4.Oral cavity delivery system of unfractionated and low molecular weight heparin.
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2010;45(10):1317-21
The difference between absorption of unfractionated heparin (UFH) and low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) after oral and oral cavity administration were studied respectively, and the compatible enhancer for oral cavity delivery system of both drugs was found. The LMWH and UFH films were prepared with two bioadhesive materials Carbopol and alginate sodium for oral cavity delivery. The activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) was used to determine LMWH and UFH in plasma after oral, oral cavity and sc administration in rats. The results show that the enhancer (Labrasol) can increase the absorption of LMWH and UFH through oral cavity in rats but not obviously. The oral cavity iontophoretic delivery system is a useful method to improve the absorption of LMWH and UFH through oral cavity mucosa.
5.Early nutritional programming and later obesity
International Journal of Pediatrics 2010;37(1):52-55
Epidemiological studies indicate that obesity is associated with metabolic disorders, such as type 2 diabetes hyperlipidemia and hypertension. Early nutrition, especially during pregnancy and lactation can lead to the permanent programming of system by some adaptive effects in physiological, cellular and molecular levels. These adaptive effects persistently changed the metabolic throughout life, hence resulted in increased risk of obesity and metabolic related disease. This review focuses upon the influence of nutrition in early life on adulthood obesity and researches on their pathophysiological mechanism .
6.Changes of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 in serum and marrow stroma cell supernatant of patients with relapsed acute leukemia
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(6):1101-1104
BACKGROUND: Relapse of acute leukemia is possibly correlated with abnormal expression of cellular adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1).OBJECTIVE: To observe the level of VCAM-1 in serum and bone marrow stromal cell (MSC) supernatant of patients with relapsed acute leukemia. METHODS: Samples of serum and MSC supernatant were collected from 17 patients with remission-phase and relapse-phase acute leukemia hospitalized in the Department of Hematology, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between June 2006 and March 2008. The levels of VCAM-1 were measured with ELISA in remission and relapse phases.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the remission phase, the VCAM-1 level of serum was significantly increased in the relapse phase (P < 0.05). At 1 and 3 weeks after in vitro culture, the VCAM-1 level in the MSC supernatant was not changed (P > 0.05), but it was significantly increased on the fourth week (P < 0.05). The results demonstrated that VCAM-1 expression of serum and MSC supernatant in the relapse phase was greater than that in the remission phase, suggesting that abnormal expression of VCAM-1 was possibly correlated with relapse of acute leukemia.
7.Three-dimensional finite element analysis for internal maxillary distraction with fixation between cleft palate
Chinese Journal of Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology 2012;(5):327-330
Objective To investigate the biomechanical changes of internal maxillary distraction with fixation between cleft palate. Methods Three-dimensional FEM models of LeFort Ⅰ osteotomy and soft tissue in CLP maxillary complex were established. Two different conditions were simulated:one was the cleft palate connected by a titanium plate, and the other was the cleft retained.Internal midface distraction which applied in clinic were simulated.Fixation points of the distraction devices on the LeFort Ⅰ osteotomy complex were advanced by 10 mm in the direction of frontage.Biomechanical changes for different conditions were investigated by means of finite element analyses. Results LeFort Ⅰ osteotomy of maxillary complex area in CLP was advanced.Constrictions occurred in alveolar crest and palate, when the cleft was retained.Constriction of alveolar crest and palate was not obvious, when the cleft palate was connected by a titanium plate. There were no differences between sagittal and vertical displacement to internal distraction in LeFort Ⅰ osteotomy.Clockwise rotation occurred in vertical direction. Conclusions Internal maxillary distraction with fixation between cleft palate could avoid constriction of alveolar crest and palate. It provides the options and reference to the surgical plans.

10.GINSENOSIDE FACILITATES LEARNING AND MEMORY IN AGED MICE
Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 2004;0(06):-
Objective To investigate the effect of ginsenoside on degeneration of learning and memory in aged mice and the mechanism. Method Eighty female C57BL/6J mice aged 20-mo were randomly divided into control group and three ginsenoside treatment groups at dosage of 25,50,100 mg/(kg bw?d) respectively by drinking. In addition, 20 female C57BL/6J mice aged 3 mo were used to be young control group. Eight mo later, the learning and memory abilities of the mice were checked by Morris water maze. Thereafter, the mice were killed by decapitation, and their serum was collected to determine the level of SOD, GSH-Px and MDA. Hippocampal morphology was examined by Nissl stain; and the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in hippocampus was studied using Western blot method. Results 50,100 mg/(kg bw?d) ginsenosides administration could significantly shorten the escape latency of the aged mice in Morris water maze. Furthermore, the alleviated oxidative stress and up-regulated expression of BDNF were observed in 50, 100 (mg/kg?d) ginsenosides groups compared with aged control group. Serum level of GSH-Px was higher in 25 (mg/kg bw?d) ginsenosides group compared to that of aged control group. The number of Nissl-positive cell had no significant difference between all groups. Conclusion 50,100 mg/(kg bw?d) ginsenoside can significantly delay the degeneration of learning and memory in aged mice by lowering oxidative damage and up-regulating BDNF expression in hippocampus.
