3.Detection of interleukin-17 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha and synovium pathological changes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and significance
Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2012;35(2):14-16
ObjectiveTo investigate the levels of serum interleukin -17(1L-17) and tumor necrosis factor -alpha( TNF- α ) and synovium pathological changes in patients with rheumatoid arthritis ( RA ) and its clinical significance.MethodsThe levels of serum IL-17 and TNF- α in 50 patients with active phase of RA ( active phase of RA group),50 patients with stable phase of RA ( stable phase of RA group ) and 50 normal controls (NC group) were measured by enzyme-linked immunospecific assay(ELISA),and the synovium was detected by pathological examination.ResultsThe levels of serum IL- 17 and TNF- α in active phase of RA group [(42.60 ± 11.30),( 113.20 ± 13.11 ) mg/L]were significantly higher than those in stable phase of RA group [( 19.60 ± 5.75),( 14.50 ± 5.33) mg/L]and NC group [(7.40 ± 3.32),( 10.90 ± 2.24 ) mg/L](P <0.01 ),the level of serum IL-17 in stable phase of RA group was significantly higher than that in NC group ( P < 0.05),but the level of TNF- α had no significant difference between stable phase of RA group and NC group ( P > 0.05).The synovium was significantly different between RA patients and NC group. Conclusion IL-17 and TNF-α are more sensitive index for detecting the activity of RA and may play important rolesinmonitoring the therapeutic effects and prognosis of RA.
4.Changes in body size of newborns at birth from 1975 to 2005 in China
Chinese Journal of Perinatal Medicine 2011;14(11):660-665
Objective To analyze the changes in body size of Chinese newborns in nine cities during 1975-2005.Methods The data of weight, height and head circumference of newborns within 3 days after birth from four national physical growth surveys named “a national survey on growth of children under seven years of age in nine cities of China” in 1975,1985,1995 and 2005 were used. The investigation areas were urban and suburban areas of Beijing,Harbin and Xi'an in the northern part;Shanghai,Nanjing and Wuhan in the central part; Guangzhou,Fuzhou and Kunming in the southern part of China.Random cluster sampling method was used,7325,6660,7109 and 6144 healthy newborns were examined in 1975,1985,1995 and 2005,respectively.The changes of body size between 1975 and 2005,urban-suburban difference and regional difference were compared with u test,ANOVA or x2 test.Results(1)The average weight had increased during the past 30 years no matter boys and girls, from urban and suburban areas. The increments was 40 ~ 100 g.The percentiles of weight had also increased and the distribution had shifted noticeably towards heavier weights. The proportion of macrosomia had increased from 3.2%(212/6660)in 1985 to 4.3%(265/6144)in 2005.(2)The length of newborns remained unchanged over the 30-year period no matter boys and girls, from urban and suburban areas.Head circumference of newborns showed only a minor increase(0.1~0.3 cm).(3)Ponderal index(PI)had increased gradually from 1975 to 2005.The means of PI had increased from 25.4 kg/m3 in 1975 to 26.0 kg/m3 in 2005.(4)Body size of urban newborns was slightly bigger than that of suburban newborns. The urban-suburban difference of weight and height became smaller and smaller in the 30 years, while the urban-suburban difference in PI became slightly bigger in 2005.(5)Weight,height and head circumference of newborns in northern and central areas were higher than those of southern newborns and the regional difference had not significant changes in the 30 years. The PI of newborns in northern and central areas was higher than that of southern part in 1975,while the PI of southern part became the highest in 2005.Conclusions The body size of newborns became slightly bigger and the proportion of macrosomia increased between 1975 and 2005.The urban-suburban difference became smaller and the regional difference remained in the 30 years.
5.CT Classification for Hepatic Cystic Echinococcosis and Clinical Application
Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging 2010;(1):39-42
Purpose to explore a CT classflication of hepatic echinococcal cysts and its clinical application. Materials and Methods reviewed 85 patients who had underwent CT scan in our hospital from 2008-01~2009-12.The CT classification was made according to WHO classification and the CT appearances were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among the lesions, there were 16 CL type, appeared as a unilocular round cyst without wall.15 CE1 type, appeared as a unilocular cyst with a smooth uniform wall.28 CE2 type, appeared as a fluid collection with septa (honeycomb sign),and 6 CE3 type,CT appeared as a fluid collection with a split wall,10 CE4 type,CT appeared as a fluid collection with a split wall (water-lily sign).36 CE5 type,CT appeared as a calcified mass. Conclusion CT classification according to WHO classification for cystic echinococcosis is using to differentiate it from other liver cystic lesions, such as simple cyst and abcess, and is essential when planning clinical treatment.
6.Current situation of and thoughts on the minimally invasive esophageal surgery
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2013;12(10):734-736
Esophageal cancer is one of the most common malignancies in the world.Surgical treatment is the first choice for the treatment of esophageal cancer because it could radically resect the tumor and significantly improve the patients'condition.Minimally invasive esophagectomy (MIE) was rapidly developed because of its advantages of minimal invasion, small volume of blood loss, slight pain, low complication rate and quick recovery of patients. The extent of lymphadectomy and postoperative survival rate of MIE were comparable to those of traditional thoracotomy.MIE has become the treatment of choice for benign esophageal diseases and early esophageal cancer in some medical centers. However, debate still exists regarding the role of MIE in the treatment of esophageal cancer, particularly given the limitations in the widespread implementation of this technically challenging operation. This review summarized the current status of the use of minimally invasive surgery for the treatment of esophageal cancer and some thoughts on the development of MIE were provoked.

Chinese Journal of Immunology 1985;0(03):-
Peritoneal macrophages from thioglycollate-treated C57BL/6 mice were separatedby centrifugation on Percoll discontinuous gradients.Macrophages were so separ-ated into four subpopulations and their tumor cytotoxicity and the effect of sodi-um selenite on different subsets were studied. There was no marked difference inphagocytic activity and Fc recepter activity among the four subpopulations.High-density macrophages activated by MAF were kighly cytostatic and cytolyticto tumor cells, while low-density macrophages were not Peritoneal injection of sodiumSelenite(lmg/kg)augmented macrophage-mediated cytotoxic activity by increasingtheir MAF responsiveness which occurred mainly in the low-density macrophages.sodium selenite did not affect macrophage maturation as the percentage of theperoxidasepositive macrophages remained unchanged,
8."Paying attention to lens regeneration and research of ""lens stem cell"" in mammal"
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(6):481-484
With the existence of capsules, lens regeneration occurs in some mammals after extracapsular lens extraction. It is usually thought that lens regenerates from resident lens epithelial cells (LECs) in the capsule. However, lens regeneration dose not mean simple redupilication of development, and transparency of the lens is affected by irregular growth, migration and transdifferention of the resident LECs.Previous studies mainly focus on the dysplasia of LECs,but update theory about lens regeneration is proposed to be associated with stem cells. Some views and suggestions in lens regeneration are concerned in current researches to better illuminate the mechanism and therapy of posterior capsular opacity.

Chinese Journal of Clinical and Experimental Pathology 2014;(4):376-378
Purpose To investigate the correlation between promoter methylation of RKIP and the clinicopathological features of gastric carcinoma and to analyze the correlation between promoter methylation of RKIP and expression of RKIP. Methods The protein ex-pression and promoter methylation of RKIP were detected in 45 cases of surgically resected gastric carcinoma specimens and 21 cases of corresponding normal tissues using the immunohistchemistry SP method and methylation-specific PCR ( MSP) . Results The positive rate of promoter methylation of RKIP was 48. 89% in gastric carcinoma tissues and 4. 8% in adjacent tissues (P<0. 05). The positive rate of the expression of RKIP protein was 42. 22% in gastric carcinoma tissues and 90. 48% in adjacent tissues (P<0. 05). The pro-tein expression and promoter methylation of RKIP were correlated with the degree of differentiation and lymph node metastasis ( P<0. 05) . Expression of RKIP protein in gastric carcinoma was associated with promoter methylation of RKIP. Conclusions Promoter abnormal methylation of RKIP may be one reason of the deletion of expression of RKIP protein, which correlates with occurrence and development of gastric carcinoma.
