Objective Acne vulgaris remains a major problem in dermatological practice. Phototherapy for acne with blue and red light-emitting diode (LED) arrays has recently attracted attention.The aim of this study is to observe the clinical effect of the blue and red light combination phototherapy on acne. Methods 65 individuals were recruited: 25 females and 5 males. Patients underwent treatment of 20-25 minutes blue light and 5-10 minutes combined light treatment twice per week. Continuous irradiation for 4 weeks was as 1 session. Mild acne vulgaris was treated for 1 session, moderate and severe acne were treated for 1 or 2 sessions. Results After system treatment, the acne lesion was reduced apparently without side effect. The effective rate of mild acne vulgaris, moderate acne vulgaris and severe acne vulgris was 80 %, 89.4 % and 88.2 %, respectively. Conclusion The combination of blue and red light-emitting diode therapy for acne vulgaris is effective. This therapy is convenient without side effect, and it is a new preferable modality for the treatment of acne.

Objective To discuss the effects of applying electric heating pattern instrument in experimental teaching of fixed partial denture technology.Methods Totally 98 prosthodontic undergraduates of 2008 and 2009 grades were selected in this study； 46 students of 2008 grade were taken as control group and 52 students of 2009 grade were taken as experimental group.Students in experimental group made wax patterns with electric heating pattern instruments to melt inlay wax while those in control group made wax patterns with instruments heated by alcohol lamps.Teaching effects were evaluated by experimental test scores and questionnaires.Results Test scores of experimental group were (22.6± 1.8),obviously higher than those of (22.6-± 1.8) in control group (P ＜ 0.05).Satisfaction degree of experimental group were increased significantly compared with that of control group based on the resuits of questionnaire.Conclusions Applying electric heating pattern instrument in making wax patterns in experimental teaching of fixed partial denture technology is easy to operate and can improve the quality of wax pattern and working efficiency as well as enhance students' confidence,therefore it is worthy further spreading.

ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation between ineffective esophageal motility (IEM)and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).MethodsA total of 90 GERD patients were enrolled in our study,including 62 patients with reflux esophagitis (RE) and 28 with non-erosive reflux disease (NERD).All the patients underwent gastroscopy,24-hour esophageal pH monitoring and esophageal manometry.ResultsIn the RE group 30 (48.4％) patients were diagnosed as having IEM,which was significantly higher than the NERD group (6 patients,21.4％ ) (P＜0.05).Positive esophageal acid exposure was more often seen in patients with IEM than in those with normal esophageal motility (91.7％ v.s.57.2％,P ＜0.01 ).The values of total percentage of time with pH ＜4,percentage of reflux time in supine position,long-duration episodes ( ＞5 min) and the longest reflux time and DeMeester score were significantly higher in the IEM cases than those in the normal esophageal motility cases ( P ＜ 0.01 ),so was the values of number of reflux episodes (P ＜ 0.05).ConclusionIEM is the most common esophageal dysmotility in patients with GERD and closely related to distal esophageal acid exposure and RE.

Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of 800 nm diode laser for removing unwanted hair of Ⅲ-Ⅴ skin type.Methods A total of 114 patients were treated with 800 nm diode laser on 234 sites.Four sessions were performed at an interval of 6-8 weeks.Percentage of hair reduction was evaluated 3 months after each session by comparing the terminal hair count to the baseline values.Follow-up was performed 6-8 months after the last session.In addition,subjective satisfaction of physicians and patients was evaluated according to a four-grade scale and the satisfaction rates were calculated.Results After fouth session,97.01％ of patients had more than 40 ％ hair reduction,and 83.33 ％ patients had more than 60 ％ hair reduction.Hyperpigmentation was observed on 15 (6.41％) sites,and disappeared after 6-8 months follow-up.The satisfactory rates of the physicians and the patients were 98.25 ％ and 96.12 ％,respectively,with no statistical difference (x2 =3.33,P＞0.05).Conclusions 800 nm diode laser for removing unwanted hair of Ⅲ-Ⅴ skin type is a safe and effective treatment option for hair removal,with relatively less side effect.

Objective To investigate the expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 and explore their relationship with tumor invasion and local metastasis in pancreatic carcinoma.Methods The expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 in 30 patients with pancreatic carcinomas and 6 cases with normal pancreatic tissues were detected by SABC immunohistochemical method.Results The positive rates of VEGF-D and MMP-2 proteins were 60%(18/30)and 66.7%(20/30)respectively,no expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 was detected in normal pancreatie tissues.The expression of VEGF-D was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis(P＜0.05),and the expression of MMP-2 was significantly correlated with lymph node metastasis and tumor local invasion(P＜0.05).The expression of VEGF-D protein Was positively correlated with MMP-2 protein(rs=0.54,P＜0.01).Conclusions There is a significantly positive correlation between high expression of VEGF-D and MMP-2 proteins in pancreatic carcinoma,and they may contribute to the invasive properties of pancreatic cancer.

Objective To observe the effects of electroacupuncture at Ganshu (BL18) and Zusanli (ST36) on depression state and gastrointestinal motility and relevant protein expressions in brain of rats with stress-induced depressive functional dyspepsia. Methods Totally 48 Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal, model, electroacupuncture (EA) and sham-operation group, with 12 rats in each group. Depressive functional dyspepsia model was established by chronic unpredictable mild stress protocols. From day 15 to day 28, the EA group was given electroacupuncture at BL18 and ST36, and the sham-operation group was stimulated by electroacupuncture at 1/3 and 2/3 of the tail. Body weight test, open field test and sucrose preference test were measured on day 0, day 14 and day 28. After 14-day administration, gastric residual volume and intestinal propulsion rate of semisolid paste were detected. The expression of βCaMK inⅡ lateral habenulas and BDNF in hippocampus were measured by Western blot. Results Compared with the normal group, the weight, the sucrose preference rate, the behavior score, the small intestinal propulsion rate of semisolid paste and the expression of BDNF in hippocampus decreased significantly both in the model group and sham-operation group (P<0.01), and the gastric residual volume of semisolid paste and the expression of βCaMK inⅡ lateral habenulas increased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the weight, the sucrose preference rate, the behavior score, the small intestinal propulsion rate of semisolid paste and the expression of BDNF in hippocampus increased significantly in EA group (P<0.01), and the gastric residual volume of semisolid paste and the expression of βCaMK inⅡ lateral habenulas decreased significantly (P<0.01). Compared with the sham-operation group, the expression of βCaMKⅡ in lateral habenulas decreased significantly, the expression of BDNF in hippocampus increased significantly in EA group (P<0.01). Conclusion Electroacupuncture at Ganshu (BL18) and Zusanli (ST36) can improve depression and gastrointestinal motility of rats with depressive functional dyspepsia, which may be related to the inhibition of βCaMK inⅡ lateral habenulas and the activation of BDNF in hippocampus dyspepsia.

Objective To assess true vocal fold (TVF) length and cricothyroid distance(CTD) with ultrasonography in male-to-female (MtF)transsexual voice surgery.Methods Five MtF transsexuals were divided into two groups according to their voice change surgery methods.High-frequency ultrasonography was used to measure the length of true vocal folds and cricothyroid distance.Measurements were compared pre-and post-surgery, and correlations with fundamental frequency (F0) were analyzed.Results The ultrasonography measurements clearly showed the laryngeal structure and TVF measurement marks.After vocal fold shortening and retrodisplacement of anterior commissure(VFSRAC) surgery, the ultrasonographic measurements showed that the shortening length of TVF were 0.37 cm(21%),0.69 cm(37%) and 0.40 cm(25%), respectively.The CTD in ultrasonographicimages were 1.0 cm pre-surgery of cricothyroid approximation (CTA) and-0.33 post-surgery of CTA.The displacement of cricoid cartilage was 1.33 cm, which was consistent with the laryngeal CT image.Conclusion Both TVF length and CTD can be shown by high-frequency ultrasonography, which can be used to quantitatively assessment and follow-up MtF transsexual voice surgery.

BACKGROUND:A large number of studies have reported that endoscopic radiofrequency ablation surgeries were better than traditional open surgeries for gluteal muscle contracture, but there is no meta-analysis on the clinical outcomes of endoscopic surgeries versus traditional open surgeries.
OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of endoscopic radiofrequency ablation surgeries versus traditional open surgeries in the treatment of gluteal muscle contracture.
METHODS:Eligible studies were identified from electronic databases including EMbase, Medline, PubMed, OVID, Cochrane Library, Springerlink, CNKI, WanFang, and VIP between January 1970 and May 2014. The literatures about the clinical efficacy of endoscopic radiofrequency ablation surgeries versus traditional open surgeries in the treatment of gluteal muscle contracture were retrieved. We screened the retrieved literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria and performed a Meta analysis with the software RevMan 5.2 after identification of the relevant data.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:A total of 830 patients from 14 studies were included for the analysis, including 394 patients who underwent endoscopic surgeries and 436 patients who underwent traditional open surgeries. Among the main outcomes measured, the incidence of postoperative pain (relative risk=0.33, 95%confidence interval (CI):0.27-0.42, P<0.001) and postoperative complications (odds ratio=0.40, 95%CI:0.23-0.70, P=0.001) in the endoscopic surgery group were significantly lower than that in the traditional open surgery group. The curative effects showed no significant difference between the two groups (odds ratio=1.09, 95%CI:0.52-2.26, P=0.82). Among the secondary outcomes measured, the incision length, postoperative off-bed activity time and postoperative hospitalization in the endoscopic surgery group were significantly better than that in the traditional open surgery group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the surgery duration and recurrence rate (P>0.05) between the two groups. Endoscopic radiofrequency ablation surgeries are similar to traditional open surgeries in the curative effects, recurrence rate and surgery duration, and are better than traditional open surgeries in the incisional length, postoperative pain, postoperative off-bed activity time, postoperative hospitalization and postoperative complication.

Objective To assess the effectiveness of Chinese materia medica (CMM) as adjuvant therapy of antibacterial for pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis.Methods Retrieved RCT research of CMM as adjuvant therapy of antibacterial for pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis from CNKI,Wanfang,VIP,PubMed,and Medline database from 1980 to 2016.Literatures were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion crteria,Jadad scores method was used to evaluate the literatures and meta-analysis was performed by RevMan 5.3.Results A total of 34 randomized controlled trials were included.Meta-analysis showed that the trial group was superior to the control group in terms of efficiency,cure rate,remission time of main symptoms,mesenteric lymph node recovery,and recurrence rate,there was statistical difference.Conclusions CMM as adjuvant therapy of antibacterial for pediatric mesenteric lymphadenitis is more effective than the use of antibacterial alone.
