Objective To investigate the effect of Xiongshang RecipeⅠ(XPI)on serum inflammatory cytokines of tumor necrosis factor (TNF)and interleukin-8(IL-8)in acute pulmonary contusion patients. Methods Thirty acute pulmonary contusion patients were equally randomized into the control group (receiving routine western medical treatment)and the treatment group (received routine western medical treatment and oral use of XPI).The treatment lasted 2 weeks.Thirty healthy physical examinees served as the contemporaneous normal controls.Secondary pulmonary contusion, recovery time and the serum levels of TNF and IL-8 were observed after pulmonary contusion. Results Serum levels of TNF and IL-8 in the treatment group after treatment were decreased(P

Herald of Medicine 2001;(2):93-94
Objective:To discuss about the reasonable use of antibiotics for infection of the CNS.Method:The classification and selection as well as the combinative use of antibiotics were reviewed individually. The role of blood-brain barrier, the use of drugs through myelin and their indications were also discussed. Results:Infections of the CNS have been controlled effectively through the use of antibiotic. Conclusion:Rationally using antibiotics in the treatment of infections of the CNS can relieve the economic burden of the patients.

Objective To evaluate the reference change values (RCV),individual indexes of TSH,T4,T3,FT3,and FT4 and the limitations of population-based reference ranges.Furthermore,to determine the quality standards based on the biological varia-tion.Methods Acorrding to intra-and inter-individual biological variations, and analytical variations ,RCV and individual indexes of TSH,T4,T3,free T3,and free T4 were calculated, and analytical variations of quality standards based on biological variation were induced. Results RCV of TSH,T4,T3,FT3,and FT4 is 54.0%,16.8%,26.8%,42.8%,23.8%,respectively.Individ-uality index is 0.78,0.45,0.49,0.47,0.45,respectively,and satisfied analytical variation based on biological variation is less than 9.6%,2.5%,4.4%,2.9%,4.0%,respectively.Conclusion When monitoring thyroid functions, the RCV values should be considered. It is important to recognize population-based reference ranges limitations for use in individuals.Quality standards based on biological variation should be meeted when laboratory analysis of variance is determined.

Objective To explore the relationship between the loss of the heterozygosity of nm23-H_1 and the lymph node metastasis in no-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods The loss of the heterozygosity of nm23-H_1 gene of cancer tissue and peri-cancerous tissue was detected in 39 patients with NSCLC by Southern blotting. Results The heterozygosity gene of nm23-H_1 is 7.6 kb and 2.3 kb. The LOH rate of the patients with lymph node metastasis (48%, 12/25) was higher than those without lymph node involvement (8%, 1/11) (P

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the long-term toxicity of Ginkgolide B injection on Beagle dogs, and to provide safety evidences for clinical experiment.METHODS: A total of 24 Beagle dogs were equally assigned to receive placebo(control group,n=6) or Ginkgolide B injection at high, medium, and low doses(80,20,and 5 mg?kg-1) by iv gtt for 6 consecutive days per week for up to 90 days. There were 6 Beagle dogs(male: female =1∶1) in each group. All the laboratory indicators were monitored and the recovery of the Beagle dogs was observed.RESULTS: During medication, vomiting was noted in one dog in high dose group, and the clotting time in high and medium dose groups was prolonged obviously.During the recovery stage, one dog in high dose group was strong positive in urinary protein test.No significant drug-associated toxic reactions were noted judging from Beagle dogs' body weight, appetite, temperature,ECG,hematology, blood biochemical analysis, ophthalmology test, marrow test, urine routine test, histopathologic examination etc.CONCLUSION: The non-toxic dose of Ginkgolide B injection for Beagle dogs was 20 mg?kg-1.
