Clinical re-evaluation is to verify the drug's safety and effectiveness again, while the drug itself has not been improved. However, due to the complexity of traditional Chinese medicine, ingredients in bulk drugs, prescription, productive processes, quality standards and other aspects need to be enhanced. So improving the quality, safety and effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine by clinical re-evaluation is also very necessary. Therefore, except for achieving those basic requirements of medicine, it should also be improved on itself and pay full attention to the particularity, then traditional Chinese medicine's clinical re-evaluation will play its due role.

Basic & Clinical Medicine 2010;30(5):480-486
Objective To establish lung function reference values and prediction equations in children and adolescents of the Han nationality in Heilongjiang province. Methods A survey in 588 healthy children and adolescents (292 males,296 females)aged 10 to 18 years old was carried out in Heilongjiang province in 2008.Eight flowvolume tests parameters were measured.Stepwise multiple regression was carried out to establish prediction equations for the parameters mentioned above. Results FVC and FEV1,were found, regardless of sex,to tend to go up with the increase of age(P <0.001).Beginning from the age of 14,male FVC and FEV1 became significantly higher than those of the female(P <0.001),the period of a fast increase of the male FVC and FEV1 taking place during the age of 13~14,while that of the female taking place in the age of 12 ~ 13,one age bracket earlier than the male. All lung volumes and flow rates, were found, regardless of sex,to tend to go up with the increase of age, height and weight(P < 0.001).The regression equations of lung function were established.By comparison with the equations derived from our study and other authors' reports,it was found that the difference between measured data and predicted values from other authors was higher than those from our8.Conclusion Reference values and prediction equations for forced expiratory lung function applicable for children and adolescents of the Han nationality in Heilongiiang province were established.

Helicobacter pylori(Hp) is an important pathogenic factor in chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer. With the extensive use of broad-spectrum atibiotics in recent years, the antibiotic resistence of Hp was increasing, together with many side effets and low patient compliance,so the study of new anti-Hp drugs became a research hotspot.Domestic and foreign scholars had extracted active anti-Hp ingredients from the traditional Chinese drug curcuma, they hope to open a new way for the treatment of Hp infection. This paper was to make a brief overview on the study progress of effect of curcuma on anti-Hp.

AIM: The study is designed to probe for the relationship between waist to hip ratio(WHR)and static lung volumes of adults. METHODS: In July-October 2008, 1 307 healthy adults(372 males and 935 females)were selected in Heilongjiang province by means of questionnaire and physical examination. The height, weight, WHR, fat mass, percentage body fat and lung function were measured, and then grouped according to the standard of classification of WHR(central obesity male WHR ≥ 0.86, female ≥ 0.82)for analysis of the relationship between WHR and static lung volume. RESULTS: WHR was found, regardless of sex, to tend to go up with the increase in age and BMI(P<0.01), and both the fat mass and percentage body fat of the central obesity group were higher than those in the group with normal WHR(P<0.01). An independent negative correlation was found(P<0.05), also regardless of sex, between the WHR with expiratory reserve volume(ERV)in all these adults. ERV in central obesity group was lower than that in the group with normal WHR(P<0.05). Compared to the normal group, ERV in the central obesity group decreased by 11% for males and 8% for females(P<0.05). However, with regard to the relationship between WHR and VT, IC, MV, and VC, gender differences were found. For the males, a significant independent positive correlation was observed between WHR and IC(P<0.05), with IC of the central obesity group 6% higher than that in the group with normal WHR(P<0.05). For the females, significant independent positive correlation was found between WHR and MV(P<0.05), with the VT and MV of the central obesity group 7% and 6% higher(P<0.05), respectively, than that in the group with normal WHR. CONCLUSION: WHR is in an independent negative correlation with ERV. The elevation of WHR may play a role in the impairment of respiratory function. Its occurrence is accompanied by a rise of IC for the male and a rise of MV for the female. These changes in the two genders could be associated with the decrease in arterial oxygen tension caused by the decrease of ERV.

ObjectiveTo study the relationship between C-erbB-2 and estrogen (ER) and progesterone (PR) receptors, and the relationship between C-erbB-2, ER, PR with histologic grade. MethodsTo detect ER, PR and C-erbB-2 states by using immunohistochemical analysis and fluorescence in situ hybridization for C-erbB-2 in 163 unselected invasive breast carcinomas. ResultsC-erbB-2, ER ,PR were expressed in 21.5% ,64.4% ,44.2% of 163 cases respectivly . 5 pure mucinous carcinomas , 3 tubular carcinomas and 1 micropapillary carcinoma were ER + ( 100.0% ) 、C-erbB-2 - ( 100.0% ) and PR + (40.0% ,66.7%, 100.0% ). C-erbB-2 was positive in 22.3% of grade Ⅱ and 27.0% of grade Ⅲ invasive ductal carcinomas and negative in all grade Ⅰ invasive ductal carcinomas.ER and PR expression were decreased significantly in C-erbB-2 + tumors compared with C-erbB-2 - tumors( ER,25. 7% vs 75.0% ; PR,25.7% vs 49.2% ). Although ER or PR expression is decreased in C-erbB-2 + tumors, a substantial proportion of them still express ER or PR. ConclusionC-erbB-2 overexpression or amplifcation was limited to a minority of invasive breast carcinomas. Tumour grade was an independent predictor for ER expression. ER was expressed in small number of high-grade and in large number of grade Ⅰ invasive ductal carcinomas. C-erbB-2 overexpression or amplification essentially was limited to grades Ⅱ and Ⅲ ductal carcinomas and correlated inversely with ER or PR expression.

Objective To study the protective role of AngiotensinⅡreceptor inhibitor in ventilator-induced lung injury of rats.Method Forty healthy male SD rats were equally divided into four group (A,B,C,D group,n=10).Group A served as control group, group B had low tidal volume (V_T=10 ml/kg) with breathing rate (P)=80/min;group C had high tidal volume (V_T=40 ml/kg) group with breathing rate 80/min;group D had high tidal volume (V_T=40 ml/kg) group with breathing rate 80/min,all rats in group D were pretreated with Losartan. The duration of ventilation in 'all groups was two hours.Rats were sacrificed after experiment finished. The lung lavage liquid and lung tissue were collected and preserved with well established methods.Lung pathological change was observed by microscope;lung cell apoptosis was assessed with TUNEL;the expression of ANGⅡwas assayed with RT-PCR.The measured variables also included total protein,WBC,W/D,MPO. Results In comparison with B group, all variables in group C were significantly increased (P
