Local recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) presents a troublesome challenge to radiation oncologist. Reirradiation is the primary modality nowadays. However, clinical data on reirradiation are still relatively scarce. This article summarized the treatment advances and the clinical characteristics associated with relapse of NPC, and reviewed the outcomes of different radiation techniques in the management of recurrence of NPC, i.e. conventionalradiotherapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, brachytherapy, three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy and intensity modulate radiotherapy, or some combination of above in recent years.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2000;0(11):-
Objective To investigate MR imaging findings of hepatic focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) on unenhanced and dynamic contrast enhanced scans and evaluate their diagnostic value. Methods The unenhanced and dynamic gadolinium enhanced MR images of 22 FNHs proved by pathology were retrospectively analyzed. Results Average size of FNH lesions was 4.05 cm. The typical MR isointensity signal with surrounded hepatic parenchyma on T 1 and T 2 weighted images was seen in only 4 lesions, while atypical signal was encountered in 18 lesions. A central scar was noted in 8 lesions on unenhanced images. After gadolinium administration, 21 lesions had vigorous enhancement on arterial phase and prolonged enhancement on portal vein and delayed phase. The ring enhancement of capsule was noted in 2 lesions on portal vein and delayed phase. 18 lesions showed a central scar on dynamic contrast enhanced images. 19 lesions were correctly diagosed by using the combination of unenhanced and dynamic contrast enhanced MR imaging. Conclusion The combination of unenhanced and dynamic contrast enhanced MR imaging can fully show the pathologic characteristics of FNH and improve to differeniate ability from other malignant hypervascular tumors.

Objective To explore the effect of human placenta lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and dexamethasone (DXM) on spontaneous resorption of herniated intervertebral disc. Methods The animal model of intervertebral disc herniation was set up by placing the harvested disc into the epidural space at L4 or L5 of the same rahbit. Then the 24 rabbits were randomly divided into three groups. In human placenta LPS group, rabbits were intraperitoneally injected 2ml of human placenta LPS at the second, 6th and 10th days after surgery. In DXM group, rahbits were intravenously injected 1mg/kg of DXM at the second to 15th days after surgery. In control group, rubbits were intravenously injected 3ml/kg of normal saline at the second to 15th days after surgery. All rahbits were killed, and herniated intervertebral disc was removed for histological and immunohisto- chemical examination at the 12th weeks after surgery. Results A great amount of newly formed vessles and inflammation cells were founded in the disc tissues in the LPS group. In the control group, a lot of granular tissues were founded in the disc tissues. In the DXM group, small amount of granular tissues were founded in the disc tissues. The expression levels of bFGF, CD68 and VEGF in the LPS group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P

Journal of Clinical Hepatology 2017;33(5):994-997
The liver has a strong regenerative capacity, and in case of acute injury, the proliferation of mature hepatocytes helps to complete liver regeneration. However,in case of chronic injury, the proliferative capacity of mature hepatocytes is damaged or exhausted, and the activation, proliferation, and differentiation of hepatic progenitor cells are involved in liver regeneration. This article summarizes the characteristics and origins of hepatic progenitor cells, their role in tissue repair after liver injury and development of liver cancer, and potentials and problems of cell transplantation in the treatment of liver diseases. It is pointed out that an understanding of the biological characteristics of hepatic progenitor cells, their role in liver injury and liver cancer, and related pathogenesis helps with the treatment of liver diseases.

Objective Investigations regarding the status of pediatric emergency and relevant facilities distribution in our province represent a crucial prerequisite for further setting up emergency network and improving our first aid capabilities. Methods We had conducted relevant surveys on the medical institutions within our province, including lever 2 and lever 3 hospitals as well as maternal and child care service centers. Results The feedback from 151 institutions indicated that they had 4485 pediatric beds and treated 5 308 severe patients in 2010.Among all,38 hospitals had ventilators for children and 4 hospitals could perform pediatric blood purification treatment. However,no one had mastered the children ECMO technique. Conclusion There is an inadequacy of some emergency equipments and the development in emergency and first aid is uneven. There is a strong request to launch and develop the blood purification and bronchfiberscope techniques,in combination with improvements in the first aid capabilities and emergency network.

Objective:To investigate the antitumor effect of CpG-ODN combining non-replicating recombinant vaccinia virus in tumor immunotherapy. Methods: CpG-ODN and constructed vaccinia virus v△11?75 were combined to study the antitumor effects in the walker′s rat tumor model. Results: Recombinant vaccinia virus v△11?75 lost the replicating capacity on human cell line,143TK - cell. The genes between HindⅢ C & K fragment of vaccinia virus TianTan strain were deleted, verified with Southern-blot. In the Walker′s tumor model of Wistar rats,Combinational immunotherapy with CpG-ODN and non-replicating vaccinia virus-modified WRC256 oncolysates resulted in prolonged life span and reduced tumor hyperplasia. Conclusion: CpG-ODN can enhance the antitumor effects of non-replicating vaccinia virus-modified oncolysates, providing a new route of tumor therapy.

Objective To study bacteria-blocking effect of surgical gowns with new material. Methods Semi-quantitative and qualitative testing methods were used to detect bacteria-blocking rates of key sites of surgical gowns(chest and forearm), the detected samples included sample A (composite material, unused), sample B (composite material, after washing 100 times), and sample C (monolayer material, unused). Results In semi-quantitative testing, the average bacteria-blocking rates of three samples were 75.47%, 70.78%, and 73.73% respectively. In qualitative testing, three samples could effectively block the penetration of Staphylococcus aureus under wet condition and Bacillus subtilis var.niger spores under dry condition. Conclusion In semi-quantitative testing, all three kinds of samples had bacteria-blocking effect, and the average bacteria-blocking rate was> 70%;in qualitative testing, three samples all meet requirements of bacteria-blocking effect under wet and dry condition.

Objective To investigate the function of acid pocket in reflux esophagitis. Methods The 15 healthy controls and 24 reflux esophagitis patients were identified by reflux disease questionnaire (RDQ) and gastric endoscopy. The location of subjects' lower esophageal sphincter (LES) was determined by 4 channel esophageal manometry system. Then a single-channel pH electrode was positioned 1 cm below the distal border of the LES to monitor fasting pH for half an hour. After a standard meal, the pH was continuously measured for two hours. Then the electrode was moved to 5 cm above the proximal border of the LES to monitor the dynamic pH for 24 h.Results Acid pocket was found in 16 cases of reflux esophagitis patients(66.67%) and 10 cases of healthy individuals (10/15). Acid pocket occurred earlier in reflux esophagitis group than healthy controls [11.00(4.25-17.00) min vs 30.00(15.50-54.25) min, P<0.05], and the average pH value was lower [1.84(1.59-2. 19) vs 2.32 (1.96-2.71), P<0.05]. There was no statistic difference in mean pH value of gastroesophageal junction and the duration of acid pocket before the meal. Conclusion There is abnormal acid reflux in reflux esophagitis patients, and acid pocket with earlier occurrence and lower pH value may relevant to esophageal mucosal impairment.
