Hypoxia occurs in chronic and acute vascular diseases and tumor formation. The ability of tumor cells to maintain a balance between an adaptation to hypoxia and cell death is regulated by a family of transcription factors called hypoxia-inducible factor 1 (HIF-1). Tumor hypoxia mediated by HIF-1 would facilitate the likelihood of resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, proliferation, metastasis and the invasive potential; all of which culminate in a decrease in patient survival. And HIF-1 alpha subunit decides the activity of HIF-1, which is regulated by oxygen. So understanding the role of HIF in signal pathway, drug resistance mechanism and its feature is crucial for developing novel anticancer therapies. In recent years, more attentions have focused on HIF-1 alpha inhibitors. It is expected that development of more potent and selective HIF inhibitors will provide an effective treatment of cancer and other HIF-related diseases. So we will focus on the biological characteristics and mechanism of HIF-1 to review currently studied HIF-1 inhibitors.

5.Clinical observation on acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians plus moving cupping on the neck and shoulder for migraine
Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2017;15(5):377-381
Objective:To observe the efficacy of acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians plus moving cupping on neck and shoulder for migraine. Methods:A total of 64 migraine cases were randomly allocated into an observation group and a control group, 32 cases in each group. Random number table method was used in allocation. Acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder were used for cases in the observation group, which contain acupuncture 5 times a week and cupping once a week. Oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules were used for cases in the control group, 10 mg for each dose, 1 dose a day. 2 weeks constitutes a course of treatment. The patients were treated for two courses of treatment in both groups. After that, the changes of visual analogue scale (VAS) and the migraine disability assessment questionnaire (MIDAS) were observed, as well as the clinical efficacy. Results:The total effective rate and recovery and marked effective rate in the observation group were 93.8% and 71.0% respectively, versus 78.1% and 43.8% in the control group, showing statistical significant differences (both P<0.05). There were significant decreases in VAS and MIDAS scores after treatments in both groups (both P<0.05). VAS and MIDAS scores in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group (both P<0.05). Conclusion: Combining acupuncture at points of Shaoyang meridians and cupping on neck and shoulder can relieve headache and reduce influence of migraine on life. It can produce a better efficacy than oral flunarizine hydrochloride capsules in treating migraine patients.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(11):-
Objective To study the application of doses of remifentail intravenous anesthesia in vocal nodule extirpation. Methods Sixty ASAⅠ~Ⅱpatients with vocal nodule were selected and randomly divided into three groups. Group F were given anesthetic induction with fentanil and maintenance with isoflurane; Group L were given anesthetic induction and maintenance with remifentail at the dose of 0.5?g/(kg?min); Group H were given anesthetic induction and maintenance with remifentail at the dose of 1?g/(kg?min).The anesthetic induction time, blood flow dynamics during maintenance phase, recovery time and quality were recorded. Results (1)Anesthesia produce less circulatory fluctuation in group H than in group F and L.(2) Group L and H were faster than group F on recovery profile including the time of response to verbal commands, autonomous breathing, tracheal extubation and discharging from operating room. The OAA/S score was higher in group L and H than in group F 5 min after intubation. There were no significant differences between group L and H. Conclusions Remifentanil intravenous anesthesia can achieve better recovery profile from anesthesia than fentanyl in vocal nodule extirpation. 1?g/(kg?min) remifentanil can inhibit the stress responses to tracheal intubation and laryngoscope inserted effectively with a stable circulatory function.

Objective:To explore the value of pre- and postoperative red cell distribution width-to-lymphocyte count ratio (RLR) in predicting the disease-free survival (DFS) for non-metastatic colorectal cancer patients. Methods:The data of 108 patients pathologically diagnosed with non-metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma after surgery from December 2012 to January 2020 in Hainan Hospital of PLA General Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. RLR was calculated and its differences in patients with varied clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. The receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve was applied to analyze the value of pre- and postoperative RLR in predicting DFS of patients, and the cut-off value was determined by Youden index. DFS of patients with different stratification stratified by a cut-off value of RLR was analyzed by using Kaplan-Meier method followed by log-rank test. Cox proportional hazards model was used to make univariate and multivariate analysis. Results:Youden index of pre- and postoperative RLR in predicting DFS was 8.86%, 9.15%; based on the above index, the patients were divided into the preoperative RLR<8.86% group (73 cases) and preoperative RLR≥8.86% group (35 cases), postoperative RLR<9.15% group (48 cases) and postoperative RLR≥9.15% group (60 cases). According to ROC curve, the area under the curve (AUC) of preoperative RLR in predicating DFS was 0.66 (95% CI 0.55-0.77, P = 0.01), and AUC of postoperative RLR in predicating DFS was 0.62 (95% CI 0.51-0.74, P = 0.04). Pre- and postoperative RLR cut-off values were used to predict 3-year DFS rate of patients with the sensitivity of 51.60% and 71.00%, respectively, and the specificity of 76.60% and 50.60%, respectively. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that patients in preoperative RLR<8.86% group had a better DFS compared with those in preoperative RLR≥8.86% group ( χ2 = 7.35, P < 0.01); there was no statistical difference in DFS between postoperative RLR<9.15% group and postoperative RLR≥9.15% group ( χ2 = 3.69, P = 0.06). Preoperative RLR was an independent affecting factor for DFS of patients ( HR = 1.13, 95% CI 1.04-1.22, P <0.01). Conclusions:Pre- and postoperative RLR could be useful in predicating 3-year DFS for patients with non-metastatic colorectal cancer. Preoperative RLR is an independent affecting factor for DFS, and the patients with low RLR have a better prognosis.
