Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2005;11(5):397-397
ObjectiveTo observe the effect of monosialo gangliosides-1 (GM-1) and Radix salviae miltiorrhizae (RSM) on neonatal hyposemic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).Methods62 cases of HIE were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, and both groups received conventional therapy. Injection of RSM and GM-1 were added into the treatment group in 7~10 days therapy. ResultsHigh curative effect, average curative effect and total curative effect in the treatment group of 31 cases were 80.6%, 16.1% and 96.8%, while that in control group of 31 cases were 32.3%, 51.6% and 83.9% respectively. There was significant difference in the high curative effect and total effect between the two groups (P<0.05). ConclusionThe treatment combined with RSM and GM-1 can enhance the curative effect on HIE without any side effect.

Objective To investigate the role of interleukin-18(IL-18) and interleukin-15(IL-15) in the mechanism of acute pancreatitis. Methods The serum levels of IL-18 and IL-15 were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in SAP group(n=7) and MAP group(n=19).The relationship between IL-18 and IL-15 were analyzed. Results SAP group was compared with the MAP group:IL-18 (78.32?15.45)ng/L vs (28.21?13.18)ng/L,P

BACKGROUND: Total isoflavones of pueraria (TIP) possesses estradiol-like structures and has inhibition effect on bone loss or osteopenia in ovariectomized rats. However, studies have demonstrated that the prevention and treatment effect of TIP on osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats is poor, especially in single utilization. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the combination effect of TIP and vitamin D on the treatment of osteoporosis in ovariectomized rats. METHODS: Totally 81 female sprague-drawly (SD) rats of 3-month-old were randomly assigned into 9 groups. Exception those in the sham-surgery group, all rats were prepared for ovariectomized models. Vitamin D or low-, middle- and high-dose TIP or low-, middle- and high-dose TIP combined with vitamin D were intragastric administrated in the vitamin D, TIP or combination groups, respectively. There was no drug medication in the model and sham-surgery groups. The uterus coefficient was calculated at 3 months after medication. The serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity, calcium, phosphonium, bone gla protein, estradiol levels, as well as bone mineral density of femur was determined. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Compared with the model group, the uterus coefficient and estradiol level was obviously increased in the middle- and high-dose TIP groups and all combination groups (P < 0.05); the ALP and bone gla protein levels significant decreased (P < 0.05); and the bone mineral density of central and distal femur were notably increased (P < 0.05); in particular, the result was more manifest in the high-dose combination group. TIP and vitamin D presented with synergism in uterus coefficient, estradiol, ALP, bone gla protein levels and bone mineral density of distal femur, but the effect was not significant in the calcium and phosphonium levels in the TIP and/or vitamin D groups. The findings demonstrated that Tip combined with vitamin D can induce synergism on prevention and cure of osteporosis in ovariectomized rat.

Objective To investigate the imaging and clinical features of Percheron artery infarction. Methods The clinical manifestations, imaging data, treatment, and prognosis of 10 patients with Percheron artery infarction were analyzed. Results All 10 patients had acute onset and had different degrees of consciousness disorders, including vertical gaze palsy (n =3),language disorder (n =3),limb weakness (n =6),and memory impairment (n =4).MRI showed bilateral thalamus infarction.Midbrain V-sign in one patient was observed.Cerebral angiography revealed that one patient had Percheron artery infarction. All 10 patients were improved and discharged, but left with varying degrees of sequelae. Conclusions Percheron artery infarction is rare in clinical practice. The diagnosis is mainly based on clinical manifestations and imaging examinations.Cerebral angiography can diagnose the disease.

Angiopoietin-like proteins are a family of proteins that are closely related to lipid, glucose and energy metabolism, as well as angiogenesis. To date, eight Angptls have been discovered, namely Angptl1 to Angptl8 that play key roles in metabolic regulation and marker assisted selection. In this review, we summarized current progress on the structure, signaling pathways, upstream regulatory genes and metabolic network of Angptl1-8. Finally, in combination with our work, the status and problems of animal breeding as well as the future prospects for Angptls were discussed.

Objective To establish animal models in order to provide an experimental study basis for both the pathogenesis study and taking effective prevention scheme for doxorubicin extravasation injury. Methods A total of 20 Kunming mice for experiments on doxorubicin extravasation injury were divided in-to four groups, I.e., high dose group(2 g/L), medium dose group(1 g/L), low dose group(0.5 g/L) and the control group (injection with water). Dosages were administered with subcutaneous injection on both sides of mice abdomen. The adverse reaction of body, damage areas of extravasation injury, recovery period were observed and histopathologic slides of animal models on both 4 days and 11 days after experiment were performed and compared. Results No significant adverse body reaction was observed after injection for all groups. The damage areas due to extravasation injury were dosage and concentration dependent. In addi-tion, significant differences in recovery period were observed for mice in different groups, that is, the higher injection concentration and dose led to the longer recovery period. Results from the histopathologic study in-dicated that the putrescence of damage area was developed in high dose group mice, and the ulcer occurred after 4 d of dosage in medium dose group mice, respectively. In contrast, no ulcer was observed in low dose group mice. Conclusions It would be feasible to establish a prevention model for mice on doxorubicin extravasation injury by subcutaneous injection at a dosage of 0.05ml(1 g/L).
