Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2010;33(1):27-29
Objective To investigate the changes of heart function after pacing in right ventricular inlet septum(RVIS) and right ventricular apex(RVA). Methods VVI pacing was performed in 64 patients who were randomly divided into two groups: RVIS group (33 patients) and RVA group (31 patients). The changes of serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP),pacing parameters and QRS interval were assessed in 24 hours, 3 months and 1 year after the ventricle was paced effectively. Results When the ventricle was paced effectively, the pacing parameters, including voltage threshold and electrode impedance were similar in different stages between the two groups. In 24 hours, 3 months and 1 year after the ventricle was paced effectively, the QRS interval in RVIS group were obviously narrower than those in RVA group [( 128.0±28.6 ) ms vs ( 150.0 ± 37.1 ) ms, ( 131.0±21.5 ) ms vs ( 153.0 ±28.5 ) ms, ( 130.0 ±19.7 ) ms vs ( 155.0±20.2) ms, P < 0.05 ]. After treatment, the level of serum BNP increased significantly in two groups. The BNP level in R VIS group was significantly lower than that in RVA group (P < 0.05). Conclusion The R VIS pacing is not only as safe and effective as RVA pacing, but also is more consistent with the physiological ventricular activation sequence.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the inhibitive effect of Photodynamic therapy (PDT) with different parameters on dental caries formation in rats.MethodsWistar rats were infected with S.mutans to establish the rat caries mode 1.The rat's teeth were treated with 0.9% NS and 0.2% NaF as controls;laser, photosensitizer and laser plus photosensitizer, respectively as treated groups.Hematoporyrin monomethyl ether(HM ME) was used as photosensitizer and laser as the light source. The rats were sacrificed after five weeks.Keyes count was used to measure the inhibitory effect of PDT on dental caries. The surface morphology of the teeth was evaluated by scan electronic microscopy(SEM).Results The PDT-treated group and NaF-treated group showed significantly reduced Keyes scores compared with the negative controls (P<0.05).The laser-treated group,photosensitizer-treated group and NS-treated group showed no significantly reduced Keyes scores compared with the negative controls (P<0.05).The differences of Keyes scores between various parameter PDT treated groups were significant (P<0.05).Additionally,Keyes scores reduced gradually with the increasing of laser power. The outcome of SEM showed that the teeth treated with different laser powers exhibited different changes in morphology. Conclusion HMMEPDT had significant inhibitive efficacy on caries development in rats and its inhibitory effect presented close correlation with the power of laser, which indicates that it is important to apply appropriate power in clinical treatment.

Objective To investigate the apoptotic effect of the transmembrane form vaccine of human blood group A mimotope on malignant melanoma cell line B16. Methods B16 cells were transfected with different recombinant plasmid through Lipofectamine 2000 and incubated with different concentration of monoclonal anti-A antibody at 2.5 μg/ml, 5 μg/ml,10 μg/ml and 20 μg/ml. Apoptosis rate of cells was determined with Annexin Ⅴ/PI double staining by flow cytometry. Results Apoptosis rate to P/F-M-pIRES group B16 cells was 74.74% when anti-A monoclonal antibody concentration was 10 μg/ml; apoptosis rate of plasmids carrying peptide/Fas fusion gene such as P/F-M-pIRES group and P/F-pIRES group were significantly higher than M-pIRES group and pIRES group. The apoptosis rate was statistically significantly different between different recombinated plasmid groups (F=669.707,P<0.01). The apoptosis rate was statistically significantly different between different antibody groups (F=106.596,P<0.01). The interaction between recombinated plasmid groups and antibody groups was statistically significant (F=34.806,P<0.01). Conclusions The transmembrane form vaccine of human blood group A mimotope could induce B16 cell apoptosis in vitro. This vaccine may be a promising candidate for potential malignant melanoma therapy.

Objective To study the relationship between cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and ischemia modified albumin (IMA) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods Ninety-six patients with T2DM were selected as T2DM group retrospectively, and 60 cases of healthy physical examination were selected as control group, the patient' s medical history data were collected, the IMA was detected and Doppler ultrasound examination was performed. The relationship between serum IMA level and some laboratory parameters were analyzed. Results Twenty-eight cases (29.2%,28/96) occurred CVD among 96 cases of T2DM patients. The level of IMA in T2DM group was higher than that in control group [(58.25 ± 11.84) kU/L vs.(23.38 ± 6.41) kU/L],there was significant difference (P < 0.05).The levels of IMA in T2DM combined with CVD group (28 cases) and T2DM not combined with CVD group (68 cases) were(91.46 ± 13.63),(47.91 ± 9.38) kU/L; the level of IMA in T2DM combined with CVD group was higher than that in T2DM not combined with CVD group and control group, there was significant difference (P < 0.05).All patients completed echocardiography,Spearman correlation analysis between IMA and echocardiography indicators showed that the level of IMA was positively correlated with left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (r =0.546,P =0.031),interventricular septal thickness (r =0.427,P =0.039),posterior wall diameter of left ventricle at end-diastolic (r =0.582,P =0.026) and left venifieular mass index (r =0.339,P =0.042),and IMA was negatively correlated with ejection fraction of left ventricle (r =-0.561,P =0.024).Multivariable Logistic regression analysis showed that IMA,high-sensitivity C reactive protein, diabetes duration, fasting blood glucose levels were independent risk factors for CVD.Conclusions Serum IMA level is significantly higher in T2DM patients.IMA level is a related risk factor for CVD.
