This article introduced the rich resources of medicinal pteridophyte and its conditions of geographic distribution,morphologic and cultural characteristics.Through the investigation,resource collecting and protection test on the important medicinal pteridophyte in Guzhou,it discussed the conservation and utilization of medicinal pteridophyte medicinal pteridophyte in Guzhou,and provided evidence for resource protection of further reasonable exploitation.
2.Expression of interleukin-9 in murine cornea with herpetic stromal keratitis

Background Herpetic stromal keratitis (HSK) is an immunopathologic eye disorder mediated by CD4+ T lymphocytes.Interleukin-9 (IL-9) is a cytokine linked to the process of many immune inflammatory diseases,but whether IL-9 is involved in the immunopathology of HSK remains unclear.Objective This study was to investigate the expression of IL-9 in murine cornea during the development of HSK and its relationship with the degree of HSK.Methods One hundred and eighty clean BALB/c mice were divided into the normal control group (20 mice) and experimental group (160 mice).HSK models were established by scratching on the surface of the cornea followed by inoculation of 1 × 106 plague forming unit(PFU) herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) KOS strain.Change of ocular surface was examined under the slit lamp biomicroscopy before and I day,3,5,7,8,10,14,21 days after inoculation of HSV-1.The corneas of mice were collected on the time points mentioned above.The relative expression level of IL-9 mRNA in the cornea of mice was detected by real-time PCR.Immunocytochemical localization of IL-9 protein in murine cornea was viewed by a confocal microscope after preparation of the corneal cryostat sections.All experimental manipulations were undertaken in accordance with the institutional guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.Results Punctiform,dendriform or geographic defect in corneal epithelium were seen 3 days and healing 6 days after inoculation of HSV-1.However,edema and opacity of the corneal stroma appeared 7 days and peaked 14 days following the inoculation.Real-time PCR assay showed that very little of IL-9 mRNA (A260/A280) was expressed in the cornea in the mice of the control group.But in 1 day,3,5,7,8,10 and 14 days,the relative level of IL-9 mRNA was 6.37±0.45,5.66±0.53,3.93±0.35,3.62±0.34,3.23±0.18,2.57±0.14,2.19±0.20,with a significant difference among the various time points (F=92.764,P=0.000),and IL-9 mRNA in 1 day,3,5,7,8,10 and 14 days after inoculation was significantly higher than before inoculation (P<0.05);while no markedly difference was found in IL-9 mRNA expression between the 21-day group after inoculation and the normal control group (P =0.340).IL-9 protein was expressed in the epithelial layer,stromal layer and endothelial cell layer of the corneas,with a stronger green fluorescence in the HSK mice,but no expression of IL-9 protein was seen in the control mice.Conclusions HSK model can be successfully created by corneal scratching and inoculation of HSV-1 KOS strain in BALB/c mouse.IL-9 is involved in the pathogenesis and development of HSK mediated by immunoresponse.
3.Research on clinical effect observation of TACE combined with percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy on treatment of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma

Objective:To explore the effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy(PMCT) on treatment of patients with hepatic carcinoma.Methods: The clinical data of 60 cases of liver cancer patients in our hospital in TACE combined with PMCT were analyzed. Results:The operation was successfully performed, no serious complications and death. Efficacy: 4 CR cases, 38 PR cases, 16 SD cases, 2 PD cases, the total efficiency of treatment was 70.0%; After 1, 2, 3 year, survival cases (ratio) were respectively: 46(76.7%), 35(58.3%), 31(51.7%); The levels of Serum alpha fetoprotein (AFP) after operation was significantly reduced, after treatment, the patient's liver function improved significantly; The diameter of the lesions was significantly reduced.Conclusion: TACE combined with PMCT is an effective therapy for hepatic carcinoma.

5.Modified Ludloff osteotomy for the treatment of severe hallux valgus

Objective To evaluate the results of modified Ludloff osteotomy for the treatment of severe hallux valgus. Methods Fifty six patients (63 feet) with severe hallux valgus were treated with modified Ludloff osteotomy in combination with other procedures during 1999-2000. There were three males (3 feet) and fifty three females(60 feet); the average age of the patients was 46 years old (range from 16 to 65 years old). The severe hallux valgus patients whose first intermetatarsal angles were larger than 16? were treated with modified Ludloff osteotomy. In addition to modified Ludloff osteotomy, combined Reverdin osteotomies were performed in 4 feet, and Akin osteotomies in another three. All patients were followed up for an average of 10 months (6 to 18 months), and evaluated with Maryland clinical rating systems of AOFAS. Weight bearing X-ray films were taken and measured as well. A comparison study was made between the commonly used osteotomies. The advantages and disadvantages as well, of modified Ludloff osteotomy, were evaluated.Results There was no nonunion, delayed union or infection. Based on hallux metatarsophalangea interphalangeal scale of Maryland rating system, 41 feet (65%) were in the score range from 90-100, 17 feet (27%)80-89, 5 feet (8%) 70-79. The rate of excellent or good was 92%. Conclusion Modified Ludloff osteotomy has the advantages of less shortened metatarsal, rapid healing, ability to correct deformity and earlier weight-bearing. It is a perfect procedure for severe hallux valgus patients whose first intermetatarsal angles are larger than 16?, but their first metatarsophalangeal joints are without signs of osteoarthritis.
6.Initial screening of binding-peptide of the cell surface marker CD133 of cancer stem cells

Objective:To select the binding-peptide of the cell surface marker CD133 of cancer stem cells from phage peptide library,and to find a new tool for research on stem cells,tumor therapy and anti-metastasis of cancer.Methods:Biotined mouse CD133 extracellular fraction was used as a target to screen phage 7-peptide library by the high affinity of streptavidin and biotin,and the clones were identified by sandwich ELISA and competitive experiment.Single strand DNA was extracted from these positive clones and was analyzed by single-strand dideoxy-sequencing.Results:After three turn solution panning,five peptides with high affinity shared the same amino acid sequence:APSPMIW and three identical peptides with high affinity shared the same amino acid sequence:LQNAPRS.Conclusion:The peptides that bind with mouse CD133 extracellular fraction with high affinity and specificity were first screened from the phage peptide library for the first time,which initially indicates that the feasibility of screening from phage peptide library with small molecule polypeptide biotined as a target.
7.The clinical efficacy of concurrent chemoradiotherapy for esophageal cancer in the elderly

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of chemotherapy for esophageal cancer in the elderly. Methods: A total of 74 patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer in our hospital were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group. The control group was treated with radiotherapy alone, while the observation group was treated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy. The efficacy, adverse reactions and 1 and 2-year survival were observed. Results:The recently response rate was 86.5% in the observation group, while the control group was 62.2% (x2=5.37, P<0.05). The disease control rate was 100.0% in the observation group, while it was 3.8% in the control group. The differences were significant (x2=4.53,P<0.05). The adverse reactions in the two groups were not significantly different. With 34 patients in the observation group followed up, the 1-year survival rate was 73.5%, 2-year survival rate was 55.9%, while it was 40.0% and 25.9% in 35 patients that followed up in the control group. The differences were statistically significant (x2=6.58,x2=5.32;P<0.05).Conclusion: Concurrent chemotherapy for esophageal cancer in the elderly has a significant effect. Compared with radiotherapy alone, it can significantly increase the 1, 2-year survival rate, and does not significantly increase the adverse reactions.
8.Analysis on Utilization of Liver-protective Medicines in Our Hospital During 2004~2008

OBJECTIVE: To analyze status quo of utilization of liver-protective medicines in our hospital. METHODS: Consumption sum and DDDs of liver-protective medicines were analyzed statistically in our hospital during 2004~2008. RESULTS: The proportion of consumption sum of liver-protective medicines in total was 21.09%. The main medicines was inosine to prevent antituberculosis drug-induced hepatic lesion during 2004~2005. The utilization of new and expensive liver-protective medicines was used more than before during 2006~2008. The consumption sum was increased greatly. CONCLUSION: The utilization of liver-protective medicines is rational and economical in the previous two years. But the price of used liver-protective medicines is higher than before during 2006~2008. So some interventions should be adopted to control the utilization of liver-protective medicines rationally and economically.
9.Discussion on surgical treatment for young patients with congenital lower eyelid entropion

AIM: To explore the surgical methods and clinical effects on young patients with congenital lower eyelid entropion.
METHODS: There were 27 patients ( 45 cases ) who suffered congenital lower eyelid entropion accepted the modified blepharosphincterectomy. The clinical effects and complications were evaluated.
RESULTS: After followed up for 6mo, 42 eyes were fully recovered, 3 eyes were unsuccessful and the cure rate was 93%, 5 eyes suffered minor lower eyelid skin folds, none had lower eyelid retraction and ectropion.CONCLUSION: Modified blepharosphincterectomy is an ideal cosmetic surgical treatment for young patients with congenital lower eyelid entropion. It is an effective surgical treatment with fewer complications.
10.Ulinastatin attenuates paraquat-induced myocardial injury

Objective To investigate the effect of ulinastatin (UTI) on endogenous antioxidant systems in the process of myocardial oxidative stress injury induced by paraquat (PQ),so as to elucidate UTI protecting cadiocytes against PQ-induced injury.Methods Thirty Japan white rabbits were randomly (random number) divided into A,a sham control group; B,PQ intoxication model group and C,D,E,three UTI groups as per different dosages of UTI given.PQ (30 mg/kg) was administered by intraperitoneal route to the rabbits of PQ intoxication model and rabbits of three UTI groups.UTI in doses of 15 000,30 000,50 000 U/kg was administered intravenously every day to the rabbits of three UTI groups respectively for 7 days after PQ intoxication.After the rabbits were sacrificed with 10% chloral hydrate,left ventricles of rabbits were taken.Histomorphological changes of myocardium were observed by using HE staining.Hydroxyproline was measured by alkaline hydrolysis method,myocardial oxidative stress evaluated by 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (4-HNE) immunohistochemistry staining,transcription levels of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1),adiponectin,peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPAR-α),AMP-activated protein kinase-β1 (AMPK-β1),uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) were assayed with reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).The differences between two groups were analyzed by t test ; for multiple comparisons,data were analyzed by One-Way ANOVA followed by Dunnett' s post hoc test; for two and multiple ranked data comparisons,Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis test were used,and Spearman rank correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation between UTI dose and transcription levels of endogenous antioxidant.Results Compared with group A,left ventricular cadiocytes in group B became swelled and disarranged,concentration of tissue HYP was elevated to (2.37 ± 0.49),P =0.001;scores of 4-HNE and TGF-β1 mRNA expressions were all upregulated (both P =0.001).Compared with group B,disordered myocytes in UTI treated groups tended towards normal,4-HNE scores in group D and group E descended respectively to (1.83 ± 0.53) and (1.70 ± 0.47),both P =0.001,HYP concentration reduced to (3.51 ±0.39) μg/mg and (3.29 ±0.37) μg/mg (P =0.002; P =0.001),and expressions of TGF-β1 mRNA in these two groups were decreased (both P =0.001).Transcription levels of four endogenuous antioxidant components,adiponectin,PPAR-α,AMPK-β1 and UCP-1,were all augmented in the group E with high dose UTI.The mRNA expressions of these four components positively correlated with the dose of UTI in the myocardium of PQ intoxicated rabbits.Conclusions UTI could protect myocardia against PQ-induced injury by increasing endogenous antioxidant systems.
