OBJECTIVEThe changes of pain threshold and expression of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT) and c-Fos in spinal dorsal horn of rats were observed after targetedly damaged the cerebraspinal fluid-contacting nucleus (CSF-contacting nucleus) to provide experimental evidence for the mechanism of regulating pain CSF-contacting nucleus involved in.
METHODSMale adult SD rats were divided into control, sham, choleratoxin subunit B conjugated with horse-radish peroxidase (CB-HRP)and damage groups randomly. The pain threshold using mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL) were recorded and analyzed. Immunofluorescence method was used to observe the expression of 5-HT and c-Fos in spinal dorsal horn.
RESULTSCompared with the control, sham and CB-HRP groups, the MWT and TWL of the damage group were significantly increased (P < 0.05). The results of immunofluorescence showed that 5-HT was detected in neurons of CSF-contacting nucleus. In the damage group, the number of neurons of CSF-contacting nucleus reduced gradually, and no survived neurons were observed at the 10th day. Meanwhile, both the expression of 5-HT and c-Fos in spinal dorsal horn increased gradually, and negatively correlated with the change of pain threshold.
CONCLUSIONThe method of targeted damaging CSF-contacting nucleus by cholera toxin subnit B conjugated with saporin(CB-SAP) is scientific and reliable, and it results in the changes of pain threshold and expression of 5-HT and c-Fos in spinal dorsal horn of rats. This study suggests that CSF-contacting nucleus participate in the regulation of pain, moreover, 5-HT and c-Fos play important roles in this regulation.

Basical study of application of TCM damp - heat model includes development of damp - heat animal model and mechanism study of removing heat and dampness. Results indicated that under the guidance of classical thoery of TCM febrile diseases, on the basis of comparison of five factors and six methods of developing animal model, and the damp - heat models developed by means of combined factors (diet+ climatic surroundings + pathgenic boilogical factors) approached to damp - heat syndrome of TCM in conditions of attack, affected Zang- and Fu-organs, and main symptoms and signs, with characteristics of good replace and simple manipulation.

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2010;19(4):246-249
The chronic lymphocytic leukemia cells are not only tumor cells, but also immune cells. Dysfunction of these tumor cells can induce many kinds of autoimmune diseases, which mainly are hematological complications. The clinical manifestations involve decreased amount of erythrocytes, platelets, or leukocytes. The pathogenesis of such complications is not very clear. Misdiagnoses and missed diagnoses often occur. Generally, the treatment protocols are similar to those of primary autoimmune diseases. The main concerns are how to give considerations to both chronic lymphocytic leukemia and autoimmune diseases simultaneously.

ObjectiveTo explore the accuracy of judging the T-staging of rectal cancer by biplane transrectal ultrasound.MethodsPathological enteroscopic biopsy was carried out for 197 cases of rectal cancer.Cases of middle and lower rectal cancer without serious obstruction were examined by means of transrectal biplane ultrasound through which to observe the changes of the echoes and to detect the depth of the infiltration in the intestinal walls and the presence of invasions in prostate glands, seminal in male or vesicles, uterine cervix in female. On the basis of the findings, the preoperative tumor staging was made.Postoperatively, the ultrasound results were compared with the pathological examination.Their consistency was evaluated by using Kappa test.ResultsTransrectal biplane ultrasound examination showed the total accuracy rate in T-staging of rectal cancer was as high as 83.8% with the diagnostic sensitivity rate for T1to T4 as 77.8 %,73.1%,89.3% and 94.4%,while its diagnostic specificity rate degree was 97.3%,93.1 %,85.1 %,97.8% respectively,The k -value was 0.732 which suggested that the ultrasound staging was highly consistent with the pathological staging(P<0.05).ConclusionsTransrectal biplane ultrasound has a great value in the preoperative T-staging of rectal cancer and is helpful in the planning of treatment.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of abdominal cocoon. Methods The clinical data of 16 patients with abdominal cocoon were analyzed retrospectively . Result All the 16 patients with abdominal cocoon were treated and confirmed by operation. Before operation, 11 patients were misdiagnosed as mechanical intestinal obstruction, 4 as chronic appendicitis, and 1 as abdominal tumor. All patients were operated on and postoperative complications were found in 2 patients. All patients were curred clinically and followed up for 1-10years. 2 patients were died of relapsing intestinal obstruction 1,5 years after operation. 2 occurred relapsing incomplete intestinal obstruction accompaning with malnutrition, 12 patients were good during the follow up period. Conclusions Preoperative diagnosis of abdominal cocoon is difficult. The diagnosis mainly depends on the upper gastrointestinal radiography, B-ultrasonography and CT. Removal of the membrane and releasing the intestine adhesions is an effective method in treating this disease.

Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 1994;0(09):-
Objective To study the bioactive components from stems of Schisandra propinqua var. intermedia. Methods Compounds were separated with acombination of multi-chromatography. Their che- mical structures were determined on the basis of spectral analysis and chemical evidence. Results Nine compounds were isolated from S. propinqua var. intermedia. The structures were elucidated as vanillic acid- 4- O-?-D-allopyranoside (Ⅰ), salidroside (Ⅱ), 2-hydroxy-5-(2-hydroxyethyl)-phenyl-?-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅲ), 3, 4-dimethoxyphenyl-4-?-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅳ), 3, 5-dihydroxybenzoic acid-4-O-?-D-glucopyranoside (Ⅴ), 3, 5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxy-benzoic acid (Ⅵ), 4-methoxy-benzoic acid (Ⅶ), vanillic acid (Ⅷ) and protocatechuic acid (Ⅸ). Conclusion Compound Ⅰ is a new phenolic alloside and others are isolated from S. propinqua var. intermedia for the first time.

BACKGROUND:Increasing studies have found that, percutaneous vertebroplasty and bone cement are characterized by few traumas, few bleeding, simple operation, rapid recovery, rapid pain relief, and effective efficacy. However, tumor recurrence, symptom improvement, bone cement leakage and other complications make people controversial. OBJECTIVE: To explore and summarize clinical outcomes and safety of percutaneous vertebroplasty and bone cement for treating symptomatic vertebral hemangioma. METHODS:Fifty-two cases patients of symptomatic vertebral hemangioma (including 21 male and 31 female, aged 16-63 years) were treated with percutaneous vertebroplasty and bone cement. The lesions were found at T5-T12 in 36 cases and at L1-L3 RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Al 52 patients were folowed up for at least 6 months after the operation. The Visual Analogue Scale and Oswestry Disability Index were significantly increased at 1 day, 3 weeks and 6 months post-surgery, when compared to before surgery (P< 0.05); the modified Macnab evaluation was excelent in 40 cases, good in 7 cases, fair in 3 cases, and poor in 2 cases, and the excelent and good rate was 90%. Only one patient had recurrence at 6 months after surgery and one patient had the leakage of bone cement. No other complications were found. Percutaneous vertebroplasty and bone cement could effectively cure vertebral hemangioma and relieve the pain, which is a safe treatment. in 16 cases. Clinical outcomes such as Visual Analogue Scale, Oswestry Disability Index and modified Macnab criteria, as wel as complication before and after surgery were evaluated.
