AIM:To explore the clinical value of combined detection of C-reactive protein ( CRP ) , erythrocyte sedimentation rate ( ESR) and white blood cell ( WBC) count in patients with ocular syphilis.
METHODS:Dates of CRP, ESR, WBC, TPPA and RPR of 51 ophthalmopathy patients caused by syphilis and 50 normal control from Jan. 2012 to Dec. 2015 in eye hospital were recruited and analyzed statistically.
RESULTS:The positive rates of CRP, ESR and WBC of oculopathy patients were 16%, 18% and 39%, respectively, which were higher than those in the control group. In patients group, the positive rate of ESR was higher than CRP and WBC. There were no obvious relationships between RPR titers and positive ratios of CRP, WBC and ESR.
CONCLUSION: The blood level of CRP, WBC and ESR may have certain help in estimating and monitoring condition of patients with ocular syphilis.

This article overviews researches on acute myocardial infarction syndrome treated with TCM.We claim that the basic pathology of this disease should be futiber explored and essential factors for syndrome difierentiation should be studied.We also put forward quantitative diagnosis should be carried out to the essential factors and experimental indexes.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the current situation of early diagnosis and intervention in 0-9 months old infants with hearing loss and analysis factors that will affect early diagnosis and intervention. METHOD: One hundred and eighty-six infants referred to the West China hospital from February 2014 to September 2014 were included. All 186 children were referred due to the fact that either they failed infant hearing screening or outer ear malformation. Early diagnosis and/or intervention were performed on those 186 children and their records of early diagnosis and intervention were analyzed. RESULT: Among the 186 infants, 167 (89.8%) were diagnosed with an average age at (4.0 ± 1.4) months. Among the 167 infants with final diagnosis, there were 31 (18.6%) infants diagnosed as conductive hearing loss (CHL), and 99 cases (59.3%) diagnosed as sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), among whom, there were 75 (44.9%) bilateral SNHL and 24 (14.4%) unilateral SNHL. There were 2 cases (1.20%) with SNHL on one side and atresia on the other side. 5 (2.99%) of all conductive hearing loss cases with unilateral atresia and 2 cases with auditory neuropathy (AN) were found. 33 infants (19.8%) were found to have normal hearing. 30.7% (23/75) infants diagnosed as bilateral SNHL and 8.3% (2/24) infants diagnosed as unilateral SNHL were fitted with hearing aids. The fitting rate in infants with bilateral SNHL with mild, moderate, severe to profound degrees were 0 (0/23), 24.0% (6/25), 66.7% (6/9), 61.1% (11/18) respectively. The average intervention age was (5.0 ± 2.1) months. CONCLUSION Although the early diagnosis and intervention situation in this study are very close to international standard, there are still infants without final diagnosis and infants with hearing loss without hearing aid fitting. Further studies and efforts to promote early diagnosis and intervention in infants with hearing loss are needed.

[Objective]To modify posterior lumbar interbody fusion for improvement of convenient manipulation and safety in the operation,and solid fusion. [Methods]After total decompression of the spinal nerve through posterior medline approach,discectomy of the slipping segment was performed with a circular saw with diameter of 1.0 centmeter.Under direct visualization through the hole of the circular saw,the disc tissue including cartilage of upper and lower end plates was removed with a long handle curette.After pedicle screw and rod system was placed,a bone block harvested from the posterosuperior iliac with a circular saw with diameter of 1.2 centmeter was implanted into the intervertebral space.Then compression of the intervertebral space to catch the bone lock firmly was conducted by regulating and fixing the the pedicle screw and rod system.[Results]Forty-eight patients in this report were followed up from 6 to 24 months.Based on JOA low back pain score,there were 36 patients was in excellent result,8 in good and 4 in fair,the satisfactory rate was 91.67% and effective rate was 100%.[Conclusion]Using circular saws in posterior lumbar interbody fusion has advantagas of good visualization profit removing disc tissue,preventing neurovascular injuries,and making good bone grafting bed.Convenient and secure bone harvesting decrease blood loss,time consume during the operation and prevent donor site complication.Futhermore,follow up results of the patients in this report demonstrate that posterior interbody fusion with circular saw for treatment of lumbar spondylolisthesis have satisfactory outcome and high fusion rate.

OBJECTIVE: To optimize the extraction technology of thrombolytic components predominantly as corilagin from Phyllanthus urinaria.METHODS: The extraction technology was optimized by orthogonal experiment with solvent amount,extracting time and extracting times as factors,and with the comprehensive score of the yield of extract and corilagin content as indexe.The impurity-removing efficacy by centrifugation,acid/base method or ethanol precipitation was evaluated.RESULTS: The optimal extraction technology was as follows: using 8-fold volume of 30% ethanol as solvent for reflux extraction of 3 times(2 hours/ time).The best impurity-removing efficacy was achieved when 90% ethanol was used for precipitation.CONCLUSION: The extraction technology is simple and stable with high yield of active components,and it provides theoretic basis for the industrial production.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the effect of berberine on the proliferation and apoptosis of LCSCs and the possible mechanism. METHODS: CD133+ LCSCs were separated from A549 cells by immunomagnetic beads. The effects of different concentrations (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 20, 40 mg/L) of berberine on the proliferation and apoptosis of LCSCs were determined by MTT and flow cytometry analysis, respectively. In order to further affirm the effect of berberine on the proliferation and apoptosis of LCSCs, the expression levels of Ki67, Bax and Bcl-2 protein were detected by western blot. In addition, to investigate the potential mechanism by which berberine exerts regulatory effects on LCSCs, the expression levels of Hedgehog signaling pathway-associated proteins (PTCH1, SHH, Gli-1 and SMO) were determined. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After magnetic cell sorting, the content of the CD133+ fraction was enriched up to 84.13%. MTT and flow cytometry assays showed that berberine inhibited proliferation and promoted apoptosis of LCSCs in a concentration-dependent manner. Western blot analysis showed that the expression levels of Ki67, Bcl-2, PTCH1, SHH, Gli-1 and SMO proteins of LCSCs cultured in the medium with 20 mg/L berberine were dramatically decreased compared to the control, while the expression level of Bax protein was markedly increased compared to the control. Objective:To investigate the expressions of CD44v3 and CD54 in oral premalignant epithelia and its significance in the carcinogenesis of oral mucosa.Methods:The expressions of CD44v3 and CD54 in 19 cases of normal mucosa and mucosal hyperplasia,22 case of dysplastic epithelia,26 cases of oral cancer mucosa were detected by using immunohistochemistry.Results:CD44v3 and CD54 proteins showed no expression or micro-expression in normal and hyperplastic epithelia.The expressions increased in the dysplastic epithelia and mucosa of oral cancer gradually.The difference between the expressions of the three groups was significant(P

Children′s unique physiological, developmental and psychological attributes make them one of the most vulnerable groups in large-scale flood disasters.Formulating a reasonable and feasible emergency preparedness plan for flood disasters can improve their ability to cope with flood disasters and optimize the outcomes of children suffering from flood disasters.The emergency preparedness plan for children′s flood disaster should cover the allocation and utilization of various resources during disasters, regional cooperative rescue and evacuation of children, ethical problems in treatment under special circumstances, psychological counseling of children, family members and medical personnel.Relevant staff of pediatric emergency rescue need to consider all aspects and make reasonable plans so that the rescue work of children affected by disasters can be carried out in an orderly manner.

Huge amount of data becomes available from the pharmaceutical manufacturing process with wide application of in- dustrial automatic control technology in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) industry. The industrial big data thus provides golden op- portunities to better understand the manufacturing process and improve the process performance. Therefore it is important to implement data integration and management systems in TCM plants to easily collect, integrate, store, analyze, communicate and visulize the data with high efficiency. It could break the data island and discover useful information and knowledge to improve the manufacturing process performance. The key supporting technologies for TCM manufacturing and industrial big data management were introduced in this paper, with a specific focus on data mining and visualization technologies. Using historic data collected from a manufacturing plant of Shengmai injection of SZYY group, we illustrated the usefulness and discussed future prospects of data mining and visualization technologies.

A new risk analysis method based upon reliability theory was introduced in this paper for the quality risk management of Chinese medicine injection manufacturing plants. The risk events including both cause and effect ones were derived in the framework as nodes with a Bayesian network analysis approach. It thus transforms the risk analysis results from failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) into a Bayesian network platform. With its structure and parameters determined, the network can be used to evaluate the system reliability quantitatively with probabilistic analytical appraoches. Using network analysis tools such as GeNie and AgenaRisk, we are able to find the nodes that are most critical to influence the system reliability. The importance of each node to the system can be quantitatively evaluated by calculating the effect of the node on the overall risk, and minimization plan can be determined accordingly to reduce their influences and improve the system reliability. Using the Shengmai injection manufacturing plant of SZYY Ltd as a user case, we analyzed the quality risk with both static FMEA analysis and dynamic Bayesian Network analysis. The potential risk factors for the quality of Shengmai injection manufacturing were identified with the network analysis platform. Quality assurance actions were further defined to reduce the risk and improve the product quality.
