To investigate the effect of prostaglandin E_1 (PGE_1) on the liver function following laparotomy, 55 adult patients with normal liver function, undergoing elective laparotomy for gastric cancer under total intravenous anesthesia ,were randomly allocated to receiving intravenous infusion of PGE_1 at rate of 20 to 60ng?kg~(-1). min~(-1)(group PGE_(1,n)=27), or normal saline (group control, n=28 )from the opening of abdomen to the end of operation,respectively. The serum concentrations of glutamin-pyruvic transaminase (GPT)and glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT)were measured postoperatively. BACKGROUND: With the increase of senile population, it needs to further improve their mental health when improving their physical health. To study the depressive status of retired elderly people in order to provide basis for effective community nursing intervention.OBJECTIVE: To investigate and analyze the depression incidence among retired elderly people and conducted correlative factors analysis in order to improve the nursing service to aged people's mental health.DESIGN: Cross-sectional sampling study towards retired senior people.SETTING: Nursing department of a medical college.PARTICIPANTS: This study was completed in Nursing Department of North China Coal Medical College during September to December 2002. It conducted questionnaire survey to 1 000 retired people in Tangshan city by family visit. There were 574 male and 426 female who aged from 60 to 88years old with mean age of 67 years.METHODS: To adopt geriatric depression scale and general condition questionnaire investigation to individuals.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Depression scale score, depression incidence and frequency of correlative factors RESULTS: Mild depression accounts for 17.2% while moderate and severe depression account for 5% among retired elderly people. There is close relationship between factors such as retired veterans, female, low education,lack of social support, empty life, lack of exercise and poor self-assessed health and depression incidence(x2 = 9.80 - 175.93, P ＜ 0. 05).CONCLUSION: The incidence of senile depression among retired elderly people is pretty high so that it is important to pay attention to mental care towards retried people when doing community nursing, especially to divorced, widowed, female and low educated retired people.

Objective To study blood type B antigen elimination with α-galactosidase in human liver tissue,and discuss the feasibility of blood type conversion in human liver.Methods The liver specimens from patients with blood type B in liver transplantation were collected,and an in vitro liver perfusion model was established.The in vitro livers were perfused with UW solution +/-α-galactosidase.The effect of enzyme in B antigen of human liver were analyzed by immunofluorescence.Results With UW solution containing α-galactosidase to perfuse the in vitro livers,immunohistochemistry showed the level of blood type B antigen in liver was significantly reduced after hypothermic perfusion and preservation.The B antigen level in 1 h perfusion was reduced to approximate 58％ of this figure prior to perfusion,in 2 h was 10％,and in 4 h was 4％.Among the different intervals,the blood group antigen levels showed significant differences (P ＜ 0.05).In the control group,the blood group antigen levels showed no obvious change on statistical analysis.Conclusions α-galactosidase was effective to clear blood type B antigen in isolated liver tissue.In the experimental group,Although the B antigen did not fall to a undetectable level,liver blood type conversion from B→O remains a promising potential which has been meaningful for related researches on blood type conversion of human organs.

A new instrument for hematocrit measurement is introduced in the paper, which can get the same accurate Hct values while its centrifuging speed is reduced. It integrates high speed centrifuge, automatic data processing and automatic analysis of hematocrit into a system, having more advantages than the traditional measuring devices, such as lower noise, less test errors and better accuracy. Therefore, it can satisfy well clinical applications.

Objective:To explore the correlation between serum level of matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2)and se-verity of coronary artery disease in aged patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS)complicated hyperhomocys-teinemia (HHCY).Methods:According to serum level of homocysteine (Hcy),a total of 105 aged ACS patients were selected and divided into ACS+HHCY group (n=56)and pure ACS patients (n=49),another 65 healthy in-dividuals were enrolled as healthy control group.The severity of coronary artery disease was showed by Gensini score ;enzyme linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure serum MMP-2 level in each group.Results:Com-pared with healthy control group,there were significant rise in MMP-2 level [(140.8±50.1)ng/ml vs.(442.5± 98.2)ng/ml,(297.9±86.3)ng/ml]in ACS+HHCY group and pure ACS group,P <0.01. Gensini score in ACS+HHCY group was significantly higher than that of pure ACS group [(1.9±0.2)scores vs.(1.1±0.3)scores,P<0.01].Pearson correlation analysis indicated that Gensini score was positively correlated with MMP-2 level in ACS+HHCY group (r =0.424,P <0.05).Conclusion:The serum MMP-2 level is significantly positively correla-ted with severity of coronary artery disease in aged patients with ACS complicated HHCY.

AIM:To investigate the effect of ovarian carcinoma cells on ? chain expression and the secretion of Tc1/Tc2 type cytokine in CD8+ T cells,and its role in the ovarian carcinoma induced immunosuppression.METHODS:The supernatants of human ovarian carcinoma cell lines of OVCAR3,CAOV3 and SKOV3 and RPMI-1640 were added into CD8+ T cells(groups I,II,III,and control),which were isolated from the peripheral venous blood of healthy persons.The expression of ? chain was analyzed by Western blotting.Thiazolyl blue(MTT)method was used to detect the effects of those cell line supernatants on the growth of CD8+ T cells.The secretion of the Tc1 type cytokine interferon(IFN)-? mRNA and the Tc2 type cytokine interferon(IL)-10 mRNA were detected by RT-PCR.RESULTS:The expression of ? chain was significantly lower in groups I,II,and III in comparison with that in control group.The absorbance at the wavelength 570 nm of CD8+ T cells culture in the group I,II,and III was all significantly lower than that in the control group.The IFN-? expression was significantly lower in groups I,II,and III in comparison with that in control group,while the expression of IL-10 was significantly higher.CONCLUSION:Ovarian carcinoma may suppress CD8+ T cell proliferation and secretion of the Tc1/Tc2 type cytokine through inhibition of ? chain,which may play an important role in the ovarian carcinoma induced immunosuppression.

Objective To evaluate the efficiency and safety of exercise interventions on cancer related fatigue. Methods Cochrane Library, JBI Database of Systematic Reviews, MEDLINE, EMbase, CINAHL, Chinese Journal Full- text Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, and Wanfang Databse were searched from the inception to November 2014 to screen the systematic review and Meta-analysis conforming to the inclusion criteria. Two authors independently appraised their methodological qualities with Overview Quality Assessment Questionnaire (OQAQ), and analyzed the data using descriptive analysis. The primary outcome included the scaling of cancer related fatigue, the secondary outcome included adherence to exercise intervention and the incidence of adverse events. Results Fourteen systematic review/Meta-analysis were identified, twelve of them had a high methodological quality (Scoring 5-7). Six systematic review/Meta-analysis found that aerobic exercise could effectively alleviate cancer related fatigue, especially for breast cancer patients;seven articles showed that exercise could modulate cancer related fatigue of patients under active treatments;seven articles reported the compliance to the exercise intervention, four articles reported adverse events occurring during the intervention, very few of them resulted directly from the exercise intervention. Conclusions Exercise intervention can modulate cancer related fatigue with good safety.
