The aim of this study was to investigate whether shear stress could promote function of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) with Shexiang Baoxin Pill (SBP) treatment in vitro, and to study whether shear stress contributed to vascular injury repair by EPCs. EPCs were isolated and characterized; EPCs' proliferation, migration, adhesion, tube formation and eNOS protein level in vitro were investigated by culturing confluent EPCs in 4 mg/mL SBP under physiological shear stress (15 dyne/cm2) for up to 24 hours. Afterwards, EPCs were transfused into rats after wire-induced carotid artery injury augmented re-endothelialization. The results showed that, compared to the SBP group, the shear stress+SBP group obviously enhanced EPCs proliferation, migration, adhesion, tube formation and eNOS protein expression in vitro (P<0.01). After one week, immunofluorescence staining showed that endothelial regeneration rate obviously enhanced in shear stress+SBP group (P<0.01). The present study demonstrates that shear stress can promote function of endothelial progenitor cells treated with SBP, which improves the vascular injury repair potentials of EPCs.

Purpose:In order to determine the indications for adjuvant treatment in node-negative breast cancer.Methods:We analyzed 233 cases of node-negative breast cancer. Results:The recurrence ratio of node-negative breast cancer was 7.3 percent. The prognosis was connected with age,menstrual history , position, diameter of tumor and pathology. Among invasive lobule cancer, GradeⅢ and lymphocyte-negative cancer, the recurrence ratio was 28 percent in patients with three factors, 16 percent in patient with two factors, 7 percent in patients with one factor.Conclusions:Node-negative breast cancer cases with high recurrence factors need adjuvant treatment.

ObjectiveTo study the rationale of breast-conserving therapy (BCT) for the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. MethodsFrom March 1994 to March 1995, 25 cases of early-stage breast cancer were treated with BCT. The indication was (1) tumor size 3.0 cm; (3) preoperative mammograms were performed in order to exclude multifocal cancer and the tumor with extensive calcification. Tumors were removed with at least 2 cm normal breast tissue margin (evaluated by frozen biopsy), and the axillary nodes were dissected in levels 1 and 2. Two weeks postoperatively patients were treated with radio-therapy to control possible microscopic residual foci. The breast cosmetic results and quality of life (QOL) were analyzed. ResultsAll cases were followed-up for an average of 64.1 months. No differences at 5 year′s survival and local recurrence were found between patients undergoing BCT and those with radical mastectomy.ConclusionThe result of early-stage breast cancer treated with breast-conserving therapy is satisfactory, this therapy is superior to radical mastectomy in terms of improving QOL under condition of strict patient selection and plan design.

Objective To evaluate and compare the results of air-conduct and bone-conduct auditory brainstem response(ABR)for the purpose of clinical application of the bone-conduct ABR.Methods A group of normal hearing young adults(61 ears)were measured with click stimulation air-conduct ABR and bone-conduct ABR in a soundproof chamber.Results The waveforms of bone-conduct ABR were almost the same as those of air-conduct ones with the threshold of 26.08?7.71 dB(nHL),but with a lower rate of wave derivation.There were no significant differences between male and female for both air-conduct and bone-conduct ABR testing.The threshold for bone-conduct ABR was higher than that of air-conduct one with a very high positive correlation(r=0.7740)and there were significant differences (P0.05) for the wave intervals.Conclusion The limitation of the bone-conduct ABR application and the differences from air-conduct should be considered when it was used clinically.

Objective To design a handy labor monitor based on ARM hardware structure so that the condition of pregnant women can be reflected more accurately and completely.Methods The host-slave mode was adopted,which was composed of host machine based on ARM and embedded WinCE operating system.The slave machine used the 51 single chip to acquire data.Results This system was convenient and stable,and the interface is friendly.Conclusion The study of this system can be used for reference for the development of related data acquisition machine.[Chinese Medical Equipment Journal,2008,29(2):31-33]

To observe the growth, expansion and differentiation of the cultured bone marrow stroma cell (BMSC) from Macaca Lrus, BMSC isolated from adult Macaca Lrus were cultured with the culture medium confected by ourselves and were induced with some cytokines such as LIF and bFGF. The results showed that the BMSC could proliferate and generate Nestin positive clones when they were cultured in vitro. After subculture, these cells could grow rapidly and differentiated into neuron like cells and astrocyte like cells further, which expressed GFAP or NSE antigen respectively. Therefore, these BMSC possess renewal and differentiation abilities. On the other hand, the culture method we used in this experiment is suitable for culture of BMSC in vitro. The BMSC might be used as the seed cells of the neural stem cells.

OBJECTIVE: To provide medical staff with medication information concerning compatibility of hospital injections.METHODS: Based on the "Junwei No.1" hospital information system,a database system comprising system maintenance,information maintenance and comprehensive inquiry that can provide information of compatibility of hospital injections was developed through setting up database and sorting the information of hospital injections.RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: This system is characterized by low cost,high transferability,friendly user interface,flexible inquiry and convenient maintenance,and it can facilitate medical staff's convenient,quick and accurate mastering of the information of hospital injections so as to provide better service for the patients.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the role of nitric oxide (NO) in ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) and acute rejection (AR) of intestinal transplantation in rats.MethodsThe rat orthotopic intestinal transplantation was performed. Animals were assigned to the following 4 groups with random methods:transplant control group,L-arginine (L-Arg) group,NG-Nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) Ⅰ group (group Ⅰ ) and L-NAME Ⅱ group (group Ⅱ ).The rats in different group were given saline,L-Arg (150 mg· kg-1 · d-1 ),L-NAME (4 and 8 mg· kg-1 · d-1 ) injection respectively from the operative day.The recipient survival time was observed.The pathologic changes were observed by HE staining.The activity of nitric oxide synthases (NOS) was measured by using immunohistochemistry.The abilities of glucose absorption and serum NO levels were tested.Results The recipient survival timein transplant control group,L-Arg group,group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ were (11.7 ± 1.2),(10.2 ± 1.0),( 12.3 ± 1.5) and ( 17.3 ± 1.9) days respectively,and the survival in group Ⅱ was prolonged significantly (P＜0.01).As compared with control group,the Park scores in L-Arg group and group Ⅰ were reduced,and IRI were attenuated; the Park score in group Ⅱ was increased (P＜0.01),the IRI was aggravated,but the AR was attenuated.As compared with control group,during the IRI period,the iNOS staining in group Ⅰ was decreased,and both iNOS and nNOS staining in group Ⅱ was decreased; during the AR period,the iNOS staining in group Ⅱ was decreased obviously.The serum NO levels were increased gradually in all groups.As compared with control group,the increase of serum NO level in group Ⅱ was delayed.As compared with control group,the glucose absorption levels in L-Arg group were increased significantly from 30 min after reperfusion to POD-3 (P＜0.01),and the postoperative glucose absorption levels in groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ maintained the low levels.ConclusionNO may play a dual role as both cytotoxic and cytoprotective effects in IRI,and aggravate mucosal damage in AR in rats intestinal transplantation.The glucose absorptive capacity of graft is promoted by supplementation of LArg at early postoperative period.

Objective To study the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy in different modalities.Methods From September 2005 to October 2012,57 patients with masses located at pancreatic body/tail were treated by laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy.According to the operation procedure,patients were divided into four groups:distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy; Spleenpreserving distal pancreatectomy with conservation of the splenic artery and vein; spleen-preserving distal pancreatectomy and without conservation of the splenic artery and vein and laparoscopic to open distal pancreatectomy.Data of each group for operation time,blood loss and complications were collected and statistically analyzed.Results In 57 patients,5 cases were converted to open distal pancreatectomy.52 cases underwent successful laparoscopic operation (including 1 cases of hand-assisted).22 cases of spleen preserving operation (39％),and 30 cases of splenectomy operation (61％).Among the 4 groups of patients operation time,intraoperative blood loss,postoperative length of stay were not significantly different (all P ＞ 0.05).There was no operative mortality.Two cases suffered from B level postoperative pancreatic leakage,there was no C level pancreatic leakage.Conclusions Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy with or without splenectomy is safe for the treatment of body and tail tumors of the pancreas.
