OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy between the reducing technique with consciousness conduction involved and the reducing technique by needle rotation of acupuncture in the treatment of lunbar strain of cold damp pattern.
METHODSOne hundred and eight patients were randomized into group A and group B, 54 cases in each one. Ashi points were the main points in the two groups. In the group A, the reducing technique with consciousness conduction involved was applied to ashi points. In the group B, the reducing technique with needle rotation was adopted. Cupping and the irradiation specific electromagnetic wave apparatus (TDP) were used in the two groups as the adjuvant therapy. The treatment was given once every two days, and 10 treatments made one session. The treatment stopped till pain disappeared. The efficacy was evaluated in 1 session of treatment. The numerical rating scale (NRS) and the Oswestry disability index (ODI) were observed before and at the end of treatment. NRS of acupuncture itself was observed at the end of treatment. The recurrence rate was compared between the two groups.
RESULTSThe curative and remarkably effective rate was 87.0% (47/54) in the group A, better than 63.0% (34/54) in the group B (P < 0.01). After treatment, NRS and ODI scores were all reduced as compared with those before treatment in the two groups (both P < 0.01). The results in the group A were better than those in the group B (both P < 0.01). Three months after treatment, the recurrence rate was 3.8% (2/52) in the group A, better than 17.7% (9/51, P < 0.05) in the group B. Pain induced by acupuncture itself was mild in the two groups and NRS score in the group A was lower than that in the group B (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture with the consciousness conduction involved is superior to the reducing technique with needle rotation in the treatment of lumbar strain of cold damp pattern, in which, pain induced by acupuncture itself is much milder than that induced by the reducing technique with needle rotation.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2016;36(5):543-547
By analyzing the acupuncture taboos in Neijing (Internal Classic) on clinical application of mind conduction of acupuncture therapy in going against the actual situation, astronomy and others, it is found that the relevant acupuncture taboo implies many subtle mysteries of human body, qi, mind and astronomy, which have not been discovered yet in modern science and are very significant in qi protection. In Neijing, the acupuncture physicians have been highly required in the mind treatment, in which, accurately regulating qi circulation is the target in the treatment. The mind conduction is used for qi circulation to accomplish accurately the reinforcing or reducing in the deficiency or excess condition. All of the taboos are provided to normalize the accuracy of reinforcing and reducing technique of acupuncture therapy and avoid the damage of qi in human body. Hence, those taboos must be obeyed so as to prevent from serious consequence and ensure the safety of this acupuncture therapy.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2016;36(3):274-278
By analyzing the articles in Huangdi Neijing (Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor), combined with the verification of consciousness in vitro in clinic and modern science, it is found Huangdi Neijing has made special requirements of treating spirit for physicians using spirit-qi acupuncture. The physicians consciously use different methods to motivate the spirit of physician and patients, especially patients, to transform it to the physiological effect of patients, which could minimize the psychological factors that make negative influence on treatment; also the psychotherapy is considered as the most important principle of treating spirit. The reinforcing and reducing methods in later generations, mainly lifting-thrusting twirling method, unintentionally lead patients into a basic or strong status of treating spirit or keeping spirit during the process of achieving stimulation and needle sensation. To partially perform the special role of treating spirit for physicians in Huangdi Neijing on patients could cause the chages including patient-based using spirit to move qi. It not only inspires the body's natural resistance to disease and self-healing, but also motivates the self-protection mechanism of keeping spirit.

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2021;37(2):127-132
Objective:To observe the changes of choriocapillary blood flow area (CBFA) and diameter of ellipsoid zone absence (DEZA) of eyes with idiopathic macular hole (IMH) before and after surgery and its correlation with visual function. Methods:A prospective study. From May 2019 to January 2020, 23 IMH patients (IMH group and fellow eyes group) diagnosed in the Department of Opthalmology of The First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College, and 30 age and gender-matched normal controls (30 eyes, control group) were included in this study. All patients were examined the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) before and after surgery. The BCVA examination was performed using the international standard Snellen visual acuity chart, which was converted into logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) BCVA for record. CBFA and DEZA were obtained by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). CBFA was measured on the choriocapillary with a circle of 1.0 mm radius centered in the fovea. DEZA was the diameter of ellipsoid zone absence horizontally. The differences of CBFA and logMAR BCVA in the three groups, and the changes of CBFA, DEZA, logMAR BCVA in IMH group before and after surgery were analyzed. The measurement data between the three groups were compared by one-way analysis of variance, and the independent samples t test was used for the comparison between the two groups. Pearson correlation analysis was used for the correlation between the index, multiple linear regression analysis were performed between postoperative visual acuity and preoperative parameters. Results:Before and 6 months after surgery, the logMAR BCVA in IMH group were 1.26±0.7 and 0.48±0.22, CBFA were 1.49±0.30 and 1.92±0.17 mm 2, DEZA were 1 080.22±576.98 and 433.78±423.04 μm, respectively. Compared with those before surgery, BCVA and CBFA were significantly improved, DEZA obviously decreased and the differences were statistically significant ( t=5.53, 7.77, 6.58; P<0.01). CBFA in IMH group was lower than fellow eyes group and control group, the difference was statistically significant ( F=14.13, P<0.01). After surgery, CBFA in IMH group increased similar to that of fellow eyes group ( t=4.32, P=0.37), but lower than that of control group with the significant difference ( t=4.07, P<0.01). The results of Pearson correlation analysis showed that logMAR BCVA and DEZA were positively correlated ( r=0.69, 0.75; P<0.01), CBFA and DEZA were negatively correlated ( r= -0.49, -0.89; P<0.05) before and after surgery. Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that the postoperative logMAR BCVA was positively correlated with DEZA ( t=2.32, P=0.02). Conclusions:After surgery, BCVA and CBFA of IMH eyes are significantly increased, DEZA is obviously reduced. Before and after surgery, logMAR BCVA is positively correlated with DEZA, and CBFA is negatively correlated with DEZA.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2015;50(2):211-217
To compare the chemical change of Paeoniae Radix Alba (PRA) after vinegar-baking processing, as well as the effect of vinegar types exerted on the processing, 1H NMR-based metabolomic approach combined with multivariate statistical analysis was used to investigate the different metabolites between the raw and two vinegar-baked PRA. More than thirty metabolites were identified in the 1H NMR spectrum of PRA, and the multivariate statistical analysis showed that raw and two vinegar-baked PRA could be separated obviously. After vinegar-baking, the contents of isoleucine, lactate, alanine, arginine, albiflorin, and 5-hydroxymethyl furfural (5-HMF) elevated, while those of sucrose, paeoniflorin and its analogues (calculated by benzoate) decreased. The chemical compositions of two vinegar-baked PRA were also different. Shanxi vinegar- baked PRA showed higher levels of leucine, isoleucine, valine, and albiflorin, while rice vinegar-baked PRA contained more sucrose and paeoniflorin's analogues (calculated by benzoate). And the chemical changes in Shanxi vinegar-baked PRA were greater than those of rice vinegar-baked PRA. The results revealed the chemical differences between raw and vinegar-baked PRA, as well as the influence of vinegar type on processing, in a holistic manner, the results obtained suggested that the correlations between the chemical change and the drug action after processing, as well as the vinegar type used in processing, should be further studied.
