Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1983;0(05):-
Objective To study the clinical features of primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) in order to improve the clinical diagnosis. Methods Clinical data of fifty patients with PBC were retrospectively studied. The clinical features, results of laboratory tests, pathological findings of all the fifty patients were analyzed. Results forty-four patients were female (88%), and the mean age was 44.94?12.33 years at the time when definite diagnosis was made. The most frequent symptoms complained were fatigue (34/50, 68%), anorexia (24/50, 48%) and pruritus (13/50, 26%).The major signs included jaundice (32/50, 64%), splenomegaly (24/50, 48%) and liver palms (14/50, 28%). Serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and r glutamyl transpeptidase (r-GT) levels were markedly elevated in most patients, and the levels of ALP and GGT declined during the advanced stage. The levels of ALT and AST were elevated slightly. The total level of serum bilirubin was elevated in thirty-two patients (64%). Positive anti-mitochondrial antibody (AMA)/AMA-M2 were found in forty-one patients (82.0%). Pathological examination was done in 32 patients, it was shown that 28 patients (87.5%) were in early stage and 4 patients (12.5%) in advanced stage. Conclusion PBC occurs mainly in middle- and old aged women. The main clinical manifestations are fatigue, anorexia and pruritus. The elevated level of ALP, r-GT and positive AMA/AMA-M2 may be crucial to diagnosis of PBC.

Objective To establish the quality control method for Antenoron filiforme. Methods Antenoron filiforme was identified by TLC,and the content of gallic acid was determined by HPLC. The chromatographic conditions were as follows:Aichrom Reliasil C18 column (4. 6 mm×250 mm,5 μm) was used with mobile phase consisted of acetonitrle-0. 1% phosphoric acid(4∶96),the flow rate was 1. 0 mL·min-1 ,and the detection wavelength was 270 nm. Results TLC identification for An-tenoron filiforme was highly specific. Gallic acid content had a good linearity in the range of 0. 08-0. 56μg (r=1. 000 0). The av-erage recovery was 101. 12% and RSD was 2. 20% (n=6). Conclusion The method is simple, feasible, and reproducible, and can be used for the quality control of Antenoron filiforme.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
N-carbamoylase is a part of hydantoinase operon which can transform N-carbamoylamino acid to corresponding ammo acids. The L-N-carbamoylase of Arthrobacter BT801, codied by the HyuC gene, is the rate-limiting and the only stereoselective enzyme. HyuC DNA fragment was amplified by PCR from the plasmid of pUC18-169. The target fragment was introduced into pPIC3. 5K plasmid to construct the pPIC3. 5K-hyuC expressing vector which was then transduced into Pichia pastoris GS115 cells after being linearized by BglⅡ digestion. Multi-copies insertion transformants were screened on G418 plates. The recombinant protein was proved to have biological activity of hydrolyzing N-carbamoylphenylalanine into phenylalanine through enzyme activity determination.

Objective To investigate the correlation between liver-type fatty acid binding protein (L-FABP) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) extent and other clinical parameters. Methods Ninety-six patients of NAFLD (NAFLD group) and 100 cases of healthy controls (control group) were selected. The levels of serum L-FABP and blood biochemical parameters were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The lesion degree was assessed by ultrasound. The body mass index (BMI),waist to hip ratio (WHR) and homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) were calculated. Results The WHR,BMI,fasting plasma glucose (FBG),triglycerides (TG),alanine aminotransferase (ALT),HOMA-IR and L-FABP in NAFLD group were higher than those in control group, there were statistical differences (P < 0.05).The result of correlation analysis showed L-FABP level was positively related with ALT,TG,FBG,WHR,BMI,HOMA-IR (r =0.735,0.728,0.681,0.713,0.699,0.673 ;P <0.05),and negative correlation with HDL-C (r =-0.607,P < 0.05).The L-FABP level in control group was (15.42 ± 2.51) g/L,mild NAFLD was (15.96 ± 2.92) g/L,moderate NAFLD was (17.48 ± 3.91) g/L,serious NAFLD was (25.14 ± 5.37) g/L.There was statistical difference in L-FABP level between serious NAFLD and control group, mild NAFLD,moderate NAFLD (P < 0.05).Conclusion Serum L-FABP level of serious NAFLD patient significantly increases, and L-FABP level is related with biochemical parameters of liver function.

7% (OR=4.640,95%CI=1.064 to 20.239,P=0.041) were the high risk factors for myocardial ischemia in patients with type 2 diabetes. Conclusion Poor control of the 4 factors is the high risk factor for myocardial ischemia in patients with type 2 diabetes.Overall and effective control of such risk factors can decrease the incidence of myocardial ischemia and improve its treatment.

Objective To assess the radiofrequency ablation (RFA) lesions in canine prostate with real-time harmonic gray-scale contrast-enhanced ultrasonography and investigate the feasibility to predict these lesions. Methods A total of 5 male beagle dogs took RFA of the prostate.Radiofrequency (RF) was delivered under transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) guidance.A lesion was created in the right and left lateral lobes of canine prostate, respectively. The examination of conventional gray-scale ultrasonography, power Doppler ultrasonography,real-time harmonic gray-scale contrast-enhanced ultrasonography were performed immediately after RF procedure. All animals were subsequently sacrificed and the prostates were harvested for pathologic analysis.Thermal lesion volume was calculated based on expected shape of ellipsoid using equation. The volumes of the calculated thermal lesion on contrast-enhanced ultrasonography in dogs were compared with the volumes obtained from the pathological specimens. Results The RFA lesions could not be imaged accurately with real-time conventional gray-scale or power Doppler ultrasonography.However,contrast-enhanced low MI perfusion imaging was able to have real-time monitoring for the lesion (no blood flow). The volume of lesions was measured with contrast-enhanced ultrasonography without significant difference with those of pathologic results.Ultrasonic imaging(conventional gray-scale or power Doppler sonography)of the ablation areas also had its own characteristics. Conclusion The real-time harmonic gray-scale contrast-enhanced ultrasonography appears to be an accurate modality for assessment of RFA lesions.Conventional gray-scale and power Doppler sonography had their own characteristics to evaluate the RFA lesion.

Objective To analyze the endoscopic and pathologic characters of acute graft versus host disease(aGVHD) after aUogeneie bone marrow transplantation. Methods The endoscopic and pathologic findings of 4 patients with acute aGVHD were retrospectively analyzed. Results The clinical manifestations of 4 patients were abdominal pain and diarrhea occurred 21~57 days after bone marrow transplantation. The eolonoseopy detected mucosa edema, erosion and multiple ulcers. The pathological findings included epithelial necrosis accompanied with infiltration of lympbocytes and plasmacytes,no cytomegalovirus was found in biopsies, and aGVHD was diagnosed.Three patients recovered after the treatment with corticosteroids, while the other one died. Conclusion The intestine is involved in aGVHD after allogeneie bone marrow transplantation, and the diagnosis depends on eolonoscopy and biopsy.
