To explore the influence of glucose level of 75 g oral glucose tolerance test ( OGTT ) druing pregnancy on delivery of large for gestational age infants. This research selected 790 cases of patients diagnosed as gestational diabetes mellitus( GDM) , 478 cases of pregnant women diagnosed as normal glucose tolerance( NGT) from Affiliated Hospital of Jining Medical University in 2014 and followed up until they delivered. Single live births were selected, risk factors which had influence on offsprings, birth weight were analysed. GDM group had significantly higher rate of delivering large for gestational age(LGA)infants than that of NGT group(47. 30% vs 31. 30%, P<0. 05). Adjusting for confounding factors, it suggested that 2 h plasma glucose level of 75 g OGTT was an independent risk factor for the delivery of LGA infants, and 1 mmol/L glucose increment in 75 g OGTT 2 h plasma glucose level, mayincreasetheriskofLGAby29%(OR=1.29,95%CI1.05-1.58,P=0.02). The2hplasmaglucoselevelof75 g OGTT is an independent risk factor for delivery of LGA infants.

Astragalus polysaccharide has been widely used in food and medicinal industry owing to its health-promoting properties. In order to characterize better the relationship among molecular weight, structure-activity and activities, a simple method was used different concentration of ethanol including 30% (PW30), 50% (PW50), 70% (PW70), 75% (PW75), 80% (PW80) and 90% (PW90) to precipitate Astragalus polysaccharides into different molecular weight. As a result, PW90 showed smooth surface and the strongest antioxidant activity among these six fractions (P < 0.05). In conclusion, graded ethanol precipitation was a simple method to separate Astragalus polysaccharides into different molecular weight with different antioxidant activity fractions.

National Journal of Andrology 2013;19(8):722-726
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the methods for the replantation of the amputated penis in Chinese men.
METHODSWe performed a meta-analysis on the domestic literature relating replantation of the amputated penis, particularly its successful methods published from 1964 to January 2012.
RESULTSWe identified 109 reports on 111 cases of replantation of the amputated penis that met the inclusion criteria, including 103 adults and 8 children. The mean age, warm ischemia time and total ischemia time were 29 +/- 11 years (range 2 - 56 years), 5.2 +/- 5.7 hours (range 0 - 38 hours) and 6.3 +/- 5.7 hours (range 1 - 38 hours). Fifty-three of the cases were treated by microsurgery and 44 by non-microsurgery. Complications occurred in 81 (73%) of the cases, including ED in 14 cases, urethral stricture in 16, urinary fistula in 8, skin necrosis in 58 and skin sensory abnormality in 31. The incidences of ED, urethral stricture and urinary fistula exhibited significant differences between the microsurgery and non-microsurgery groups of the partial amputation patients (P < 0.05). The incidence of ED was correlated negatively with the number of anastomosed dorsal nerves (r = -0.3, P = 0.05), anastomosis of dorsal veins (r = -0.2, P = 0.02) and anastomosis of arteries (r = -0.2, P = 0.03), but positively with skin sensory abnormality (r = 0.4, P < 0.01), that of urethral stricture negatively with the anastomosis of dorsal nerves (r = -0.2, P = 0.02) and arteries (r = -0.2, P = 0.016), but positively with the anastomosis of corpus cavernosum (r = 0.3, P = 0.01), that of skin necrosis negatively with the total number of anastomosed blood vessels (r = -0.2, P = 0.04), and that of complications negatively with the number of anastomosed dorsal nerves (r = -0.3, P = 0.01), dorsal veins (r = -0.2, P = 0.04), arteries (r = -0.2, P = 0.023) and micro-anastomosis (r = -0.3, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONEarly micro-anastomosis of the most possible penile dorsal veins, arteries and dorsal nerves is essential for the survival of the replanted penis and reduction of complications, and therefore can be regarded as a "standard" method for penile replantation in China.

BACKGROUNDThe correlation between the plasma D-dimer level and deep vein thrombosis has not been conclusive in various studies. The aim of this research was to study the relationship between plasma D-dimer levels and the severity of orthopedic trauma by retrospective examination of orthopedic trauma cases.
METHODSClinically acute trauma and non-acute trauma patients were selected and their plasma D-dimer levels were measured. Plasma D-dimer levels in patients of these two groups were compared. The relationship between the plasma D-dimer level and the severity of the trauma was also studied.
RESULTSThere were 548 cases in the acute trauma group and 501 cases in the non-acute trauma group. The levels of plasma D-dimer were significantly higher in the acute trauma group than in the non-acute trauma group (P < 0.01). In the acute trauma group, the correlation between the D-dimer level and the number of fractures was a positive linear correlation (r = 0.9532).
CONCLUSIONSElevated plasma D-dimer is common in trauma patients. The D-dimer level and the number of fractures in the trauma patients are closely correlated. D-dimer is not only an indicator for the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolus, but also an indicator of the severity of trauma in acute trauma patients.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of androgen on sexually dimorphism nucleus in preoptic area (SDN-POA) and anteroventral periventricular nucleus (AVPV) before sexual differentiation of the brain in female rats.
METHODSNeonatal female SD rats (n=12) were randomly divided into two groups: androgen group and control group. Twenty-four hours after birth animals were subjected to intraperitoneal injection of 50 microl of testosterone propionate (TP,10.0 g/L) or aseptic oil as control. The rats were sacrificed 60 days after the injection and the brains were collected for crystal violet staining. LEICA Q Win system was applied in detecting the boundaries of SDN-POA and AVPV, then the volumes of SDN-POA and AVPV were calculated.
RESULTSThe volumes of SDN-POA in androgen group were significantly larger than those in control group [(16.77+/-2.68) vs (8.99+/-1.42)mm(3)x10(-3), P<0.01], while the volumes of AVPV in androgen group were significantly smaller than those in control group [(9.14+/-1.16) vs (14.62+/-2.80)mm(3)x10(-3), P<0.01].
CONCLUSIONExogenous androgen rendered before sexual differentiation in female rats results in enlargement of SDN-POA volumes and reduction of AVPV.

OBJECTIVETo study the level of intelligence in children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), and the relationship between the level of intelligence and gene mutations.
METHODSOne hundred and two children with DMD between January 2009 and March 2011 were enrolled. DMD gene detection was performed through the multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) in 84 cases. The level and the structure of intelligence were evaluated by Chinese Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (C-WISC) in 50 children with DMD (≥6 years old; DMD group) and in 50 age-and gender-matched healthy children (control group).
RESULTSThe average intelligence quotient (IQ) was 84±21 in 102 children with DMD. Thirty patients (29.4%) had the full intelligence quotient (FIQ) less than 70. The FIQ, verbal intelligence quotient (VIQ), performance intelligence quotient (PIQ) and the scores of 11 sub-tests of intelligence in the DMD group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.01). The IQ in patients with gene mutations at exon 56-79 was the lowest (59.3±11.9), followed by in patients with gene mutations at exon 45-55 (88.6±1.9), at exon 1-29 (97.5±9.6) and at exon 30-44 (102.8±3.8) (P<0.01).
CONCLUSIONSThe FIQ, VIQ and PIQ in children with DMD are lower than those in healthy children. There is association between mental retardation and gene mutations.
