Objective To explore the effect of different doses of cyclophosphamide(CTX) on the drug-resistance of implanted human A549 lung cancer in nude mice,and investigate the anti-tumor effect and toxicity.Methods BALB/c nude mice bearing A549 lung carcinoma were randomized into low-dose metronomic(LDM) CTX group,maximum tolerate dose(MTD) CTX group and normal saline group.The changes of tumor volume,weight and toxicity were observed.Expression of glutathione S-transferase-?(GST-?) and lung resistance-related protein(LRP) in the tumor were detected by immunohistochemistry SP method.Results In LDM CTX group,the tumor grew fast at first,then slowed down gradually and grew slowly for a long time,while in MTD CTX group tumor grew slowly at first,then it accelerated.Side effects of chemotherapy:the weight of nude mice was lost persistently in MTD CTX group,while lost insignificantly in LDM CTX group.No obvious toxicity was observed in LDM CTX group.GST-? and LRP expression in LDM CTX group were not significantly different from those in the control,but significance was seen in MTD CTX group compared with those in the control(P

Trials in public hospital reforms bear special significance for rational deployment of health resources and exploring the separation of hospital management from routine operations. The paper identified such setbacks in the present trials as easy technology measures, numerous models of separations, difficulty in setting pharmaceutical service fees, and inadequate governance. Authors also recommended such measures as searching for appropriate reforms for public hospitals locally, greater financial resources for completing the compensation mechanism of public hospitals, streamlining their management system for separation of management from operations, and improving governance. All these efforts are designed to enhance the public benefit nature of public hospitals.

Objective To study the DNA damage and repair of normal lung interstitial cells and human lung adenocarcinoma cells exposed to cigarette smoke. Methods Cultured human embryo lung fibroblasts (HLF) and human lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells. Mainstream smoke was collected by using dimerhyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and phosphate buffer solution (PBS) as absorbents. MTT assay was used to test the cytotoxicity of the solutions of cigarette smoke, then selected the concentrations of the solutions with no obvious cytotoxicity to treat cells and detected DNA damage and repair by comet assay. Results As treated with original solutions or 1/2 dilution of DMSO cigarette smoke solutions only, the Viability of cells was below 80%, but it was beyond 80% when treated with PBS solutions. Objective To observe the curative effects and toxicity of low-dose bortezomib plus thalidomide and chemotherapy in treatment of multiple myeloma. Methods 35 patients with initial, refractory or relapsed MM received at least two cycles of treatment with bortezomib at 1.1 mg/m2 intravenously on days 0,3, 7, and 10, and by daily oral thalidomide escalated from 50mg to 150 mg and chemotherapy. The chemotherapy regimens included MP, VAD and AD regimen which was chosen according to the status of patients. Results After a median follow-up of 20 months, the overall response rate was 82.8 %, complete remission (CR)48.6 %, very good partial remission (VEPR) 17.1%, and partial remission 17.1%. The 3-year PFS and OS were 60.92 % and 72.41% separately. ORR and OS were same in initial and refractory or relapsed MM patients. Grade 3 or 4 adverse events including debility (3/35), nausing and vomiting (8/35), constipation (4/35), peripheral sensory neuropathy (3/35), neutropenia (10/35) and thrombocytopenia (12 %) were observed.Conclusion The regimen of low-dose bortezomib plus thalidomide and chemotherapy is a highly effective and safety regimen for MM patients. The maintenane therapy with thalidomide may prolong PFS.

Objective:To discuss the implementation and experience of the quality control circle ( QCC) activi-ty in shortening the interval time of consecutive operation and speeding up the turnover of operating table. Method:We formed a QCC team and explored the influential factors of the interval time of consecutive operation using quali-ty control technique. We found out the real reason, put forward corresponding countermeasures, and organized the implementation. Results: Before the implementation of QCC, the average interval time of consecutive operation was 24. 6 minutes, whereas it decreased to 16. 2 minutes after the implementation of QCC with the progress rate of 64. 87%. Through the QCC activities, the problem-solving ability, responsibility, communication and coordina-tion ability, motivation, confidence, team cohesion, and the use of quality control technique of the QCC members has improved significantly. Conclusion:Through the quality management tools of QCC, the interval time of con-secutive operation has greatly shorten, the turnover of operation table has improved, and doctors′ and operating room nurses′satisfaction has improved significantly.

A new eremophilane derivative, (3aR,4R,5S,7S,7aS)-2-acetyl-7,7a-dihydroxy-3a,4-dimethyl-3a,4,5,6,7,7a-hexahydro-3H-inden-5-yl acetate (1) and three known compounds, 10beta-hydroxy-eremophil-7 (11)-en-12,8alpha-olide(2), beta-sitosterol (3) and beta-daucosterol(4) have been isolated from Ligularia intermedia. The compounds were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel and Sephadex LH-20,and identified on the basis of spectral analyses (MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR).

Herpetin (HPT) is an active monomer constituent isolated from lignanoid in seeds of Herpetospermum caudigerum. HPT shows inhibitory effects in hepatic injury and HBV-DNA and the replication. In the study, we successfully prepare herpetin liposomes by film dispersion method for the first time. The prescription process was optimized, with the entrapment efficiency as the index. According to the optimized prescription, the mass ratio of HPT: phospholipids: cholesterol was 2.44:78.05: 19.51, the hydration and de-molding process was performed with 0.5% F68 solution at 50 degrees C, and the water-bath ultrasonic time was 20 min. The HPT liposomes prepared by this method showed an average entrapment efficiency of (94.50 +/- 2.15)% and a particle size of (119.2 +/- 10.7) nm, which was consistent with the trial expectations and will lay a solid foundation for the hepatic targeting delivery system in future.
