Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(09):-
Objective To investigate the potential role of asiaticoside in controlling the capsular formation around breast implant in rats. Methods Forty female Sprague-Dawley rats were implanted with 2 silicone elastomer in bilateral dorsal interscapular region subcutaneously each, and randomly assigned to 2 groups (n=20 in each group): control group and experimental group. The experimental group was of intragastric administration with asiaticoside (24 mg/kg) daily while control group with saline of identical volume. On day 7, 14, 28, 56 and 84, 4 rats from each group were sacrificed. Specimens were collected for HE staining. Image-pro Plus was applied to measure the thickness of capsule at different time intervals and the dynamic alteration in histology was observed. Results In experimental group, the formation of capsule ended up with a thickness of (194.33?23.27)?m, dramatically thinner than that of control group (306.08?31.31)?m (P

International Eye Science 2016;16(11):2121-2123
AIM: To summarize clinical characteristics and pathogenesis of iridocorneal endothelial syndrome ( ICE ) and investigate the treatment and prognosis.
METHODS:The clinical data of 12 cases (12 eyes) who received treatment in southwest hospital during Jun. 2007 to Feb. 2015 were analyzed retrospectively. The essential progressive atrophy of iris included 7 eyes, Chandler syndrome included 3 eyes, Congan - Reese syndrome included 2 eyes.
RESULTS: A total of 8 eyes were carried out once or multiple filtration surgery; 4 eyes were treated with glaucoma valve implantation. Postoperative follow- up time ranged from 15mo to 5y with the average of 30mo. Three months to 16mo after the surgery, the intraocular pressure of 4 patients were elevated again. Postoperative intraocular pressure was poorly controlled.
CONCLUSION:ICE syndrome is a group of clinically rare and serious eye disease. The excessive proliferation of ICE cells causes the existence of the corneal endothelial cells adhesion to the chamber angle and iris surface, which cause iris atrophy, secondary glaucoma, corneal endothelial decompensation. Currently, glaucoma filtration surgery and glaucoma valve implantation can only control intraocular pressure for several months, but the long-term prognosis is poor.

Objective To explore the signal mechanism of proliferation stimulating effect of connec-tive tissue growth factor (CTGF) on hypertrophic scar (HS) derived fibroblasts. Methods <'3>H-TdR in-corporation technique was used to determine the proliferative effect of CTGF at different concentration. Western blot was applied to semi-quantitively analyze the expression of phosphorylated and total ERK1/2 protein after 0, 5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 min of CTGF stimulation, and the relative value of which was de-fined as AI to measure the activation of ERK1/2 signal pathway. PD98059 was admitted to specifically block the ERK1/2 pathway, and subsequently cell proliferation stimulated by CTGF was studied by MTT. Results CTGF could stimulate fibroblasts proliferation with a dose-dependant manner, and activa-ted the ERK1/2 signal pathway, and AI built up to 0.209±0.0201, reaching the apex at 15 min after stimulation performed. Inhibition of ERK1/2 activation by PD98059 suppressed CTGF-mediated HS fi-broblasts proliferation significantly, while OD significantly dropped. Conclusion CTGF induces a prolif-erative response in HS fibroblasts, and this action is mainly dependent on the activation of ERK1/2 signal pathway.

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(03):-
Objective To investigate the effect of nerve growth factor (NGF) on the bone induction of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) through local application of NGF in the osteoinductive process of BMP. Methods Thirty-six ICR mice were divided into the experimental group and control group at random, and rhBMP-2/collagen composite was implanted into the right thigh muscle pouch of each group. NGF or vehicle was daily injected into the implanted sites of BMP, respectively, for 7 days starting from the third day after surgery. At d10, d20 and d30 after implantation, new bone formation was measured radiographically, biochemically and histologically to compare the osteogenetic capacity of the two groups. Results In both groups, new bone formation was found at d10. However, there was significantly more new bone in the experimental group according to histological and radiographic examinations. At d10 and d20, alkaline phosphatase activity of the local tissue in the experimental group was significantly greater than that in the control group, and calcium and phosphonium contents of samples were also greater in the experimental group. Arrangement of collagen fibers became more regular in the experimental group than that in the control group. Conclusion NGF possesses synergistic effect on ectopic bone formation induced by rhBMP-2.
