Journal of Chongqing Medical University 2007;0(12):-
Objective:To study and evaluate the outcome of Express~(TM) Claucoma Valve Implantation for refractory glaucoma. Methods:Cases series included the eyes of Caucasian patients with refractory glaucoma, operated between 01.2003—10.2004. There were 41 eyes. The Ex-PRESS~(TM) devices were inserted under the sclera flap and into the anterior chamber. If necessary anti-metabolile (MMc or 5-Fu) was used under the sclera flap before injecting the device. Each patient underwent ophthalmic examinations (Vision,IOP,visual field,gonioscopy,cup/disc ratio) before and after the operation. The longest postoperative follow-up period was 12 months. Resultes:The IOP decreased from 24.1?4.62mm Hg pre-operatively to 14.65?1.96mmHg at 26 weeks amt 13.81?1.91mmHg at one year. Success rate was 90.2% (IOP below 20 mm Hg with or without drugs). Complete success was 80% (IOP below 20 mm Hg without anti-glaucoma drops or medications). In 4 eyes IOP was not controlled with eyes drops, and the eves had already been re-operated. 3 cases had an athalamy in anterior chamber but recovered soon by treatment. None of the patients developed infection or irreversible damage to the eye. No case was found to have erosion. Conclusions:the safety and efficacy of the device ureter a sclera flap have been demonstrated in glaucoma surgery in this study.
9.Current progress in pathogenesis and prevention of hyperoxia-induced ocular injury
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(2):184-187
Hyperoxia, including hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) and high-concentration oxygen (HO), has an important therapeutic effect on various ophthalmological diseases, such as retinal vein occlusion, ischemic optic neuropathy and central serous chorioretinopathy. However, excessive inhalation of oxygen of high-concentration or high atmospheric pressure can cause damage of ocular tissue, in which the lens opacity and retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) are the most common complications following hyperoxia exposure. At present, the pathogenesis of hyperoxia-induced ocular injury is still unclear thoroughly, and it may be related to oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation and inflammation. This article reviewed the current advance in the mechanism and the potential prevention of hyperoxia-induced the lens, retina and other ocular injuries.
10.Relationship between cyclic adenosine monophosphate and auqaporin 8 expression and distribution in human amnion-derived cells
Chinese Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology 2008;43(9):685-689
Objective To study the effect of cyclic adenosine monophosphate on aquaporin 8 (AQP8) expression and distribution in human amnion-derived WISH cells. Methods Human amnionderived WISH ceils were cultured. The cells were divided into control group and study group at random. The study group was established by exposure to various concentrations of 8-Br-cAMP.Western analysis was used to quantify AQP8 expression levels. RT-PCR was used to quantify AQP8 mRNA expression levels.Immunofluorescence was used to determine the localization of AQP8 in WISH cells. Results With increase of cAMP,AQP8 mRNA and protein expressions significantly increased in WISH cells in vitro. When the concentration of cAMP reached 200 μmol/L,AQP8 mRNA and protein expressions were highest.Incubation with cAMP (200 μmol/L) for 2 hours resulted in a 2-fold increase in AQP8 mRNA level, and incubation for 8 hours resulted in a peak. After incubation for 16 hours AQP8 mRNA level began to descend, and after 24 hours it decreased to baseline.Incubation with cAMP for 8 hours AQP8 protein level began to increase.Incubation for 24 hours resulted in a peak in AQP8 protein level, and after incubation for 48 hours it began to decline.By immunofluorescence microscopy after incubation with cAMP (200 μmol/L) cells,AQP8 labeling in plasma membrane was enhanced and intracellular AQP8 labeling was decreased. Conclusion The cAMP triggers translocation of AQP8 from cytosel to the plasma membrane via vesicle-transporting related protein instead of AQP8 itself,cAMP may upregulate the transcription of target gene protein kinase A.The cAMP may be the critical regulatory medium of AQP8 in WISH cells.
