1.Study on problems and countermeasures in bilingual English teaching for foreign-related nursing students

Objective To investigate the current situation and problems of bilingual English teaching for students majored in foreign-related nursing and to explore its countermeasures.Methods Selfmade questionnaire survey was conducted anonymously among 69 undergraduate students majored in foreign-related nursing.Students' basic information,self-evaluation of English level,classroom interaction,evaluation and satisfaction of the curriculum,their conception of curriculum necessity,elective reasons,preferences of teaching methods and learning style,learning interest,as well as confidence in learning were investigated.Excel 2007 was used to do statistical analysis.Results 92.42% questionnaire was effectively recovered.It is suggested that this group of students' public English background was strong (90.16 % passed CET-4).Students have low sense of self-identity and lack of confidence in themselves (self-rated English:‘ very good' for 0%,‘ good' for 1.64%,‘ general' for 52.46%,‘ bad' for 39.34%,‘ very poor' for 6.56%).They knew the necessity of the curriculum clearly,but paid less attention to it (extracur-ricular professional English learning time of 68.85% was less than 30 minutes; 21.31% of them hardly took time to learn).There were significant differences in favorable proportion of English teaching among stu-dents,from less than 50% to 100% respectively.Poor speaking and listening ability and poor profes-sional vocabularies had negative impact on classroom interaction.Conclusions Faculty need to make efforts in inspiring students' interest of learning,improving students' English speaking and listening abilities as well as confidence cultivation and further explore curriculum planning.
2.UBE2B gene and male infertility: an update.

Male infertility is a worldwide problem, and about 15% of the cases are associated with spermatogenesis-related gene mutation. The mammalian gene UBE2B is the homolog of the RAD6 gene of yeast, belonging to the ubiquitin proteasome system and playing an important role in spermatogenesis. Mice lacking the UBE2B gene are infertile, with reduced sperm motility, increased morphologically abnormal sperm, and inhibited meiosis of spermatogonia. Accumulated evidence shows that UBE2B gene mutants and single nucleotide polymorphisms are associated with male infertility. This article reviews the relation between the UBE2B gene and male infertility, offering some theoretical evidence for the diagnosis and treatment of male infertility.

3.Comparison of food allergy prevalence of food allergy in children with or without bronchial asthma in cite of China

Objective To explore the prevalence and clinical characteristics of food allergy in bronchial asth-matic children less than 14 years old in China. Methods A case - controlled study was designed. The questionnaires were given to children,who were diagnosed to be asthmatic during the national epidemiological survey of asthma in chil-dren in 31 cities from September 2009 to August 2010. Non - asthmatic children,matched with the cases in age and gender,were selected during the same survey as control subjects if they were matched with the cases in age and sex. In-formation regarding the food allergen and symptom of food - induced anaphylaxis was analyzed. The difference in food allergy was compared between children with or without bronchial asthma. Results As a result,9235 asthmatic children and 11391 control subjects were enrolled in the case - control study. There were 14. 66%(1354 / 9235 cases)of the asthmatic children who had food allergy,compared to 3. 99%(455 / 11391 cases)of the non - asthmatics children, and the findings showed a significant difference (χ2 = 725. 25,P < 0. 001). The most common food allergens were fish and shrimp in both groups,and the difference was not significant [44. 09% (597 / 1354 cases)vs. 42. 20% (192 / 455 cases),χ2 = 0. 50,P > 0. 05]. The rate of peanut allergy was 4. 58% (62 / 1354 cases)and 1. 54% (7 / 455 cases) (χ2 = 8. 58,P < 0. 05),respectively. And the rates of fruit allergy in the asthmatic group and the non - asthmatic group were 14. 03%(190 / 1354 cases)and 27. 69%(126 / 455 cases)(χ2 = 44. 01,P < 0. 05),respectively. Cutaneous and nasal symptoms were common clinical manifestations. The rates of rash,pruritus,and swelling sympions were 47. 27%(640 / 1354 cases)and 61. 32%(279 / 455 cases)(χ2 = 26. 90,P < 0. 001),respectively for asthmatic group and non -asthmatic group. Rates of nasal symptoms were 17. 13%(232 / 1354 cases)and 10. 55%(48 / 455 cases)(χ2 = 11. 29, P = 0. 001),respectively in the asthmatic group and the non - asthmatic groups. Respiratory symptoms,such as cough and wheezing,were 25. 33%(343 / 1354 cases)and 5. 49%(25 / 455 cases)(χ2 = 80. 72,P < 0. 001)in 2 groups. Twenty cases of 1354 asthmatic children had severe food allergy,while such severe conditions occurred only 1 child without asthma (455 cases)occurred severe condition (1. 48% vs. 0. 22%,χ2 = 4. 96,P < 0. 05). Conclusion The-rate of food allergen sensitization is highly prevalent in the children with asthma. Compared to those without asthma, and their types of food allergen and clinical symptoms are different from the latter.
4.Proliferation characteristics of adipose-derived stem cells from neonatal suckling rats and adult ones

Objective To investigate the proliferative differences of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) from neonatal suckling SD rats (5-d-old) and adult ones under the same culture condition.Methods ADSCs were isolated from the subcutaneous adipose tissues of neonatal suckling SD rats and adult ones,and then,type Ⅰ collagenase digestion was employed to obtain the ADSCs; the morphology of these cells was detected.The expressions of such cell surface markers as CD45,CD29 and CD90 were observed. The number of ADSCs on the 4th d of culture under the same condition and with the same planted density was compared between the neonate and adult rats. In vitro culture of the second generation of ADSCs was performed in the 96-well plates, and CCK-8 and alamar blue kit were employed to compare and quantitate the proliferative differences; optical density was observed by microplate reader. Results The ADSCs from neonatal SD rats and adult ones expressed the stem cell biomarkers: the expression of CD45 was negative, and that of CD29 was 98.04% and 93.17%,respectively,and that of CD90 was 94.92% and 93.3%,respectively,for neonate SD rat and adult ones.The cell counting results indicated that the number of ADSCs from neonatal rats ([8.87±0.13]×105 cells) was larger than that of adult ones ([4.51±0.36]×105 cells) after being cultured under the same condition and at the same planted density. The optical density value of ADSCs in neonatal rats was significantly higher than that in adult ones on the 6th and 7th d of culturing detected by CCK-8 kit and on the 2nd-7th d of culturing by alamar blue assay. Conclusion The proliferative ability of ADSCs from neonatal rats is greater than that of adult ones.
