Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2003;7(20):2810-2811
Aim To establish a rapid and sensitive diagnostic markerfor adjusting gut absorptive capacity after trauma. Methods A mi-cromethod for D-xylose test with phloroglucinal was established according toEberts with modification. The standard curves were repeated for fivetimes. Then the blood contents of fasting and orally taking 0. 5 g/kgD-xylose at 2nd and 4th hour were measured and the blood D-xylose con-tents of seven refilling rats with ischemia of intestine were mea-sured. Results The maximal absorption spectra was read at 554 nm byscanming of DU-7 Beckman. Good linearity of the D-xylose standard curvewas found with the range of 0 to 4 mmol/L(r=0. 9979 ±0. 0017) . Theblood content of rats at 2nd hour after orally taking D-xylose was ( 154 ± 6)mg/L amd that at 4th hour was decreased to (87 ± 11) mg/L. And theblood content at 2nd and 4th day after ischemic refilling was (162 ± 5)mg/L and (80 ± 8) mg/L respectively. The variation coefficients within andamong batches were 1.98% (n=6) and 3.10% (n=6), respective-ly. And D-xylose recovery rates were from 97.2% to 104. 3%. ConclusionMicromethod for D-xylose test appears to be simple, rapid and sensitive, and is an available index for estimating intestinal absorption after severetrauma.

ObjectiveTo determine a measurement standard of irregular scar area by comparing the ad-vantages and disadvantages of different measurement methods in measuring same irregular scar area. MethodsIrregular scar area was scanned by digital scanning and measured by coordinate reading method, AutoCAD pixel method, Photoshop lasso pixel method, Photoshop magic bar filled pixel method and Foxit PDF reading software, and some aspects of these methods such as measurement time, repeata-bility, whether could be recorded and whether could be traced were compared and analyzed. Results There was no significant difference in the scar areas by the measurement methods above. However, there was statistical difference in the measurement time and repeatability by one or multi performers and only Foxit PDF reading software could be traced back.ConclusionThe methods above can be used for measuring scar area, but each one has its advantages and disadvantages. It is necessary to develop new measurement software for forensic identification.

Objective: To prepare Danshen Injection (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae) by micelle-ultrafiltration. Methods: For preparing Danshen Injection, we packed the impurities in the macrofiltered liquor of Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae with micelle of Tween-80, and ultrafiltered the compounds with ultrafiltration membrane withholding molecular weight more than 50000. Then we evaluated the process with the comprehensive indexes including loss rate of UV absorbance, loss rate of Protocatechualdehyde and the stability of transparence. Conclusion: The process of Danshen Injection prepared by micelle-ultrafiltration is better than that of ordinary ultrafiltration.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2024;36(11):936-940
Objective:
To investigate the difference in influencing factors for diabetes between urban and rural residents in Hefei City, so as to provide the basis for control and research of diabetes.
Methods:
The residents aged 18 years and older were selected using the stratified multistage random sampling method from 5 districts (counties) in Hefei City from August to December 2021. Demographic information, smoking, self-rated health status and sleep duration were collected through questionnaire surveys. Height, body weight and fasting blood glucose were measured. The crude prevalence of diabetes was calculated and standardized by age using China Statistical Yearbook 2022. Factors affecting diabetes were identified using a multivariable logistic regression model.
Results:
Totally 10 443 residents were investigated, including 6 386 urban residents (61.15%) and 4 057 rural residents (38.85%). There were 4 690 males (44.91%) and 5 753 females (55.09%). Diabetes were detected in 1 492 cases, with a standardized prevalence of 9.57%. The standardized prevalence of diabetes among urban and rural residents were 9.21% and 12.58%, respectively, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that region, age, educational level, occupation, body mass index and self-rated health status were influencing factors for diabetes. Further analysis stratified by urban and rural area showed that, in addition to the above factors, gender and smoking were influencing factors for diabetes among urban residents, while sleep duration was the influencing factor for diabetes among rural residents (all P<0.05).
Conclusions
There are urban-rural differences in the prevalence of diabetes among residents in Hefei City, and the prevalence of diabetes is associated with age, educational level, occupation, body mass index and self-rated health status.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(9):834-838
Background Peripheral refraction of retina brings about influence on myopia development, and different corrective methods will play different roles on the peripheral refraction. Objective This study was to measure the peripheral refraction with progressive addition lenses (PALs) and single-vision spectacle lenses (SVLs) corrected in adolescent myopic eyes and to investigate the difference between them. Methods This was a selfcontrolled cross-sectional study.Forty corrected myopic eyes with PALs were recruited for the study.Twenty-three male and seventeen female subjects aged 10-15 years (mean 12.54 years±1.45 years) enrolled in this study. The refractive errors of the subjects ranged form-1.50 D to-6.00 D (mean-3.74 D±1.09 D) and the astigmatism was less than-1.50 D with the corrected visual acuity at least 20/25.1% Tropicamide eye drops was topically administered for the cycloplegia and then Grand Seiko WAM-5500 Auto-refractor was used to measure the peripheral refraction. The measured points were determined follows as:fovea (0°),peripheral temporal (T30°,T20°,T10°) and nasal (N30°,N20°,N10°) visual fields from the right eyes. The mean of the six measuring points for each position was calculated.Peripheral refraction was measured from each subject under the wearing of PALs or SVLs (randomly in succession),and the statistic analyse perimeters included M value, relative peripheral refractive error (RPRE),J45,J180.Written informed consent was obtained from each subject before examination. Results The corrected visual acuity was 4.98 ± 0.65 and 4.97 ± 0.53 under the PALs and SVLs conditions respectively, showing in significant difference between them (t =0.222,P =0.639).Hypermetropic shift in peripheral M value and RPRE value were found with the increase of visual angle field,in contrast, the peripheral J180 showed a myopic shift, and significant difference was found among the six peripheral points with all of the above three perimeters (P<0.05).Negative J45 values in the temporal visual filed and positive J45 values in the nasal filed showed less shift. Some peripheral angles of the peripheral refractions in M value,RPRE value,J180,J45 showed significantly difference from the fovea refraction(P<0.05).Compared with SVLs correction,PALs induced relatively myopic shifts in M value and RPRE value in all of the peripheral angle fields, showing significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusions PALs causes relatively myopic shift at the peripheral retina in adolescent myopic eyes in comparison with SVLs,and the important parameters are M value and RPRE value. The effect of PALs on controlling the onset and progression of myopia may be interpreted by peripheral refraction.
