Objective To investigate the effects of hydrogen peroxide on function and morphology of guinea pig cochlea in vivo. Methods Animals were divided into four groups and their cochleas were perfused with artificial perilymph(AP), 50 ?M H 2O 2, 100 ?M H 2O 2 and 200 ?M H 2O 2 resolved in AP separately. The compound action potential(AP) and cochlear microphonic(CM) were recorded after two-hours' perfusion. Then hydrogen peroxide-induced cell damage in the inner ear was investigated with morphologic method. Results In all H 2O 2 groups, CAP threshold shifts and CM amplitude shifts were significantly greater than that of APL group. The effect of H 2O 2 perfusion on cochlear function showed dose-dependence. OHCs were major targets of H 2O 2-induced cell death, while Hensen's cells did not show any signs of damage in the presence of H 2O 2. Conclusion Hydrogen peroxide, as an ubiquitous reactive oxygen species(ROS), can induce cochlea dysfunction and damage of cells in guinea pig inner ear. Hensen's cells maybe more resistant to the damage of ROS than hair cells.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of Cheneau orthosis with different pressure areas on the patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. Methods Thirty patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis who had apex vertebraes below T6 were included, and randomly divided into group A in which patients wore orthosis spanning across 3 vertebra, and group B in which patients wore orthosis spanning across 5-6 vertebra. All patients were assessed with regard to Cobb degree, apex vertebrae rotary degree and pain index after wearing the orthosis. Results The rectified ratio of Cobb degree were 17% and 29% in groups A and B, respectively. There was a statistical difference between the 2 groups(P<0.05). No statistical difference was found between the 2 groups in terms of apex vertebrae rotary degrees(P>0.05). Pain index was 5.00 in group A, and 2.07 in group B, which was statistically different (P<0.05). Conclusions Increasing pressure points' areas of Cheneau orthosis properly can improve more effectively the lateral curvature angle of the patients with adolescent idiopathic seoliosis.

To study the mechanisms of total flavonoid from Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (TFGR) and its ingredient isoliquiritigenin (ISL) on their regulation of M2 phenotype polarization of macrophages. IL-4 (60 μg x L(-1)) induced RAW264.7 cells for 6 h to establish the M2 macrophage model. TFGR and ISL restrained breast cancer cells migration with the aid of M2 macrophages in vitro. TFGR and ISL inhibited gene and protein expression of Arg-1, up-regulated gene of HO-1 and protein expression of iNOS, enhanced the expression of microRNA 155 and its target gene SHIP1, meanwhile down-regulated.the phosphorylation of STAT3 and STAT6. So TFGR and ISL were the bioactive fraction and ingredient in Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma to reverse M2 phenotype macrophages polarization. TFGR and ISL inhibited the promotion of M2 macrophages to breast cancer cells migration in vitro, STAT signal pathways and miR155 were partly involved.

Objective To explore the carry rate and antimicrobial resistance of Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus) among primary school students. Methods Nasal swab samples were collected from healthy primary school students in Guangzhou.Antibiotic susceptibility testing was applied to test S.aureus strains. Results The overall carriage rate of S.aureus,methicillin-resistant S.aureus (MRSA) and multi-drug-resistant S.aureus (MDRSA) among 1 012 primary school students were 40.1%,1.2% and 4.0%,respectively.Most S.aureus isolates were resistant to penicillin, erythromycin and clindamycin. The dominant multidrug resistance patterns of MDRSA isolates were resistant to erythromycin-clindamycin-tetracycline and erythromycin-clindamycin-cefoxitin.Multifactor dimensionality reduction analysis showed that the rate of resistance to cefoxitin, tetracycline and chloromycetin among MDRSA was 104.39 times as much as that of nonMDRSA.Conclusions The carriage rate of S.aureus in healthy primary school students from Guangzhou was high and these isolates showed multidrug resistance. These data provide basis for guiding the rational use of antibiotics.

Objective To explore the efficiency of continuous glucose monitoring system(CGMS) and blood glucose self-monitoring (SMBG)in evaluating blood glucose excursion in type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) complicated with pregnancy. Methods Twenty-five patients having suffered from T1DM complicated with pregnancy were selected randomly during June 2012 to July 2015. All subjects underwent blood glucose monitoring by CGMS and SMBG for 72 h, including the data of blood glucose before meal, 2 h post-meal blood glucose (2hBG) and blood glucose at 2:00 AM. Results The level of the highest blood glucose in CGMS was significantly higher than that in SMBG:(10.60 ± 2.11) mmol/L vs. (7.50 ± 1.18) mmol/L, P<0.01. The level of the lowest blood glucose in CGMS was significantly lower than that in SMBG:(3.60 ± 1.06) mmol/L vs. (4.50 ± 1.15) mmol/L, P<0.01. The level of mean blood glucose in CGMS and SMBG had no significant difference:(7.20 ± 1.18) mmol/L vs. (7.30 ± 1.15) mmol/L, P>0.05. The rate of hypoglycemia(blood glucose<3.3 mmol/L) in CGMS was 4.6%, and in SMBG was 1.9%. Through adjusting the treatment by CGMS, the blood glucose before meal, 2hBG and blood glucose at 2:00 AM at 49-72 h were significantly lower than that at 0-24 h (P<0.05). Conclusions Compared with SMBG, CGMS has a relatively larger blood glucose monitoring range and can sensitively evaluate blood glucose excursion, CGMS provides a scientific basis to develop a more rational and effective strategies for controlling diabetes.

A low-temperature hydrocarbon-degrading strain T7-2, isolated from sea-mud of Bohai polluted area and identified as Rhodococcus erythropolis, was found to produce an extracellular, nondialyzable emul- sifying agent (referred to as bioemulsifier) when grew with hexadecane as carbon source. The results showed that, this bioemulsifier which could remarkably emulsify hydrocarbons such as diesel oil, is consisted of three parts-carbohydrates, lipids and proteins, the proportion of which was 55.43:31.24:12.65. The mono- saccharide compositions were identified as mannose and rhamnose; the lipid compositions included de- canoic acid, lauric acid, hexadecanoic acid and stearic acid, and the protein constituents were composed of sixteen amino acids. Besides, according to the study of the physic-chemical properties of the bioemulsifier, it possesses the obvious advantages of character stability, high function efficiency and wide adaptation range, therefore this bioemulsifier is believed to have extensive application values for bioremediation of marine oil pollution, petroleum exploitation and etc.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
Nowadays,oil-pollution of seawater in the world has severely threatened the security of sea entironment.Bioremediation offers one available option for an oil spill response. The aspects as follows are introduced some evolvement of microbial ecology, including new method of survey of microbial diversity without cultivation, new isolated method and the properties of main hydrocarbon degradated strain. But we have little or no understanding of the vast majority of marine bacteria that remain uncultured, and more efforts should be made to improve current methods for isolating oil-degrading or oil-emulsifying bacteria, not only for assessing the fate and effects of the spilled oil,but also for isolating novel bacteria that would be useful for the petroleum industry.
