Statins not only reduce the incidence of ischemic stroke but also have the neuroprotective effect on ischemic stroke. Experimental studies in recent years have found that the neuroprotective effect of statins is achieved by multiple mechanisms, in which the regulation of microvascular endothelial barrier is a new mechanism. This article reviews the advances in re-search on this mechanism.

Objective To evaluate the concentration of serum homocysteine,C-reactive protein and the expressions of P-selectin and their relationship in patients with coronary artery disease(CAD).Methods Our study included 44 patients with CAD and 22 negative controls based on coronary angiography(CAG).The concentration of serum Hcy,CRP and the expressions of PS were tested before CAG in 66 patients.Results The concentration of serum Hcy and CRP were markedly increased and the expressions of PS on platelets were significantly increased in patients with CAD compared to control group(P

The significance of the study on the human healht effects of inhalable particulates(PM10) was pointed out,specific properties of inhalable particulates,such as chemical components,aerodynamic behavior and transference in respiratory tract,were then presented.The serious harm of inhalable particulates on human health were summarized based on research results of epidemiological study,animal toxicological study and clinical study,and research emphasis to which should pay more attention in the future study of this aspects was also suggested.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the rationality of preventive use of antibiotics for patient undergoing thyroidectomy.METHODS:120 patients undergoing thyroidectomy from Jan 2005 to Mar 2007 in our hospital were enrolled.The exclusion criteria were the following:patients with infection,coronary heart diseases,diabetes,and other severe diseases or with body temperature above 38 ℃ and aged above 60.The 120 patients were assigned to antibiotic group and non-antibiotic group.Then the healing condition of incisions in two groups was evaluated.RESULTS:There was no significant difference between the two groups in incision healing.CONCLUSION:Antibiotics don't have to be used in patients undergoing thyroidectomy.

OBJECTIVE:To improve pharmacists’ consciousness, abilities and skills on pharmaceutical services and to ensure safe and effective use of drugs in patients. METHODS: With the trainning of basic theroy, basic knowledge and basic skills for the priciple to develop technique trainning in view of pharmaceutical technicians in outpatient pharmacy, it were trained or examined by means of traditional exam and operation practice with the results analyzed. RESULTS:In the examinations of drug laws and regulations and pharmacal basic knowledge, 72.8% and 36.4% of pharmacists got excellent level respectively. In the review of prescriptions, and the use of some special drugs, pharmacists masted in sufficiency. CONCLUSIONS: The new open pharmaceutical service mode in the outpatient pharmacy calls for a higher level of expertise and skills for pharmacists, thus the training in fundamental theory, basic knowledge and essential skills are significant in our hospital.

Objective To investigate the relationship between PSMA expression and histologic grading of prostatic carcinoma. Methods Different prostatic tissues and non-prostatic tumors (PCa 70,prostate intraepithelial tumor 21,BPH 20,nonprostatic malignancies 30) were analysed for the expression of PSMA by using PSMA mono-clonal antibody and ABC immunohistochemical staining. Results All prostatic tissues but 2 cases of prostatic carcinoma and 4 cases of benign prostate hyperplasia were stained positively,while all of the non-prostatic tumors were stained negatively.There was a negative correlation between PSMA expression and histologic grading of prostatic adenocarcinoma. Conclusions PSMA was prostatic organic specific and could be a prognostic marker of prostate adenocarcinoma.

Objective This study aimed to understand the experience of family caregivers of elderly people,explore the relationship between responsibility and burden,provide reference and theoretical guidance to the health care provider.Methods Exploratory,descriptive,qualitative design was used and a semi-structure interview Was conducted in a convenience sample of 11 participants.The Colaizzi method of empirical phenomenology Was used for interviewing and anaIyzing data obtained from 11 caregivers.Results Four major themes were found and labeled:husbands and wives,be accompanied till they are old;learning to be filial from confucius;avoiding trouble other family member as less as possible;this is my destiny.Conclusions The findings of the study pointed out that service providers should fully consider the cultural factors and develop support services that better meet the traditional culture.

Objective To investigate the expression of apoptosis-related genes Bcl-2 and Bax after cerebral ischemic reperfusion in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas and the effect of curcumin on the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in gerbils.Methods Gerbils were randomly divided into sham group(SH),ischemia-reperfusion group(IR),curcumin group(CU) and solvent control group(SC).Forebrain ischemia was induced by occlusion of bilateral common carotid arteries.Observations were made in each group 1d,3d,5d and 7d after ischemia.Open field test was used to examine the behavioral change.The apoptotic neurons in hippocampal CA1 region was counted,and the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas was detected by SABC immunocytochemical technique.Results The behavioral mark and the number of apoptotic neurons in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas were much smaller in CU group than in IR group(P
