OBJECTIVE:To explore the preventive effect of biomembrane on tendon adhesion. METHODS:A total of 40 Chinese articles about randomized controlled animal experiments and clinical applications which were focus on the preventive effect of biomembrane on tendon adhesion published from 1990 to 2008 were collected. And then, those articles were summed up based on experimental animals, grouping, materials, methods, results, and conclusions. Furthermore, clinical subjects received biomembrane were generally analyzed, and following up and functional evaluation were performed to overall summarize the clinical application of biomembrane for preventing tendon adhesion. RESULTS:Six out of nine articles suggested that cock was the major experimental animals, and the biomembrane could effectively prevent tendon adhesion due to good histocompatibility and permeability, and no effect on normal healing of tendon;therefore,it was an ideal material. Eight out of twelve articles suggested that there were no significant differences in biomembrane between age, sex, and injured region. Evaluation criterion in the domain of total range of active movement and active range of each joint demonstrated that biomembrane could successfully prevent tendon adhesion. CONCLUSION:Biomembrane is an excellent anti-adhesive materials with good histocompatibility and permeability.

BACKGROUND: Prevention of implant from inflammation was an effective method to reduce expulsion rate of stainless steel micro-screw implant, and develop new type of antibiotic material.OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the cytotoxicity of a new type of antibiotic stainless steels.METHODS: Metal test samples (antibiotic stainless steel, medical stainless steel, and medial pure titanium) were made into rectangular solids with length of 15 mm × 10 mm × 3 mm. Samples were cleaned with high temperature and high pressure. Alloy leaching liquor was prepared with DMEM culture media according to the ratio betwean surface area and volume of culture solution (3 cm~2/mL). The leaching liquor was maintained in incubator at 37 ℃ for 96 hours, and then degerming was performed using microporous membrane. 6.4% phenol was added, which was considered as the positive control group, and DMEM culture media was considered as the blank control group. Growth of MG63 cells was observed under inverted phase contrast microscope;absorbanca of cells cultured for 24, 48, 72, 96, and 120 hours was detected using MTT test; cytotoxicity of antibiotic stainless steels was evaluated.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: ① At 24 hours after culture, calls in the positive control group was abnormal; while, cells in other groups were well adherent-grew. ② After 48 hours of culture, with the culture time increased, cytotoxicity was detected out in the positive control group; cells in other groups and blank control groups were normal and grew well. Afew of cells in stainless steels group showed karyopyknosis. ③ The absorbance was the highest of medical pure titanium, and then of antibiotic stainless steel and of medical stainless steel, while there was no significant difference between the three materials. ④ The level of cytotoxicity was grade 0. The results suggested that the antibiotic stainless steel which had the same cytotoxicity grade as medical stainless steel and pure titanium was in line with the requirement of its clinical application.

Chinese Journal of Virology 2014;30(3):298-302
Human bocavirus (HBoV) 1-4 have been detected both in respiratory and stool samples since the first HBoV was discovered in 2005. HBoV-1 is mostly associated with respiratory infection, while HBoV 2-4 are usually associated with intestinal tract infection. A variety of signs and symptoms have been described in patients with HBoV infection, including cough, wheezing, pneumonia, and diarrhea, but the research on pathogenic mechanism of HBoV is limited because HBoV cannot be cultured in vitro due to the lack of appropriate host cells. Three-dimensional epithelial cell culture, reverse genetics, and viral metagenomics are identified as novel tools that may promote the research on pathogenic mechanism of HBoV and the discovery of new viruses. This review summaries currently available diagnostic approaches such as electron microscopy, cell culture, PCR, and immunoassay in order to provide a method reference for indepth research on HBoV.

To study the regulation of androgen receptor (AR) expression in human prostate cancer LNCaP cells by triptolide (TP) and the possible mechanism, by using qRT-PCR and Western blot, the AR mRNA and protein levels in TP treated LNCaP cells were detected, and the AR protein level in TP and NF-κB inhibitor treated LNCaP cells was also detected; a series of pGL3-AR promoter reporter gene vectors were built using restriction-free cloning method, and the vectors were employed to investigate the effects of TP on the transcriptional activity of AR promoter in LNCaP cells; the upstream proteins which may play regulatory roles were detected using western blot assay. After treated LNCaP cells with TP for 48 h, AR mRNA and protein expressions decreased with increasing TP concentration. The expression of AR target gene PART1 and prostate specific antigen (PSA) was also downregulated by TP treatment; a series of pGL3-AR promoter reporter vectors were constructed and validated by sequencing and luciferase activity; the results of dual luciferase reporter assay showed that TP downregulated AR at the transcriptional level; PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway which is associated with AR promoter activity was drowregulated by TP. In conclusion, our results demonstrated that the transcriptional activity of AR in LNCAP cells was downregulated by TP, and PI3K/AKT/NF-κB pathway may be involved in the regulation mechanism.
