoptosis, and inhibit cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.High methylation status, loss of the various sections of the FHIT gene, changes of the fragile site FRA3B and abnormalities of FHIT transcripts can result in gene afunction, and then promote the development and progression of various types of cancers.Transfecting wild-type FHIT into tumor cells with low or lacking endogenous FHIT expression can induce apoptosis. The combined treatment with other genes may provide a new insight for the treatment of tumors.

AIM: To explore the effects of mindfulness- based stress reduction ( MBSR ) on anxiety, compliance and visual function in primary open angle glaucoma( POAG) patients. ·METHODS:Totally 64 patients, who were treated with topical medication and were diagnosed with POAG in the department of ophthalmology at Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, were randomly divided into the intervention group ( n=32 ) and the control group ( n=32 ) . Both groups received conventional mental health education while the intervention group was complemented with MBSR intervention. The patient's anxiety status, compliance rates and MD before and after the intervention were evaluated. ·RESULTS:After the MBSR intervention, the scores of HAMA of the intervention group were significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0. 01). The compliance of patients in intervention group was higher than that of the control group (P<0. 01). ·CONCLUSION:The MBSR intervention can effectively relieve the anxiety of patients and improve the compliance in primary open angle glaucoma patients. It can be promoted and put into clinical application.

METHODS: Fifteen patients with ocular injuries including the corneal and scleral rupture associated hyphema, vitreous hernia in anterior chamber, traumatic lens rupture, lens subluxation, applied 23G minimally invasive vitreous cutting system in the first stage of anterior segment reconstruction.
RESULTS: The anterior ocular media of early postoperative became transparent quickly. No exudative lemma and no complications were found relate to puncture incisions after operations.
CONCLUSION:23G minimally invasive vitreous cutting system can be used in the first stage of anterior segment reconstruction on sever ocular injury. It can reduce iatrogenic injury, operative complications and inflammatory response, also can shorten therapeutic time and create favorable conditions.

P53 gene (exon7~8) mutatins and p53 proteins and HPV 6,11,16,18-DNA were examined in 49 cervical carcinoma by immunohistochemistry, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and single strand conformation polymorphism (SSCP) in order to investigate their role and mutual relation and clinical significance in the onco genesis of cervical carcinoma. The results showed that first, p53 proteins posit ive rate was 48.98%, and not outstandingly related to the differentiation and the invasive degree of cervical carcinoma(P>0.05); the defects of P53 gene (exon7~8) were not found but P53 (exon7~8) mutations were detected in 7 of 49(14.29%) cervical carcinoma; then, HPV16-DNA positive rate was much higher than HPV6,11,18-DNA positive rate respectively(P<0.001),and the different HPV-DNA was simultaneously tested in one cerv ical carcinoma; last, not all cases of P53 mutations had p53 proteins posi tive, but the cases of P53 mutations and p53 proteins negative certainly had HPV infections, and HPV positive cases were much more than its negative one in the cases of p53 proteins positive(P<0.001). These results proved that the oncogenesis of cervical carcinoma is mainly associated with HPV16 infections, and second related to P53 (exon7~8) mutations. p53 proteins positive results from P53 mutations or/and HPV infections in cervical carc inoma.

Objective To investigate environmental risk factors associated with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A retrospective study was carried out from Feb 2005 to Apr 2006.A total of 108 cases with PCOS and 108 patients without PCOS(control group)were interviewed using a designed questionnaire. Results Univariate analysis of environmental factors indicated that risk factors related to PCOS were:occupation, education, disposable plastic cup for drinking, cooking oil fume and indoor decoration, all of which were significantly related to PCOS(P

Objective To assess the clinical value and safety of VenaTech LP permanent inferior vena cava filter (IVCF) for preventing pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Methods One hundred and seven DVT patients receiving VenaTech LP permanent IVCF implantation from October 2005 to November 2009 were selected. In hospital and following up data were analyzed. Results All the filters were successfully implanted. No symptomatic PE took place during acute stage of thrombosis after filter implantation. No complication took place during following up 1 to 36 months. Conclusion Implantation of VenaTech LP permanent IVCF is safe and effective in the prevention of PE.

Objective To explore the clinical.significance of serum anti-lysosomal associated membrane protein-2 (LAMP-2) antibody in the pathogenesis of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AASV) by investigating the relationship of its levels and AASV.Methods Sera from twenty patients with AASV and twenty healthy controls were collected.Serum anti-LAMP-2 antibody was detected using commercial enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) kits.Anti-LAMP-2 antibody levels between the two groups were assessed using the t test, the correlation between anti-LAMP-2 antibody levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),C-reactive protein (CRP) was assessed by Spearman's rank correlation test, the correlation between anti-LAMP-2 antibody levels and the Birmingham vasculitis activity score(BVAS),hemoglobin (Hb),albumin (Alb) was assessed by Pearson's rank correlation test. Results ① The serum level of anti-LAMP-2 antibody in patients with AASV [(3714±1446) pg/ml] was higher than that in the healthy controls [(174±43) pg/ml] (t=10.94,P<0.05).The serum level of Hb [(99±30) g/L] and Alb [(27±5) g/L]in patients with AASV was lower than that in healthy controls [(138±14) g/L,(44±3) g/L] (t=5.27,t=13.04,P>0.05).② The level of anti-LAMP-2 antibody in AASV was positively correlated with BVAS (r=0.669 9,P<0.05),and was not found elevated compared with ESR,CRP,Hb and Alb (P>0.05).Conclusion ① AntiLAMP-2 antibody is involved in the pathogenesis of AASV.② Anti-LAMP-2 antibody is correlated with the activity of AASV,it may be an indicator of AASV disease activity.

Objective To compare the whole-body equivalent doses from volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and static intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) for patients with cervical cancer. Methods Nine patients with cervical cancer admitted to our hospital in 2014 were included in this study. Both VMAT and IMRT were planned for each patient. Each patient's personal dose equivalent (Hp (10)) was measured using thermoluminescent dosimeters placed at the xiphoid process and glabella during IMRT and VMAT.The whole-body equivalent doses were estimated based on the results measured at the xiphoid process and compared between the VMAT and IMRT techniques. The paired t test was used for difference analysis. Results The Hp (10) values measured at the xiphoid process and glabella of every patient were lower for VMAT than for IMRT.At a prescribed dose of 50 Gy,if the mean Hp (10) values measured at the xiphoid process were considered to represent the whole-body equivalent doses, the whole-body equivalent doses for VMAT and IMRT were 364 mSv and 538 mSv,respectively. Conclusions VMAT results in a lower whole-body equivalent dose to patients compared with IMRT.The decreased whole-body equivalent dose delivered by VMAT may reduce the likelihood of a radiation-induced secondary malignancy.
