1.Relationship between meso-hippocampal dopaminergic projections and hippocampal P300-like potentials in rats
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(10):-
AIM: To evaluate the role of the meso-hippocampal dopaminergic systems in the generation of hippocampal P300-like potentials. METHODS: Changes of ventral hippocampal P300-like potentials were examined after lesions of the meso-hippocampal dopaminergic systems. The extracellular DA and DOPAC were collected by the push-pull method in the ventral and dorsal hippocampus and their contents were measured by high-performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection(HPLC-EC). RESULTS: The contents of DA and DOPAC in the ventral hippocampus were higher than those in the dorsal hippocampus in the normal animals. The peak latencies of P300-like potentials were prolonged and the contents of DA and DOPAC decreased in the ventral hippocampi after lesions of the meso-hippocampal dopaminergic systems. CONCLUSIONS: There exist meso-hippocampal dopaminergic systems in rats; The meso-hippocampal dopaminergic terminals is mainly located in the ventral hippocampal area in rats; The meso-hippocampal dopaminergic projections take part in the generation of the hippocampal P300-like potentials in rats.

Objective To determine whether leflunomide could control the proinflammatory cytokine expression induced by anthralin via inhibiting the activation of nuclear factor ?B (NF-?B). Methods The expression of NF-?B inhibitory protein ? (I?B?), was analyzed by using Western blot method. MTT assay and RT-PCR were used to assess the proliferating activity and mRNA expression of intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) of HaCaT keratinocytes, respectively. Results Leflunomide inhibited the degradation of I?B? by anthralin, i.e. the activation of NF-?B signaling pathway, in a dose-dependent manner. The inhibition of keratinocyte growth by anthralin did not correlate with the activation of NF-?B. Under the experimental conditions used, leflunomide was shown to be able to significantly inhibit the over-expression of ICAM-1 on keratinocytes induced by anthralin; this inhibition occurred in a dose dependent manner. Conclusions Growth inhibition by topical anti-psoriatic medication anhtralin is unrelated to the NF-?B-dependent signaling pathway, and leflunomide can control ICAM-1 expression induced by anthralin via inhibiting the activation of NF-?B.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effectiveness of treating adrenal gland neoplasms by CT-guided absolute alcohol injection. Methods Eleven patients with adrenal gland neoplasms were examined by CT to identify the lesion′s size, location, and the relationship with its surrounding tissue. The needling direction was first chosen, and the syringe needle was placed at the center of tumor or the destined position. Absolute ethyl alcohol was injected after rescanning to confirm the position of syringe needle was inerrant. The blood sugar and blood pressure were checked before operation. After operation, analysis of the clinical manifestations was performed and the blood sugar and blood pressure were measured at once, 24 h, 48 h, one week, one month, and two months, respectively. To observe the absorption of the lesions, postoperative follow-up CT scans were performed at one month and later on. Results Significant differences in blood pressures and blood sugar were observed between preoperation and 24 hours after the operation (P

Objective To explore the therapeutic effects of radical mastectomy(RM) and extended radical mastectomy(ERM) for stage II, III breast cancer. Methods The 5 year and 10 year survival rates in 691 patients with stage II, III breast cancer treated either by extended radical mastectomy or radical mastectomy were retrospectively analyzed . Out of the 691 patients, 206 stage II cases and 193 stage III cases underwent RM, and 142 stage II and 150 stage III cases received ERM. Results In patients with stage II, III breast cancer located in the central portion or medial portion of mammary, the 5 year survival rates and in stage III patients 10 year survival rate after ERM were significantly higher than those after RM (P

[Objective]To evaluate the factors causing loosening of instrumentation and the progressive deformities after treating thoracolumbar bemivertebra with segmental instrumentation, and analyze the outcomes and strategies of reversion.[Method]A retrospective study was made in 7 cases with loosening of instrumentation and the progressive deformities secondary to operation on thoracolumbar hemivertebra in our hospital. There were 3 males and 4 females, with age range of 1.8~13 years.Preoperative mean Cobb's angles of scoliosis was 34.1?,and kyphosis was 40.2?.All cases were treated with posterior reversion.[Result]The failure factors of primary surgery were resulted from:failure of single hemivertebra resection(4 cases),shortage of segments fixation and bone graft(5 cases),unsatisfactory selection of instrumentation(2 cases),failure of manipulation in young children(2 cases),segment fixation without fusion(1 case).Postoperative mean Cobb's angle of scoliosis was 12.6?,with correction rate of 63.0%,and kyphosis was 17.3?,with correction rate of 56.9%.The revision cases were followed up for 18 to 28 months and showed that all patients got satisfactory cosmetic correction and fine fusion. No neurological complication or infection occurred,no implant failure were verified at the final radiographic evaluation.[Conclusion]The reasons for postoperative loosening of instrumentation and the progressive deformities includs:free from hemivertebrectomy, inappropriate segments fixation and bone graft, unsatisfactory selection of instrumentation, impropermanipulation in young children, fixation without fusion. If the above-mentioned five reasons of reversion strategies have been considered and avoided, the clinical results will be satisfactory.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1992;0(05):-
Objective To investigate the efficacy of lamivudine( LAM) combined with thymosin ?1 (T?1) on young patients with chronic hepatitis B. Methods Sixty six chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients aged from 12 to 16 years and weight greater than 33 kg were divided into the LAM + T?1 group and the LAM group; in LAM + T?1 group,T?1 was administered 1.6 mg hypodermic once daily and after 5 days it was changed to 1 6 mg hypodermic, twice in two weeks, and the drug was stopped after 26 weeks, while LAM had been administered 100 mg each time once daily for 52 weeks. In LAM group, only LAM had been administered 100 mg once daily for 52 weeks. The serum level of HBV DNA, HBV markers and the ALT were measured before and after treatment Results After the treatment, the rate of serum HBV UNA turned to negative in LAM + T?1 group was 100 % , and that in LAM group was 93.7 % ; recovery ratios at 52 weeks of LAM+ T?1 group was 87.1% ,and that of LAM group was 78. 1% .After 52 weeks, the HBeAg serum conversion rate of LAM + T?1 group was 58. 1 % , and that of the LAM group was 21.9%. Comparing the results of the two groups, the difference was remarkable. Conclusion The efficacy of T?1 combined with LAM on young patients with chronic hepatitis B is superior to that use of single LAM
