AIM:To explore the molecular mechanism of panaxadiol saponin(PDS)by observing Toll like receptor(TLR)2 and TLR9 mRNA expression induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS).METHODS:Rats were divided into LPS,LPS+PDSL,LPS+PDSM and control group,respectively.Nitric oxide synthase(NOS)activity,nitric oxide(NO)content,LPO content,SOD activity and TLR2 and TLR9 mRNA expression were assayed 4 h after intravenous injection of LPS.RESULTS:NOS activity,NO content,LPO content of LPS+PDSL group and LPS+PDSM group were significantly lower than those in LPS group.TLR2 mRNA expression in the liver tissue of LPS+PDSL group and LPS+PDSM group was decreased compared with LPS group.CONCLUSION:PDS has a protective effect on liver tissues by triggering the down-regulation of TLR2 expression,reducing NOS activity,and NO content.

Hippophae rhamnoides is one of the most representative economy crops for its wide uses of biological diversity and abundance of resource. As the key healthy food development and ecology protection, H. rhamnoides has been developed widely. Meanwhile, the development of H. rhamnoides has obtained great achievements. Nowadays, H. rhamnoides is still a necessary economy crop, while it has great influence on ecology protection. This paper discussed the phytochemistry, pharmacology, clinical application and product development, and propounded some suggestions for future research and economy development to get comprehensive benefit of H. rhamnoides and to serve for well-off society.

4.Effect of Tanreqing injection on immune activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer.

To investigate the effect of Tanreqing injection on immune activity of peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer. The peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer and healthy persons were separated by the density gradient centrifugation method for subsequent experiments, with those from healthy persons as the positive control. The effect of Tanreqing injection on stimulating the proliferation of lymphocytes with phytohemagglutinin (PHA) was determined by MTT method. The effect of Tanreqing injection on the lymphocyte secretions of IFN-γ and TNF-α and the subset ratio of lymphocytes cultured separately or with Tanreqing injection of different concentrations were examined by ELISA and flow cytometry (FCM) respectively. In addition, the LDH release assay was used to detect the cytotoxicity of cytotoxic T cells (CTL) and natural killer cells (NK). According to the findings, all of immunological indexes of lymphocytes from patients with lung cancer were weaker than that of healthy persons, but with the obvious increases in proliferation activity and IFN-γ and TNF-α secretions of lymphocytes co-cultured with Tanreqing Injection (P < 0.05). Among lymphocyte subsets co-cultured with Tanreqing Injection, CD3+, CD3+ CD4+ and CD3- CD16 + 56+ cell ratios notably increased, whereas CD4+ CD25+ Treg cell ratio obviously decreased (P < 0.05). In the meantime, Tanreqing injection can markedly promote the cytotoxicities of CTL and NK (P < 0.05). In conclusion, Tanreqing injection shows a significant effect in promoting the immune activity of lymphocytes from patients with lung cancer and their anti-tumor immunity.

6.Evaluation of combined treatment of gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog with recombinant human growth hormone in girls with central precocious puberty

Objective To evaluate the effect of combined treatment with gonadotropin-releasing hormone analog(GnRHa)and recombinant human growth hormone(rhGH)on predicted adult height(PAH)in girls with central precocious puberty(CPP).Methods Fifteen girls with CPP,whose growth velocity during GnRHa treatment had been less than 4 cm/year,were given additional rhGH treatment at a dose of 1 U?kg~(-1)?w~(-1),sc, for 4-13 months.Comparisons of growth velocity,height SDS for bone age(HtSDS_(BA))and PAH were performed before and after the combined treatment.Results During rhGH combined with GnRHa therapy,growth velocity increased significantly[(7.4?1.7)cm/year vs (3.2?0.7)cm/year baseline,P<0.01].In 7 girls treated with rhGH and GnRHa for more than 9 months,growth velocity in the second 6 months[(6.5?1.0)cm/year]was slightly lower than that in the first 6 months[(8.8?1.1)cm/year],being both faster than that of baseline [(3.2?0.8)cm/year].There was a significant increase in rhGH-duration corrected change of HtSDS_(BA) [(0.35?0.15)/6 month vs (0.12?0.18 )/6 month baseline,P<0.01]and PAH[(3.2_+1.4)cm/ 6 month vs (1.4?1.1)cm/6 month baseline,P<0.01].Conclusion In girls with CPP showing a marked decrease in growth velocity during GnRHa treatment,the combined rhGH and GnRHa treatment remarkably improves growth velocity and PAH.
7.Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions in Normal Infants Hearing Screening

Objective To investigate the usage of distortion product otoacoustic emissions(DPOAE) in normal infants hearing screening.Methods One hundred infants(200 ears) without clinical condition of illness were checked in GSI 70 DPOAE screening.The pure tones were 2,3,4 kHz,the OAE screener scored the test result as a pass,when the responses were above the PASS/REFER line and the signal-to-noise was at least 10 dB.Results Ninty-four infants(188 ears) passed hearing screening. Four infants(8 ears) with ceruminous impaction didn′t pass screening;after extracting impacted cerumen from the external auditory meatus,the 4 infants(8 ears) passed screening.Two infants(2 ears) with secretory otitis media didn′t pass screening,but after medicine treatment for 1 week,they passed screening too.Conclusion DPOAE has advantages in infants hearing screening.J Appl Clin Pediatr,2006,21(3):168-169
8.Effects of Simple or Complex Stenting Techniques on Left Main Bifurcation Lesions

Objective To evaluate the immediate and long-term outcomes of left main bifurcation lesions using different stenting techniques.Methods 27 patients undergone unprotected left main coronary artery stenting had been analyzed.14 cases with simple stenting techniques and 13 cases with complex stenting techniques were involved.Results 40 coronary stents were deployed in 27 patients.The procedural success rate was 100%.No major adverse cardiac events(MACE)had developed in hospital.More true bifurcation lesions were involved in complex stenting group than in simple stenting group(84.6% vs 14.3%,P=0.0004),as well as multivessel lesions involved(100% vs 57.1%,P=0.0074).The residual ostial restenosis of left anterior descending artery(LAD)in complex stenting techniques group was more than that in simple stenting techniques group((4.29±4.25)vs(10.85±5.51),P=0.002).The residual ostial restenosis of left circumflex artery(LCX)in complex stenting group was less than that in simple stenting group((4.61±3.01)vs(13.63±11.21),P=0.009).The patients were followed up for 2~53 months.Angina pectoris recurred in 3 cases(11.1%)and target lesion revascularization(TLR)developed in 2 cases(7.41%).The total MACE happened in 2 cases(7.41%).There was no significant difference between complex stenting group and simple stenting group about symptom recurrence(7.1% vs 15.4%,P=0.59)and TLR(0 vs 15.4%,P=0.13).Conclusion Both simple and complex stenting techniques are feasible with better in-hospital and long-term outcomes.
9.Effects of asthma and inhaled corticosteroids in children on the final adult height: a systemic review and Meta analysis.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of asthma and inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) in children on the final adult height.
METHODSA search was performed to collect studies evaluating the relationship between asthma and ICS in children and the final adult height in PubMed, BCI, EMbase, Web of Science, CNKI and Wanfang databases, then a systemic review and Meta analysis were conducted.
RESULTSSix studies evaluating the relationship between childhood asthma and the final adult height were enrolled. Three of them indicated that the final adult height was not influenced by childhood asthma. Two of them suggested a mild effect, and the effect was correlated with severity of childhood asthma. One of them indicated that a lower final adult height related to childhhod asthma was found only in black females without a high school education. Four studies evaluating the relationship between ICS and the final adult height were included. Compared with the non-ICS treatment group, healthy control group and the target height, ICS treatment had no effects on the final adult height.
CONCLUSIONSChildhood asthma does not or only mildly decrease the final adult height. ICS treatment does not significantly affect the final adult height.

10.Different expression of TGF-beta1 and collagen during the healing process of wound infected by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

OBJECTIVETo explore the different expression of TGF-beta1 and collagen during the healing process of wound infected by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAO1).
METHODS24 female Wistar rats were randomly divided into pure wound group (group A) and wound + PAO1 group (group B). The re-epithelial rate, shrinkage rate and neutrophils number on the wounds were observed on the 1st, 3rd, 7th and 10th day after operation. The expression of TGF-beta1 and collage I, Ill was also detected.
RESULTSOn the 7th day, the re-epithelial rate in group A was higher than that in group B, while the shrinkage rate in group A was lower than that in group B. The neutrophils number increased to peak on the 1st day in group B, but on the 3rd day in group A. The TGF-beta1 expression increased after operation in both groups, but it decreased in group B on the 3rd day and re-increased after that. The TGF-beta1 expression was significantly different between the two groups on the 7th day (P < 0.05). The expression of collagen I and III decreased during healing. The expression of collagen III in group A was higher on the 3rd day and was lower on the 7th and 10th day than that in group B, showing a significant difference (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSPAO1 infection could delay the expression of TGF-beta1 and collagen I, III on wound, which may interfere the healing process of wound.
