Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science 2021;19(4):307-312
Objective: To observe the efficacy of mild moxibustion combined with functional exercise in the treatment of upper-limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery and its effect on serum vascular endothelial growth factor C (VEGF-C). Methods: Seventy-eight patients were divided into a control group and an observation group by the random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. The control group received functional exercise and the observation group received mild moxibustion plus functional exercise. The differences in circumference between the two upper limbs, the lymphatic flow of the affected upper limb, the disability of arm, shoulder and hand (DASH) score, the functional assessment of cancer therapy-breast (FACT-B) score and serum VEGF-C level between the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Efficacy was evaluated after treatment. Results: The total effective rate was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The difference in circumference between the two upper limbs of the two groups decreased significantly after treatment (both P<0.05), but it was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The lymphatic flow of the affected upper limb of the two groups increased significantly after treatment (both P<0.05), but it was significantly greater in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The DASH scores of the two groups decreased significantly after treatment (both P<0.05), but it was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). The FACT-B scores of the two groups increased significantly after treatment (both P<0.05), but it was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum VEGF-C level increased significantly in the observation group (P<0.05), whereas the control group did not show significant change (P>0.05). The post-treatment serum VEGF-C level was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The efficacy of mild moxibustion combined with functional exercise for upper-limb lymphedema after breast cancer surgery is certain, which can reduce the difference in circumference between the two upper limbs, increase the lymphatic flow of the affected upper limb, improve the limb function and the quality of life, and regulate the serum VEGF-C level.

It is well believed that learning and memory is one of the functions of sleep. Not only does the sleep after learning aid memory consolidation, but enough sleep before learning is necessary for memory formation.Due to the net increase in synaptic strength, waking plasticity has a cost in terms of energy requirements, space requirements, and progressively saturates the capacity to learning. The review will focus on the role of sleep which is to downscale synaptic strength to a baseline level that is beneficial for learning and memory.

Study the infect of child anorexia granule on serum ghrelin and leptin of anorexia children and its clinical efficacy. Selected 81 cases of anorexia children aged 1-6 years old into treatment group (42 cases) and control group (39 cases), in addition, 30 case healthy children as healthy control group. The control group children were treated with domperidone suspension 0.3 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1), tid, orally 30 minutes before meals. Treatment group were treated with child anorexia granule, 1-3 years 1 package, bid; 4-6 years 1 package, tid; po, 4 weeks as a course of treatment. Study the change of serum ghrelin and leptin before and after therapy. The study demonstrates that before treatment, the serum ghrelin level of disease group was lower than healthy group (P < 0.01), and the serum leptin level was higher than healthy group (P < 0.01). After treatment, the serum ghrelin level both increase, and the serum leptin decline. And the change of treatment group was significantly different with control group (P < 0.01). And the clinical effective rate are 95.23% and 74.35% (P < 0.01). After 6 months of follow-up visit, the children weight significantly increase in treatment group (P < 0.01). Results indicate that child anorexia granule can facilitate secretion of ghrelin, and inhibit secretion of leptin, so as to work up an appetite. And the molecular mechanism is its infect on serum ghrelin, leptin.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2014;39(6):949-954
The blood-brain barrier (BBB) protects the brain against unwanted substances, while, at the same time, limits the transport of many drugs into the brain. Aromatic refreshing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can induce resuscitation and modify the permeability of BBB, promoting other drugs entering into the brain with brain protection effect. This paper mainly reviews the research progress in regulation effects and mechanism of usual aromatic refreshing TCM, such as borneol, moschus, styrax, benzoinum and Tatarinow Sweetflag Rhizome, on BBB permeability. To broaden the application of these drugs in modern pharmaceutics in the future, the relatively research should emphasis on combining aromatic refreshing TCM with new formulations and technologies in pharmaceutics, providing novel promising strategies for brain diseases therapy.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 1984;0(02):-
Objective To explore whether the neurons induced from mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) have synapse function or not. Methods Passage 4-5 MSCs in good shape was induced by Salvia miltiorrhiza with optimized protocol for several times, and then the observation under inverted phase contrast microscope, immunofluorocytochemistry and the measurement of neurophysiological function were carried out.Ca2+ influx and synapse function were detected with laser-scanning confocal microscopy(LSCM),taking 50 mmol/L KCl as stimuli to evoke action potential. Results The cells that had been induced for 5 h at 4th time from MSCs,looked like neurons and displayed that the processes stretched out to form complex net.Immunofluorocytochemistry presented that the rate of TUJ-1 expression was(96.7?2.8)% and that of synaptophysin was(96.2?2.1)%.When the neuron-like cells were stimulated by high concentration of KCl,intracellular Ca2+ influx enhanced quickly. When the neuron-like cells were stimulated by high KCl solution for the first time,SynaptoRed-C2 anchored onto the membrane, and after the second excitation, the fluorescence intensity decreased quickly. Conclusion The neuron-like cells derived from MSCs that are induced by salvia miltiorrhiza with optimized protocol have synapse function.
