Objective To investigate the relationship between vascular endothelial function and insulin resistance(IR) and the incidence of metabolic syndrome(MS).Methods A seven-year follow-up study was conducted in 583 simple obese subjects who were chosen in 2000.Body fat,blood pressure,lipid profile,plasma glucose,insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) and endothelium- dependent dilatation(EDD) were measured before and after the follow-up.Results A total of 177 new cases with MS were found during this seven years,which was 33.78% of all subjects who were followed up in 2007.Cumulative incidence of MS among seven-year was 38.14% in the impaired EDD group and 48.11% in the impaired EDD with IR group,both rates were higher than that of the IR group(25.00%)(P

Objective To explore the application of Artglass material in aesthetical restoration. Methods A total of 2196 restoratio ns, including 1963 veneers and 233 crowns, were made for 335 patients, and clini cal results were examined and recorded one by one. The related problems were dis cussed. Results There was significant improvement on cosmetics in most of the 2196 restorations; 44 restorations in 21 patients were failed, re sulting in a failure rate of 2%. The failure cases were repaired with Chrisma ma terial or remade with Artglass material. Conclusion Artglass ma terial has satisfactory prosthesis effects in aesthetical restoration. The bondi ng process and occlusion adjustment are important and should be specially notice d.

Objective To discuss the diagnosis and treatment of superior sagittal sinus thrombosis.Methods The early diagnosis and treatment of superior sagittal sinus thrombosis was induced and summarizd,7 cases in our hospital treated from 2005.6 to 2008.9.were analyzed.Results In this investigation,3 cases were puerperal women,and the other 4 had no special medical history.Brain edema of difference degree was found in all cases on CT scans,including sulcus (7 cases),compression of cistern(5 cases) or even disappeared of cistern(2 cases).CT scanning also revealed dense triangle in 2 cases,multiple small encephalomalacia focus of frontal lobe lesions in 3 cases,and sub-arachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) in 2 cases.The digital subtraction angio-grapby(DSA) also was underwent,of 2 superior sagittal sinus not seen,of 4 appear unevenness,of 7 Arterio-venous circulation delayed and of 5 collateral circulation vasodilatation.After treatment,the clinical symptoms and signs of all patients were improved.All of them could be self-supporting.Followed up for 3 years,the mortality was 0,and no one cerebral hemorrhage again.Conclusion The early diagnosis and treatment of superior sagittal sinus thrombosis could reduce the morbidity and mortality, also could improve prognosis.Especially for the one without cerebral hemorrhage,using heparin at the beginning was an effective and safe way.

AIM: To study the causes of pyogenic granuloma after hydroxyapatite(HA) orbital implants.METHODS: HA orbital implants (250 cases) in our hospital (68 pegged implants) were reviewed.All patients were followed up from 18 months to 10 years. Implants were removed after medical therapy which was proved to be ineffective.RESULTS: Ten of 250 cases of HA orbital implants developed pyogenic granuloma. Pyogenic granuloma occurred in 1 unpegged implants patient and 9 patients after pegging and drilling of HA implantation over 4～7 years. The pyogenic granulomas were not controlled by medical therapy effectively. Implants were removed in 9 cases except 1 case denied removing and continued medical therapy.CONCLUSION: Pyogenic granuloma was serious complication that occurred after HA orbital implants. Partial vascularization, implant exposure, xenogenic sclera implant, pegging and drilling of HA implantation are risk factors that affect the development of pyogenic granuloma.Pyogenic granuloma hasn't relation with implanted peg material. Pyogenic granuloma denotes the potential implant infection, and all implants should be removed finally.

Objective To observe the effects of intermittent hypoxic preconditioning on the expression of apoptosis-related Bcl-2 and Bax protein after 70％ hepatectomy combined with ischemia-reperfusion injury.Methods A total of fifty-four SD rats were randomly divided into three groups (n =18).Partial hepatectomy hroup (PH Group):Rats underwent the left and middle lobectomy of liver(70％ hepatectomy).Ischemia reperfusion group (IR group):The left and middle lobes of liver were resected during the occlusion of the hepatoduodenal ligament for 20 minutes.Residual liver underwent the process of ischemia-reperfusion.Intermittent hypoxia preconditioning group (IHP group):rats were exposed to hypoxic environment of 10％ oxygen for 1 h/d.After 7 consecutive days,the left and middle lobes of liver were resected under the portal triad clamping.At 12,24 and 48 hours after the operation,the rats were killed and detected.The serum levels of ALT and AST were determined by automatic biochemical analyzer.The expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein in liver tissue were measured by immunohistochemistry.Results At each time point after surgery,the serum levels of ALT and AST in IR group and IHP group were higher than that of PH group,and IHP group were lower than in IR group.Compared with IR group,the expression of Bcl2 protein significantly increased and Bax protein expression significantly decreased in IHP group.All these differences were statistically significant (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Intermittent hypoxic preconditioning might protect residual liver against ischemia reperfusion injury,through increasing the expression of Bcl-2 protein and reducing the expression of Bcl-2 protein to decrease liver cell apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the effects of intermittent hypoxic preconditioning on residual liver regeneration after parital hepatectomy in rats.Methods Fifty-four Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (each group contained eighteen animals):sham operation group (SO group),parital hepatectomy group (PH group)and intermittent hypoxic preconditioning group (IHP group).The rats in PH group underwent the left and middle lobectomy of liver(70％ hepatectomy).The rats in IHP group were exposed to hypoxic environment of 10％ oxygen for 1 h/d.And after a week,the rats underwent parital hepatectomy.Six rats in each group were sacrificed respectively on postoperative day 1,3 and 5 (POD 1,3 and 5).The resected liver and the regenerated liver were weighed to calculate liver regeneration degree and regeneration index.The values of alaninea minotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) in the inferior vena venous blood were examined by automatic biochemical analyzer.The positive ratio of hepatocellular proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) in the residual liver was investigated immunohistochemically.Results The degree and index of liver regeneration in IHP group were respectively higher than those in PH group on POD 1 and 3(P ＜0.05),but there were no statistical differences between the two groups on POD 5.The levels of ALT and AST in PH and IHP group began to decline after surgery,but they remined higher than those in SO group.Moreover,the ALT and AST levels in IHP group were significantly lower than those in PH group on POD 1 (P ＜0.05).The positive ratios of hepatocellular PCNA were respectively higher than those in SO and PH group on POD 1,3 and 5 (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions To some extent,preoperative intermittent hypoxic preconditioning could prevent hepatocellular damage after parital hepatectomy,what is more,it also could promote the remnant liver regeneration.But the mechanism still needs to be studied furter.

Objective To observe the effects of intermittent hypoxic preconditioning on the expression of apoptosis-related EPO after 70％ hepatectomy combined with ischemia-reperfusion injury.Methods One hundred and twenty healthy SD rats of clean grade,simple random divided into 3 groups:Sham operation group of 40 rats ; Pure major hepatic resection group was 40 (Major hepatectomy,MH),namely in the hepatic portal blocking liver resection of the left and middle lobes,hepatic portal blocking 20 min ; intermittent hypoxia preconditioning group 40 (Intermittent hypoxia preconditioning,IHP group).Results MH group,S group,IHP group,EPO level in three experimental groups in postoperative residual liver tissue in rats with significant difference (P ＜ 0.05),Intermittent hypoxia preconditioning group of residual liver EPO content was significantly higher than that of simple hepatic resection group 40.Conclusion Intermittent hypoxia preconditioning can promote the expression of residual liver after hepatectomy in EPO.

Objective To understand the relationship between childhood non-intentional injury and socio-economic status (SES) in Jiangxi province. Methods Nearly 100 000 households were selected by PPS sampling method, in Jiangxi province. All children aged 0-17 years in selected households were surveyed using an 'injury questionnaire'. SES was calculated under the World Bank method. Results 98 335 children were surveyed and the identified number of non- intentional injury cases was 5429 and with 52 fatal cases. The morbidity was 5.52% and mortality was 52.88/100 000. The mortality of children with higher SES was lower than that of other groups but without statistical significance. The morbidity of moderate injury increased with the increasing SES, also without statistical significance. However, the morbidity of severe injury in male children decreased with the increasing SES. Rates of moderate injury morbidities of fall and road traffic injury also increased with the increasing SES. Moderate injury morbidity caused by animals decreased with the increasing SES. Severe injury morbidity of fall decreased with the increasing SES. Conclusion The morbidity of injury in children was affected by the SES and the relationship between injury and SES varied along with the results of different types of injuries.
