Objective To study the acute inhalation toxicity of 50% Luowei,a plant molluscacide,in rats. Methods Twenty adult Wistar rats, half male and half female, were given of 5000 mg/m3 of 50% Luowei through a dynamic inhalation de?vice and the death and recovery of the rats were observed within 14 days, and LC50 was drawn. Results After exposure, the ac?tivities of the rats decreased and a few individual animals had scratching symptom, but the symptom disappeared after the expo?sure. No animals died during the whole observation period. Therefore, the acute inhalation LC50 was greater than 5000 mg/m3 for rats, and Luowei belonged to low toxicity level. Conclusions 50% Luowei will not cause animal death if it is inhaled into ani?mal body. However, people still need to wear protective equipment in production and use.

BACKGROUND:Posterior lumbar fusion using pedicle screw-rod system fixation is the main surgical method for various lumbar diseases, and the accuracy of pedicle screw insertion is the key to success. Spinous processes are superficial in position, which serve as a anatomical landmark providing significant reference. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the anatomical classification of spinous process tilt of adult in northeast China, and to discussthe feasibility of it as the reference of anatomical landmark in pedicle screw fixation.METHODS: The tilt angle of spinous processes of 97 adults in northeast China was measured, and spinous processes of lumbar vertebrae were then classified. All subjects underwent simulative operation to determine the optimal insertion angle, measure the angle between pedicle screw and the spinous process, or standard sagittal plane for comparative analysis.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) The results were as follows: the distribution of type I was 75.1%, and 20.9% of typeII, 2.3% of type III, 1.7% of type IV. Moreover, there were no significant differences in the angle between pedicle screwand the spinous process, or standard sagittal plane. (3) These findings suggest that lumbar spine angle varies in different individuals, which shouldbe defined through relative examinations. Additionally, spinous process can be a reference inpedicle screw inserting operation.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE:
To measure the expression of CK18 and CK19 in the cells from peripheral blood and tumor tissue of the nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients,to test whether CK 18 and CK 19 could be biomarkers of nasopharyngeal carcinoma fordiagnosis.
METHOD:
The mRNA was extracted from the blood and carcinoma tissue of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and was reversed transcription to cDNA. The 3 pairs primers were designed for RT-PCR and the fold value was calculated to evaluated expression by ΔCT.
RESULT:
There are no statistical differences between the CK18 and CK19 gene expression and the gender, age and metastasis in tumor tissue of 45 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients (P>0. 05). There are significant differences among 3 pathological stages and 2 genes expressed increase as the grade malignancy (P<0. 05). The detecting of the 2 genes expression from blood cells shows that CK18 and CK19 had a high positive ratio 64% and 75% respectively. Meanwhile this method showed a same detection characteristic in tumor and blood, the positive.rate of CK18 and CK19 genes in metastasis is higher than non-metastasis. The results showed CK18 has a high specificity and CK19 has a high sensitivity for prognosis and all relapsed cases are associated with the expression of CK18 and CK19.
CONCLUSION
CK18 and CK19 may be used as biomarkers of nasopharyngeal carcinoma for diagnosis.

In order to observe the effect of the immune and weight of chickens after use the attenuated vaccine with low dose of chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV). In this study, the effects of low dose of CIAV on the weight of SPF chickens and NDV antibody production were observed by simulated experiments. The results showed that 10 EID50 and 5 EID50 CIAV per plume attenuated NDV vaccines were used to cause the weight loss of SPF chickens. Compared with the use of the non contaminated vaccine group, it has significant difference. And NDV antibody levels compared with the use of the non contaminated groups also decreased after use the vaccine with two doses of CIAV contaminated. It has significant difference. A certain proportion of CIAV antibody positive was detected at the beginning of the second week after use the NDV vaccine with two doses of CIAV contaminated. The detection of a high proportion of CIAV nucleic acid was detected in the first week after the use of a contaminated vaccine. The results of the study demonstrate the effects of CIAV pollution on the production and immune function of SPF chickens, and it is suggested that increasing the detection of viral nucleic acid can help save time and improve the detection rate in the detection of exogenous virus contamination by SPF chicken test method.

AlM: To investigate the relationship between the subfoveal choroidal thickness ( SFCT) and both choroidal hemodynamic index and glycosylated hemoglobin in diabetic subjects.METHODS:Seventy-eight type 2 diabetic patients (156 eyes) from ophthalmology and endocrinology ward of our hospital were enrolled in this study, including 39 females and 39 males, with a mean age of (59. 8±6. 2)years. According to early treatment diabetic retinopathy study ( ETDRS) grading method, all samples were divided into diabetic retinopathy ( DR ) group, mild or moderate nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy group, severe nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy ( NPDR) group and proliferative diabetic retinopathy ( PDR ) group. The SFCT and choroidal hemodynamic index were measured by enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography ( EDl-OCT ) and Color Doppler lmaging. Recording glycosylated hemoglobin content of all samples. Using multivariate linear regression to analyse the relationship between the SFCT and both choroidal hemodynamic index and glycosylated hemoglobin.RESULTS: The end diastolic velocity ( EDV ) was significant higher and the SFCT was significant thinner in no diabetic retinopathy ( NDR) group than other groups. There was no significant difference of peak systolic velocity ( PSV ) between four groups. The resistance index ( Rl) was significant higher in severe NPDR group than NDR group and mild or moderate group, the Rl in PDR group was hihgest than other group with statistically significance. The SFCT was correlated positively ( b =0. 540,P<0. 001) with the glycosylated hemoglobin. No significant correlation was found between the SFCT and the choroidal hemodynamic index (DR,P=0. 341;PSV,P=0. 770;EDV,P=0. 131;Rl,P=0. 084).CONCLUSlON: Our results suggest that there is no significant correlations between the SFCT and the choroidal hemodynamic index; glycosylated hemoglobin is one of the factors that affect the SFCT in diabetic patients.

International Eye Science 2015;(4):669-671
AIM: To observe of cataract phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in patients with postoperative tear film, and to explore its clinical significance.
METHODS: A total of 106 patients ( 140 eyes ) undergone phacoemulsification were randomly chosen. Subjective dry foreign body sensation were observed at six nodes of period 1d, 1, 2, 3wk, and 1mo. Corneal fluorescein ( FSC ) , basal tear secretion ( SIT ) and tear film break-up time ( BUT) were used to detect functional changes of the tear film. And the correlation between tear film stability and corneal sensitivity was analyzed.
RESULTS: Dry eye cumulative score of postoperative 1d, 1, 2wk was higher than preoperative ( t= 8. 53, P=0.000;t=6. 27, P=0. 000; t=9. 02, P=0. 000). There was no significant difference in dry eye cumulative score at postoperative 3wk, 1mo compared with preoperative ( t=1.91, P= 0. 824; t= 1. 27, P= 0. 069). Corneal epithelial fluorescein staining points of postoperative 1d, 1, 2wk were increased compared with preoperative (t=11. 64, P=0. 000;t=9. 61, P=0. 000; t=8. 87, P=0. 001). There was no significant difference in corneal epithelial fluorescein staining points of postoperative 3wk and 1mo compared with preoperative (t=2. 52, P=0. 746; t=1. 16, P=0. 094). Corneal sensitivity detection values of postoperative 1d, 1, 2wk were significantly higher than that of preoperative (t=9.61, P=0.000;t=9.27, P=0.000;t=11.39, P=0.024), and there was no difference postoperative 3wk and 1mo compared with preoperative (t=1. 19, P=0. 562;t=2. 17, P=0. 501).
CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation will reduce the tear film stability in the short term, but after a long rest will be improved to a certain extent.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of Modified Hangqi Chifeng Decoction (MHCD) on levels of collagen type IV (Col IV), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) in extracellular matrix (ECM) of glomerular mesangial cells (GMCs) in LPS induced mice.
METHODSNormal serum and telmisartan, high, medium, low dose MHCD containing serums were prepared by using serum pharmacology method. GMCs were cultured in vitro. The proliferation of mesangial cells were induced using LPS as stimulating factor. GMCs were divided into six groups, i.e., the normal group, the model group, the telmisartan group, high, medium and low dose MHCD groups. Col IV content in the supernatant of mesangial cells was detected using ELISA. Protein expressions of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 were detected using Western blot.
RESULTSCompared with the normal group, Col IV content obviously increased in the model group after 72-h LPS stimulation; protein expressions of MMP-2 and TIMP-2 were obviously up-regulated, and MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio was down-regulated in the model group (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, Col IV content obviously decreased in high and medium dose MHCD groups and the telmisartan group (P < 0.01); protein expressions of MMP-2 were obviously down-regulated in medium and low dose MHCD groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05); the protein expression of TIMP-2 was obviously down-regulated in high, medium, low dose MHCD groups and the telmisartan group (P < 0.01). The pro- tein expression of TIMP-2 was obviously lower in the high dose MHCD group than in the low dose MHCD group (P < 0.01). MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio was obviously up-regulated in the telmisartan group, high and medium dose MHCD groups (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONMHCD could regulate disordered MMP-2/TIMP-2 ratio in LPS induced ECM, inhibit excessive production of Col IV in ECM, promote the degradation of ECM, reduce the accumulation of ECM, thereby, delaying the process of glomerular sclerosis.
