Objective To explore the effects of curdione on cognitive function and expression of inflammatory factors in the hippocampus after partial hepatectomy in aged mice.Methods The animals were divided into control group, sham group, operation group, and high-, medium-and low-dose curdione groups.The model of partial hepatectomy in aged mice was established according to the method reported in literature.The levels of SOD, MDA, CAT and GSH-Px in the hippocampus were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), while the expressions of NF-κB, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α were measured by Western blot.Results The escape latency was significantly increased (P<0.01), and the number of platform-site crossovers was significantly decreased in operation group (P<0.05).Compared with those in operation group, curdione significantly decreased escape latency and increased platform-site crossovers (P<0.05, P<0.05).The levels of SOD, CAT and GSH-Px in the hippocampus were significantly decreased (P<0.05) and the content of MDA was significantly increased after partial hepatectomy (P<0.01), and these were reversed by curdione (P<0.05, P<0.05, respectively).The expressions of NF-κB, IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α protein were significantly inhibited by curdione (P<0.05).Conclusion Curdione can significantly improve cognitive dysfunction after partial hepatectomy in aged mice and the mechanism may be related to its inhibition of oxidative stress, inhibition of NF-κB activation and reduction of inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α in the hippocampus.

Objective To elucidate the possibility of diagnosing BOO with urodynamic data with indefinite P F findings in patients with BPH. Methods Some urodynamic data besides the P F fin dings were studied in BPH patients,and these were compared between the BOO group and the non BOO group. Objective To observe the growth inhibition effect of sustained-release fluorouracil implantation in nude mice with human colorectal carcinoma and to discuss its influence on caspase-3 expression .Methods The colorectal carcinoma subcutaneous transplanted model with LoVo cell in BALB/c nude mice was established and divided into 4 groups randomly :the tail intravenous injection of PBS (A group) ,the tail intravenous injection of 5-FU group (B group) ,the intratumor injection of 5-FU group (C group);and the implant of sustained-release fluorouracil group(D group) .After 15 d of medication ,the tumor weight and tumor volume were recorded ,the tumor inhibiting rates were calculated .The tumor tissues were observed by HE staining and detected the expression of caspase-3 by immunohistochemistry (IHC) .Results Sustained-release fluorouracil could suppress the transplantation tumor growth significantly ,the tumor weight and tumor volume in the D group had statistical differences compared with the A ,B and C groups(P<0 .05) ,which could up-regulated the expression of caspase-3 ,the differences between the D group with the A ,B and C groups (P<0 .05) .Conclusion Sustained-release fluorouracil can inhibit the grow th of colorectal carcinoma transplantation tumor more effectively than conventional fluorouracil and up-regulate the expression of caspase-3 ,which prompts that sustained-re-lease fluorouracil may play the anti-tumor role by inducing the tumor cell apoptosis via apoptosis pathway .Its definite tumor-inhibi-ting effect deserves to be promoted in clinical chemotherapy .

AIM: To evaluate the relationship between axial length ( AL ) , corneal and lens refractive power, and the refractive error in children.
METHODS:Totally 44 children 88 eyes with refractive error who underwent retinoscopy with cycloplegia, to be measured spherical equivalent refractive error. Axial length was measured by a noncontact optical biometry ( ZEISS IOL-Master) , and corneal K and anterior chamber depth ( ACD) were also measured by the same machine. The refractive power of the lens was calculated by using the SRK formula. The patients were divided into 3 groups, myopia (SE<0), hyperopia (SE>+0. 50D) and emmetropia ( 0 to + 0. 50D ). Linear Correlation and Regression were used to evaluate the correlation among the optical parameters.
RESULTS:Totally 44 subjects, 88 eyes, average 9. 04±2.39 years, spherical equivalent (SE) -3. 50D to +8. 75D. Hyperopic AL was shorter than the other two groups ( P<0.05), same trend in lens power. No significant differences among the 3 groups in corneal K and ACD. There was a negative correlation between age and SE, SE and AL, SE and lens refractive power, and there was a positive correlation between age and AL, age and lens power.
CONCLUSION:As the children's growing up, SE trends to myopia, and AL becomes longer, and lens power is stronger.

Objective To develop one kind of mainstream ET-CO2 (carbon dioxide of the expiration tip)detector which provides accurate and real-time testing results. Methods Applying ADμC7026 as central processing unit for data pre-processing, temperature compensation algorithm and non-linear correction, the ETCO2 concentration, respiration waveform and respiration rate were obtained. Results The analyzing results of the experimental data shows that the system meets the design requirements with fine stability, rapid response, good repeatability and high accuracy. Conclusion ET-CO2 detector based on ADμC7026 makes the detection of CO2 more accurate and reliable, which provides more accurate real-time data for critical patient monitoring, anesthetic care, pediatric respiratory care and so on.
