Chinese Journal of Information on Traditional Chinese Medicine 2006;0(10):-
Objective To explore the characteristics of TCM syndrome of vertigo. Method Patients of vertigo need to fill a form about the symptoms of TCM, and then analyze the frequence and percentage of the symptoms and the syndromes with SPSS software. Result Except vertigo or dizziness, the common accompanied symptoms were distractedness, feeling thirsty, tinnitus, poor memory, afraid of cold and vomiting, etc. There were 26 syndromes, and the top 5 of which are yin-deficiency of liver and kidney, wind stirring, phlegm blocking, qi-deficiency of spleen and blocking qi of liver. Conclusion The characteristics of syndrome of these patients of vertigo were same as the theory of TCM. The better way to find the characteristics of syndrome of vertigo still need to be explored.
3.DISTRIBUTION OF VGluT1 AND VGluT2 IN THE SPINAL CORD IN DIFFERENT MAMMALIAN SPECIES: RAT, CAT AND MONKEY
Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
Objective To investigate the distribution of the vesicular glutamate transporters (VGluTs), VGIuT1 and VGIuT2, in the spinal cord in multiple species, including rat, cat and monkey. Methods An immunohistochemical technique was used in the present study. Results VGluTs were observed in the gray matter of the spinal cord of rat, cat and monkey. VGluTl-immunoreactivity (VGluT1-IR) was most intense in the inner part of lamina Ⅱ(Ⅱi) and the medial parts of laminae Ⅲ-Ⅵ of the spinal dorsal horn; weak in lamina Ⅰ and outer part of lamina Ⅱ(Ⅱo); moderate in other parts in the rat and cat. The laminar distribution of VGluT1-IR in the spinal cord in the monkey is different from those in the rat and cat. The VGluT1-immunopositive product was intense in laminae Ⅰ, Ⅱi, Ⅲ and the medial parts of laminae Ⅳ-Ⅵ of the spinal dorsal horn; weak to absent in lamina Ⅱo and the lateral parts of laminae Ⅳ-Ⅵ of the dorsal horn. In the spinal anterior horn of monkey, the VGluT1-immunoreactive profiles were observed sparsely just in lamina Ⅸ, not in other laminae. At the same time, some scattered immunoreactive profiles were present in the white matter, particularly at the medial parts of the dorsal column in monkey, but not in rat and cat. On the other hand, VGluT2 immunoreactivity (VGluT2-IR) was moderately present throughout the gray matter, it was most dense in laminae Ⅰ-Ⅱ and Ⅹ, and weak in the medial parts of the deep spinal dorsal horn (laminae Ⅲ-Ⅵ) in the three species. The VGluT2-immunopositive product was very sparse in the lateral parts of the deep spinal dorsal horn of the monkey. In the lateral spinal nuclei of the rat, moderate VGluT2-immunopositive product could be seen, but not in the cat and monkey. In three species, both VGluT1- and VGluT2-IR showed a punctuate distribution. Conclusion The present results indicated that VGluT1 and VGluT2 were expressed in the spinal cord in all species examined but differentially distributed in a species-specific manner, and they might play an important role in the activities of the excitatory neurons in the spinal cord of rat, cat and monkey.
4.Thinking about vertigo effectiveness evaluation methods in clinical research of Chinese medicine.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2014;34(10):1256-1259
Vertigo is a kind of patients' subjective feelings. The severity of vertigo is closely related to many factors. But we are short of a well accepted quantitative evaluation method capable of accurately and comprehensively evaluating vertigo in clinics. Reducing the onset of vertigo, enhancing the re- covery of equilibrium function, and improving the quality of life of vertigo patients should be taken as the focus of evaluating therapeutic effects. As for establishing a Chinese medical effectiveness evaluation system for vertigo, we believe we should distinguish different "diseases". We could roughly identify it as systemic vertigo and non-systemic vertigo. For systemic vertigo, the efficacy of vertigo could be comprehensively evaluated by UCLA vertigo questionnaire or dizziness handicap inventory combined with equilibrium function testing indices. But for non-systemic vertigo, the efficacy of vertigo could be comprehensively evaluated by taking UCLA vertigo questionnaire or dizziness handicap inventory as main efficacy indices. Secondly, we should analyze different reasons for vertigo, choose symptoms and signs in line with vertigo features as well as with Chinese medical theories, and formulate corresponding syndrome effectiveness standards according to different diseases. We should not simply take syndrome diagnosis standards as efficacy evaluation standards.

Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2009;32(23):24-27
Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of the reformed microlumbar discectomy preserving partial ligamentum flavum to prevent lumbar spinal instability and .scar tissue oppression and adhesion after operation. Methods A prospective, randomized, controlled clinical study was conducted. The patients with unilateral lumbar disc herniation were randomly divided into two groups. The control group (41 cases) underwent classic mien)lumbar disceetomy,.and the test group (44 cases) underwent the same procedure but with a curved incision on the lumbo-dorsa fascia and with partial preservation of the ligamentum flavum. Visual analog scale (VAS) scores and Oswestry scale scores were used to appraise the outcomes. Results Chnieal parameters were significantly improved after the operation in two groups. In the test group the postoperative VAS scores showed a less intensity of pain after the operation than that in the control group, and this superiority disappeared 1 year after the operation. After the operation, the VAS scores in the test group and contnd group were (1.8±0.6) and (3.8±1.3) scores at 3 days (P <0.05), (1.3±0.6) and (3.5±2.1) scores at 12 weeks (P<0.05), and (1.9±0.6) and (2.8±1.7) scores at 1 year (P>0.05) respectively. After the operation, the Oswestry scale scores in the test group and control group were (18.2±6.6) and (34.4±11.8) scores at 12 weeks (P <0.05), (12.0±9.2) and (22.6±10.0) scores at 1 year (P<0.05) respectively. In both groups, there was no patient who had recurrence of intervertebral disc hernia and reoperation. Conclusions Minimally invasive discectomy has satisfactory clinical outcomes, however, with partial preserved ligamentum flavum shows a less intensity pain and a better lumbar function state. Preserving the ligamentum flavum is helpful to prevent the fibrosis-related complication and to preserve the stabihty of the spine.

International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2016;24(1):51-57
Objective To investigate the effects of nicergoline on expressions of 5-hydroxytryptamine 1A receptor (5-HT1AR), D2 dopamine receptor (D2DR),α2A adrenaline receptor (α2AAR) in the hippocampal CA1 region and the serum level of apolipoprotein E4 (ApoE4) in a rat model of vascular depression (VD) . Methods Forty-eight male Sprague-Daw ley rats w ere randomly al ocated into a normal control group, a model group, fluoxetine group, a low-dose nicergoline group, a medium-dose nicergoline group, and a nicergoline high-dose group ( n=8 in each group). A rat model of VD w as induced by the ligation of bilateral common carotid arteries combined w ith chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) plus single housing. The rats did not conduct CUMS or single housing in the normal control group, and the rats in the model group conducted CUMS and single housing. The rats in the fluoxetine group w ere given fluoxetine 1.3 mg/(kg· d) for gastric lavage for 3 w eeks at the beginning of CUMS and single housing. The rats in the low -, medium-and high-dose nicergoline groups w ere given nicergoline 0.9, 1.9 and 3.8 mg/(kg· d), respectively for gastric lavage for 3 w eeks at the beginning of CUMS and single housing. The normal control group and the model group w ere given equal volume of distil ed w ater for gastric lavage, once a day for 3 w eeks. Depression-like behavior w as evaluated using sucrose solution consumption and open-field test. Immunohistochemical staining and Western blot were used to detect the expressions of 5-HT1AR, D2DR, andα2AAR in the hippocampal CA1 region. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay w as used to detect serum ApoE4 level. Results Before CUMS, the scores of horizontal and vertical movement and sucrose solution consumption in the model group, the fluoxetine group and each nicergoline group w ere decreased significantly compared w ith the normal control group (al P<0.01);w hile at 21 days after CUMS, those in the fluoxetine group and the nicergoline medium-and high-dose groups w ere significantly higher than those in the model group (al P<0.05). There w ere no significant differences betw een the fluoxetine group and each nicergoline group. The expression levels of 5-HT1A R, D2DR, α2A AR, and the serum ApoE4 in the model group, the fluoxetine group, and each nicergoline group w ere significantly higher than those in the normal control group. Those of the fluoxetine group and the nicergoline medium -and high-dose groups were significantly lower than the model group (al P<0.01), while there were no significant differences betw een the fluoxetine group and each nicergoline group. Conclusions Nicergoline can improve the depression-like behavior in VD rats. Its mechanism may be associated w ith the dow nregulation of 5-HT1AR, D2DR, α2AAR expressions and serum ApoE4 level.

Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging 2013;(11):849-852
Purpose To explore the CT findings of gastric stromal tumor (GST) and primary gastric lymphoma (PGL) for differential diagnosis. Materials and Methods The CT findings of 26 patients with GST confirmed pathologically and 21 patients with PGL confirmed pathologically were retrospectively analyzed with regards to location of lesion, number, range, relation between lesion and gastric wall, density, enhancement pattern, change of gastric mucoma and serous layer, and encroachment of perigastric lymph nodes and other organs. Results CT scans demonstrated that all 26 GST cases had single localized mass with relatively well-defined margin (17 cases located in gastric fundus, 9 cases inside stomach body) and that all 21 PGL cases showed single irregular diffused thickening of gastric wall, and most of which located in 2 or 3 parts with ill-defined margin. On plain CT scan, all lesions of GST appeared slightly hypo-density or iso-density, or heterogeneous density [mean CT value (32±11) Hu];while all lesions of PGL presented homogeneous iso-density [mean CT value (52±9) Hu] with statistical difference (t=12.37, P<0.05). On contrast enhanced scan, GST showed obvious homogeneous or heterogeneous delayed enhancement whereas PGL displayed slightly homogeneous delayed enhancement with statistical difference (t=5.35, P<0.05). Smooth and clear gastric mucosa was found in 26 GST cases without any perigastric lymph node enlargement. Two PGL cases had obscure gastric mucosa and the other 19 PGL cases showed smooth and clear gastric mucosa, 6 PGL cases with lymph node enlargement. Conclusion On CT scan, lesions of GST are limited, with heterogeneous density and obviously heterogeneous enhancement; whilst PGL has diffuse lesions, associated with homogenous density and slightly homogeneous enhancement. The different features are helpful in the diagnosis for both diseases.
