Chinese Journal of Nervous and Mental Diseases 2016;42(11):658-663
Objective To compare and analyze differences in clinical characteristics, auxiliary examination and im?munotherapy between children with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA) receptor encephalitis and adults. Methods Clinical data was retrospectively collected from 34 cases anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis. All people were divided into the child group and the adult according to the age of onset and the inpatient department. Score of Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) before and after treatment and follow-up period (6 months~24 months) were compared to estimate the neurologi?cal outcomes. Results Data from 34 patients including 19 children and 15 adults was analyzed. Hypoventilation, epilep?sy and status epilepticus were more common in the adult group than in the child. The positive rate of EEG delta brush was higher in child group than in adult group. Two women were complicated by suspicious ovarian teratoma. Intravenous immune globulin was used commonly in the child group, while the plasma exchange or immunosuppressant used common?ly in the adult group. Time of onset to hospital admission and final diagnosis were shorter in the child group than in the adult. Patients requiring ICU were fewer in the child group than in the adult. The scores of mRS were significantly lower in the child group than in the adult at hospital discharge (P<0.05). Conclusion Clinical characteristics is more compli?cated in adults with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis compared with children including a worse disease severity and a poorer short-term outcome.

BACKGROUND: The low survival rate of neuron cells is one of the main mechanisms of stem cell allograft, which might lead to the failure of allograft. Nuclear factor-KB (NF-kB) is one of main transcription factors for cell signaling transduction and participates in call proliferation and differentiation.OBJECTIVE: To study the differentiation of muscle-derived stem cells (MDSCs) into neuron-like cells induced by ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection in vitro, and the expression of NF- kB.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The experiment at cell molecular level was performed at the Oral Science Laboratory of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical College from March to May 2008.MATERIALS: A total of 10 Sprague Dawley neonatal rats aged 7 days were supplied by Experimental Animal Center, Liaoning Medical University. CNTF (Sigma, USA) and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection (Chiatai Qingchunbao Pharmacantical Co.,Ltd., China) were used in this study.METHODS: Rat MDSCs were harvested in vitro, pudfied by differential adherence and enzyme digestion, and incubated in 6-well plate. Samples in the induction group were incubated in DMEM containing CNTF for 24 hours. The medium was changed.Subsequently, samples were dnsed three times, and then incubated in serum-free DMEM supplemented with Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection for 5 hours. Samples in the control group were treated with serum-free DMEM.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neurofilament protein and NF-KB inhibitor protein expression were detected using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Westem blotting.RESULTS: No neurofilament protein expression was found in MDSCs before induction, and neurofilament protein-positive MDSCs were detected following induction. Results of gel electrophoresis and Westam blot showed that no significant differences in NF-kB inhibitor protein expression were determined in the control group, and NF-kB inhibitor protein expression was significantly decreased in the induction group after induction.CONCLUSION: CNTF and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection could inhibit the activation of NF-kB and induce the differentiation of MDSCs into neuron-like cells.Zeng XY, Wang W, Sun L, Zhang L, Zeng LD.Differentiation of muscle-derived stem cells into neuron-like cells induced by ciliary neurotrophic factor and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection in vitro.Zhongguo Zuzhi Gongcheng Yanjiu yu Linchuang Kangfu.2009;13(27): 5336-5340. Objective To investigate the stability of 1% lauromacrogol foam sclerosant prepared with different liquid-to-air ratio in order to find out the optimal liquid-to-air ratio. Methods According to Tessari technique, two 10 ml disposable plastic syringes and one three-way plastic stopcock were used to mix 1%lauromacrogol with room air, and liquid-to-air ratios from 1∶1 to 1∶9 were separately employed to make the preparation of the foam sclerosant. Each kind of liquid-to-air ratio was used to separately make bubbles for 5 times, the foam half-life time (FHT), the foam drainage time (FDT) and the foam coalescence time (FCT) were recorded, and their mean values were calculated. The optimal liquid-to-air ratio was defined as the intermediate values of all the above measured indexes. Results When the liquid-to-air ratio was 1 ∶ 1, 1 ∶2, 1 ∶ 3, 1 ∶ 4, 1 ∶ 5, 1 ∶ 6, 1 ∶ 7, 1 ∶ 8 and 1 ∶ 9, the FHT of 1% lauromacrogol foam sclerosant was 184.8, 169.3, 135.9, 110.8, 111.5, 92.6, 76.3, 74.7 and 49.9 seconds respectively; the FDT was 10.6, 17.8, 14.6, 13.7, 13.0, 12.3, 10.7, 11.5 and 12.6 seconds respectively; while the FCT was 108.4, 79.8, 41.8, 20.3, 10.4, 0, 0, 0 and 0 seconds respectively. Conclusion Based on Tessari technique, the indoor air, two 10 ml disposable plastic syringes and one three-way plastic stopcock are used to prepare 1%lauromacrogol foam sclerosant, and the optimal liquid-to-air ratio is 1 ∶ 2.

Chinese Journal of Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology 2001;7(1):17-18
Objective In order to explore the effect of 13-cis isotretinoin on androgen receptor in acneic patients and provide the theoretical basis for acne treatment. Methods Radiological binding assay (RBA) was used to study the specific AR binding capacities between the experimental group and the control group before and after taking medicine. The serum testosterone level was measured with radioimmunoassay. Results 16 weeks after taking medicine, the AR level in the acne patients decreased significantly compared with that before taking 13-cis RA (P<0.05),but the affinity change was not found, the testosterone levels did not evidently change either. Conclusion The 13-cis RA can decrease the levels of AR and depress the hyperplasia of sebaceoous glands.
